Three hundred sixty sixth entry - pretentious
2007-08-26 15:40:05
Time - 1:45, Noise - Parasite Eve - "Beauty's Abomination (OC remix)"
So, I've always thought that most of the people at the OC Remix site are pretentious bastards. If you want elitists, go there. I've already described in previous entries in what way they are elitist, so I'll skip that now. However, I wanted to make a slightly different note. The song I'm listening to now is a very lovely piano version of the main theme, and I don't think it needs any more description than that. But let me give you an example of what an admin - not even the fucking creator himself! - is saying about the piece...
"Oscillations of dynamic and tempo are synchronized to effect a deliberate, swaying motion that can best be likened to natural phenomena: trees in wind, waves, or the uncertain, fluctuating surfaces of estuaries."
Seriously. Is all of that crap really necessary? I don't CARE what overly-dramatic bullshit the admin thinks the song compares to. If there's a specific interesting point about the song, go ahead and say it, but for Cod's sake, don't post some half-assed poetic analyzing. That just makes you sound like a self-important prick. This is the rest of the guy's comments if you're curious:
http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01551/
The worst part is that this guy makes good remixes himself, so I'm caught between respecting his skill and being irritated by his diva personality.
Guess I can just do what I've always done... keep downloading new remixes and ignore the site members themselves. Seems to work. (This is where you can imagine a *rolls eyes* being inserted...)
So, different topic... the new kitten Soki is kind of driving me insane. I love him... during the day. At night, when Mom and Jonathan are gone, the cat starts getting into *everything*. He jumps behind the boxes in the corner of the dining room, he slithers in between the couch and the wall, he attacks the reclining chair in the living room, and he attacks the plastic bags in the kitchen. Even more, when he's not doing any of that, he takes to annoying me. I can't do *anything* for more than maybe five minutes before he catches my attention again.
And to top it all off, I'm absolutely terrified that he's going to pitch himself off of the top of the staircase one of these days. See, there's a little bend in the railing as you go up, so it can hook onto the wall next to my sister's old bedroom. However, there's nothing below the part of the railing that bends. No stairs. It's just an open area that would be a straight drop down to the main hall below. On more than one occasion, Soki has started running straight for that part, and I'm worried that he's going to go over it someday. If he does, he'll break something for sure. The problem is that I can't avoid him running for it. He follows me up the stairs every night, and when I leave the bathroom, he makes a dash for the stairs - or rather, that patch of the railing. I don't know why he runs like that. No matter how slow I move towards my room, he dashes like a maniac. Scares the hell out of me, and I just know we're going to have a dead cat someday because of it.
I really just want to prevent him from going upstairs altogether. He doesn't need to be up there. But there's no easy to way to block off the stairs. He's a jumper, so he'd find a way over any kind of barrier we put up. My only other option is to put him in his carrier at night. Like any animal, he can be trained to eat, drink, and use his litterbox at certain times of the day, so I may start trying to train him to do that.
Of course, a lot of this problem would be solved if Soki would just sleep at night and be active during the day. He's fine when it's more than just me here. He only becomes a spaz at night when he's alone with me and wide awake.
*sigh* I'm worried about him. I hope he calms down when he gets a little older. I can't deal with a cat like this every night. In some ways, I guess that makes it a good thing that I'm back in college in a week. Not that I'm looking forward to that, but at least it's something to do with my days...
I think I'm gonna end this now. That's basically all of the cat ranting that I need to do to Mom today...
See you, folks.

Three hundred sixty fifth entry - bling bling collars and thunderstruck moments

Time - 2:42, Noise - Red - "Already Over"
After a day with the new kitty, I'm beginning to learn some of his mannerisms. We finally decided on the name Soki. He's a sweetheart. He gets in your face and nuzzles all the time, and you can pet him pretty much anywhere and he doesn't get all growly like Tony often did. He does have a habit of jumping up on things he shouldn't (he leaped for my mouse hand a minute ago), and he chews on anything remotely cord/string-shaped. My hair included. ~_~;; But it bothered me a bit that he kept playing with the cords on my printer. It's not like it's plugged in, so it can't hurt him, but it can sure as hell hurt my printer.
We took the little guy to the vet yesterday, and he's okay in general, but he's got pretty bad ear mites. We're treating that for a while, but he'll be fine in the long run.
So... for the editing in my next video... I got, like, the *perfect* idea last night before I went to bed. I know exactly what I'll be doing for it now. I hope it turns out as well as I'm thinking. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.
Well... my computer has randomly restarted twice, Soki is in my lap, and I'm expecting a ride soon, so I think I better end this here.
See you, folks.

Three hundred sixty fourth entry - SQUEE!

