Eighth entry - excessive dropping of the f-bomb
2005-03-24 21:32:42
Time - 8:10, Noise - Frou Frou - "Let Go"
Wow. I just started watching Hellsing and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. (Well, Crispin Freeman stalked me to this anime Alucard, but that's okay - yes, I'm watching it in English.) It's nothing like I thought. I figured it would be a really really serious bloodfest, but there's not nearly as much battling as I thought and it has quite a few comedic moments. It's especially funny, as the title of this entry suggests, when I hear excessive usage of the f-bomb ("fuck", for those of you who have never heard that replacement term for the innocent.) The episode I just finished, number six, is a great example of Hellsing's comedy and excessive swearing.
On a related point, I heart Seras Victoria. She's so...cute!
What threw me off a little was hearing all of the voices with a British accent. Except Alucard. He's special, I guess. ~_~ *pets Alucard...and his gun* I want his hat, dude! Anyway, about the voices, I'll have to catch an episode or two in Japanese sometime to see how those voices sound (maybe I can find a fansub episode somewhere.) I'm not gonna go out and buy a DVD just for the sake of hearing the voices in Japanese. To be honest, I imagine that Alucard sounds relatively like he does in English. Crispin Freeman tends to do a VERY good job in staying true to the Japanese style of voice acting. Hey...am I the only one who notices that it says "Arucard" in the credits? I find that amusing. Crazy language barrier. I heart it so.
After Hellsing, I intend to see Card Captor Sakura if I can get ahold of it. Stupid local video store and their not-carrying of anime. *shakes fist*
Oh, one more thing. Does it seem strange that I couldn't figure out Integra was female until episode five??? Again, am I the only one who has had this issue? I just thought that she was a femmy dude! It's kind of hard to tell just from the voice, and the character itself is fairly androgynous, at least by Japanese standards. Maybe I'm just weird. Well, I AM weird, but maybe I'm just overthinking things.
Hey, this entry got long in a hurry...
*still getting her A Perfect Circle fix*
As always, Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!

Seventh entry - why, oh why!?
2005-03-24 17:36:08
Time - 4:31, Noise - Matchbox 20 - "Downfall"
Okay, I just gotta get this little rant out.
I AM SICK OF SEEING AH! MY GODDESS VIDEOS WITH THE WORD "GODDESS" IN THE TITLE!!!!!!!!!!!! MOREOVER, CAN'T PEOPLE USE SONGS WITHOUT SOMETHING TO DO WITH ANGELS OR GODDESSES!? GET A LITTLE FREAKIN' ORIGINALITY FOLKS!
Alrighty, I feel better now. Anyone who has made an Ah! My Goddess video and committed either of those annoyances, please don't take this too seriously. It's just one of the things that peeves me. Of course, now everyone is going to look at the titles of my videos and call me a hypocrite because half of my titles have something to do with the title of the game I used. Whatever. Smeh on you. I'm allowed to rant.

Sixth entry - I know you're wondering when
2005-03-24 15:12:18
Time - 1:52, Noise - Love Hina - "Ii Yu Da Na"
What a dumb song. That's why I love it. ^_^ You know, I'm on spring break right now, so I should really use this time to get cracking on my AMVs. I have so many ideas either partially in progress or burning to be done that I don't know where to start. Moreover, I'm still in my little standstill of AMV-making anyway, cuz I'm waiting for my DVD drive. I'm really tempted just to finish the fansub/Windows Movie Maker II video that I just barely started a few weeks ago. Thing is, it's an idea that I'm really fond of, so I want it to come out as good as it can. Stupid paradoxal desires...
Hey, I've done two opinions in two days. That's, like, a record for me. One of the opinions was on a fresh, new AuN Studios video that the creator himself suggested to me. It was such a touching Chobits romance video that I HAD to give him an opinion. I would have felt bad not doing it. The second opinion was on a really great, fast-paced action video from a practically unknown creator. Even though I didn't know most of the anime, the video just caught my eye so well that I knew he deserved an opinion. Besides, his video, awesome as it is, had no opinions on it, which confused me. Yeah, it was only a month "old", but still...videos that good just don't get ignored. His other two didn't have opinions, either, and I'm not sure why. So, I did the creator a favor, and gave him his first opinion ever. ^_^ Made me feel good. Speaking of opinions, I still have to give one to a video that I've had sitting in my star ratings menu since mid-December. The way I figure it, if I gave it a star rating, then I'd NEVER remember to give it the opinion it deserved. So, I'm keeping it unrated as a reminder to do my duty as an AMV viewer. To do the good thing. The righteous thing. The anime-obsessee thing. Damn straight.
Hmm...I've been on the computer all day. And I've downloaded 40 or more AMVs in that period of time. Maybe I should leave it alone for a while... *backs away slowly*
I guess I'll stop here before I get carpal tunnel from too much typing and stuff. Just what I'd need. Dysfunctional wrists at age seventeen. *raspberry at the disorder*
As always, Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!

Fifth entry - an orange tinted sky
2005-03-19 21:40:14
Time - 8:23, Noise - Michelle Branch - "You Set Me Free"
I just finished watching FLCL. What an utterly odd anime. Not bad by any means, just...weird. The only thing I don't like is all the loose ends. There are too many plotlines that aren't quite tied up properly I think. Then again, that's the way of a Gainax anime, isn't it? Always looking to confuse the viewer and make him/her question the story. It kind of makes me wonder what the manga is like. The anime is so fast-paced, both with its story and imagery that I wonder how they put it into manga. You know, though, I probably wouldn't have initially known it was Gainax had I not seen the logo in the intro parts. However, when you examine the plot elements, it's easier to see that. For example, the whole animated manga part in the first episode is something that I mentally linked with Kare Kano when I saw it because that anime had a motion-manga part in it as well. Also, subways, telephone poles, bridges, et cetera, are all things that appear frequently in Gainax anime. This was true for FLCL as well. What probably would have thrown me the most was the animation. It reminds me of Kare Kano except much smoother and...well...digitized, I guess. I probably wouldn't have linked Fooly Cooly with Neon Genesis Evangelion on the simple basis that the humor was much wilder than what Eva ever had. However, FLCL was pretty well on par with Kare Kano in that department, but even crazier. Overall, I think FLCL is a pretty good anime, but it's definitely not one of my favorites. As far as AMVs go, it really demands comedy, so I'm not sure that I'll ever make a video with it. An action/comedy, MAYBE, but probably never a true comedy.
Oh, and just cuz I feel like mentioning it, I HEART Haruko's Japanese voice. It's so cute.
*insert motto here*

Fourth entry - did I ever think of you...
2005-03-19 19:41:09
Time - 6:19, Noise - Hajime Mizoguchi - "Grace Omega"
Hoo boy. Way to go Jen. I just managed to make my mother mad enough at me that she's not speaking. Whatever. She can fume all the wants. All I did was give her an honest answer to a question she asked. If she couldn't handle that answer, then that's her problem. You'd have to know the situation to understand what her crusade against me is all about, but it's a long story, so I won't bother explaining.
On a happier note, I just started watching FLCL. Imagine my surprise when I realize it's only six episodes long. It's kind of an odd series so far (I've only watched the first two episodes.) It makes me interested to see the rest. I did a little check and noticed that there's an awful lot of videos made with this series. I've heard that it's pretty popular, but I didn't think that only six episodes could cause that much of a stir. Oh well. I guess I'll find out what all the fuss is about when I finish it.
Well, I don't have anymore really, so I think I'll just go back to watching the anime.
A a, F, G L, a H AMV!
Howz that for a shortened version of my motto? ^_^ Nah, I thought it sucked too.