Time - 7:37, Noise - Goo Goo Dolls - "Black Balloon"
I.
HAVE.
A.
KITTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And he's so cute! He's striped! And fluffy! And he has brown - not green, not yellow - eyes! And he cuddles! A lot! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
/me gushes love for teh kitten
If I get a decent picture of him, I shall share it. He keeps running up and into my face every time I try to snap a photo, so it'll be a little while yet.
But yeah... I wasn't expecting a fluffy kitty to appear in my midst for at least a few days. It was a pleasant surprise to come down here and see one roaming around. Of course, I'm not particularly pleased that I only have two weeks before I return to college and have to leave the kitten behind, but at least I get to SEE the thing before I go.
We haven't decided on a name yet, and my brother went to sleep, so I can't discuss it with him. We were thinking "Spot," after Data's cat in Star Trek, but I don't know. He doesn't look like a Spot. I know if I suggested anything anime-related, Jonathan will shoot it down. If I suggest anything videogame-related, Mom will call it retarded (she hates anything she doesn't understand... *sigh*). We'll have to keep thinking about it... but we'll need a name before tomorrow at 11, since that's his first vet appointment. I'm sure we'll come up with something.
I'm just happy to have a kitten now. We've badly needed a pet. The house is just too big and lonely without one. Hopefully Mr. Nameless Cat here will help that.
And with that, I think I'm going to go play a game... with the kitten sleeping at my feet. ^_^;;
See you, folks.

Three hundred sixty third entry - Ha! So I'm not the only one...

Time - 2:26, Noise - music from a video I never finished...
I would just like to take a moment to pointlessly gloat over the fact that I saw this before Eclipse did. >_>;;

Relatively Insignificant Victory for Ultima!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Fun fact: when I was still using Windows Movie Maker, I had started an Elfen Lied video to a strangely appropriate song (which I later determined would probably never work with ANY anime except EL). I got about a minute of it done, and just from that short span of video, I can already say that it was probably one of my best storytelling ideas ever - and it was turning out good in the editing, too!
Unfortunately, I stopped working on this video when a few things happened.
1. The project file went corrupt.
2. I had the DVDs, but no DVD drive to rip them with! I was using fansubs, which I wasn't too happy about, so I just put the video on hold until I could get proper footage.
3. I realized that my technical knowledge was sorely lacking, and I didn't want to make poor quality videos anymore. So I took a year off from editing and started studying the guides...
So why did I never go back to it? It's been about two years now. Well, thing is, when I did get my DVD drive, the first things I started trying to rip were videogames. A short time later, you guys saw The Chosen Two appear on the .org, as a product of me learning the ins and outs of my new drive. After that, I thought about finishing it, but by then, hundreds of Elfen Lied videos were appearing on the .org - and they had finally starting moving away from the violence aspect and towards the story. My video was supposed to be story-driven. One might say that my thunder had been stolen.
I still have the crappy .wmv beta on my computer, and I still intend to finish the video... someday. The next time I have a reason to rip Elfen Lied will be when I attempt that video again, and since I haven't gotten any decent EL ideas in a long time... that could be quite a while from now.
Well, it's thundering and raining pretty bad now, and before my computer winks out and baleets this entry, I'm gonna end it.
Nighty night, folks. <3

Three hundred sixty second entry - REVOLT~!
2007-08-21 19:15:37
Time - 5:43, Noise - song I'm thinkin' of using in a Tsubasa video... >_>
So liek... Ulty just left four opinions in a row. o_O
I dunno about the rest of you, but when you type as much as I do in one go, that's a LOT. Not to mention that I commented on several newly announced videos. Clearly this is all an effort to clean out my star ratings - and I still have five videos in my ratings left to go. I've already commented on some of them, but I've been considering opping a few, and I just need to jot down the rest.
By the way... if there's anyone that I still owe an opinion to... let me know. I'm flighty as hell when it comes to that kind of stuff. And slow. Mostly slow.
Oh, I Spider Princess'd yesterday again. Just a insignificant occurrence this time. I was doing the dishes (which takes me, like... two and a half hours, because I neglect them for two weeks... >_> ) and there was a little spider in the sink when I was cleaning it out and stacking the dishes. I let him get acquainted with the drain, and then later, there was another tiny one just over the windowsill behind the sink, unmoving. I think he was supervising my progress or something.
Think I better petition Mom to cook something tonight. I can't stand ramen again. It's not that I can't cook. I know HOW to do most things... I just have never done them, nor do I enjoy cooking enough to try. Hell, I made my very first grilled cheese sandwich last night. The first side was absolutely perfect... and then I burned the other side to holy hell, because I didn't expect it to brown so much quicker than the first side had.
Actually, while I'm thinking of frying pans, I may have her make me some eggs. Again, I could do it myself... but Mom's food is so much better! You ever notice that? Moms do it better! I wonder if having kids would miraculously make my cooking skills improve? I'd try, but...
...no. Sorry. I wouldn't. Nothing will EVAR get me to have a husband or kids. Marriage is pointless and kids are obnoxious. The skills of a master chef would not change that sad fact.
So! I'm off, hopefully to dine on my mother's awsm fewd. Anyone willing to take bets on how many spiders I attract tonight? XD
See you, folks.
