  • DDR rant.. 2002-12-20 11:46:40 The DDR Project(s) are to the point that I hate them, and think they are rediculous. A great deal of people want to be on the projects for only a few reasons:
    1. They want to be part of a big project in hopes of gaining some reckognition.
    2. They want bragging rights that they were part of a project.
    3. They want bragging rights that they were part of a project with various 'big name' creators. In a way trying to say/show they are equal to them (regardless if it's true or not).
    4. They think it's a way to show to the world how bad ass they are, etc... (regardless if it's true or not).

Then people make their own DDR projects, etc... because:
    1. They want to brag that they where the head of the project.
    2. They didn't get into one of the other projects.
    3. One of the first list of reasons.

People may say how can I talk when I put my name in for the next project. Ah...but I put my name in and told Kusyaro that I would prefer to just be a backup. This is because I had friends who worked on the last two projects. Near the end, people dropped out and so they tried to help out and carry the slack. It was alot of stress on my friends, and I offered my services to help out. Not to be part of some big project, but to help out the project, to help it come about. In other words I'm offering my help to the project, I'm not wanting to be part of the project for my own selfish reasons.

Personally I would like to see the project not be a competition but a coorporation, where expecially new creators are given tracks and helped and coached through making a good AMV.

If you want to make a DDR AMV you don't need to be part of some project. You should make AMVs that you want to make, because you will find some enjoyment in making the video. Yes there are contests, but those are to help give you motivation to improve your skills. But you shouldn't sell yourself out. Make stuff you will enjoy, don't make stuff just because you can.

  • Incrediable friends. 2002-12-19 12:33:09 Sometimes a person can forget how incrediable their own friends are. Last night was my social group's 'Christmas' party. Which usually consists of the girls giving the guys presents, and the guys doing nothing, maybe bringing candy. This year recently I've been going through some hard times emotionally, and they knew it. I'm more the 'leader' of the group, and so I work hard to not show my problems and hurt, but they could still see it. This year at the party they each gave me a gift, and it made me feel really good. The gifts didn't matter, but it was their way of showing that they cared. They really are incrediable.
  • birthdays 2002-12-16 13:44:57 Yesterday was Sarina and Jason's birthdays. They are one year apart. Sarina was my bestfriend for a while, but she moved away to Washington. Jason is a real close friend of mine as well. <grin> Well yesterday as a treat to Sarina I called her up to talk with her. It's expensive to call Washington but she enjoyed hearing from me. I enjoyed hearing her voice as well. Now I need to pack up some stuff to send her up north for Christmas. Jason on the other hand had to work till 11:30pm at night on Saturday, so for Sunday he slept in and then had to deal with family. I'm still plotting what we will do next week for his birthday and Christmas. I had originally planned to take him to Disneyland, but that's sort of out the window for now. I am realizing with my house buying that I can't do that. Oh and I didn't get the house. :( The accepted another offer that offered them more money. Oh well. The house fell out of Escro twice now, so it won't surprise me if it falls out of Escro again. Maybe they will accept my offer then. Oh and today is Teri's birthday so I put her video up as a sort of present.
  • DDR 3rd project 2002-12-12 14:29:47 Well I signed up for the lottery but I don't really care about such. I'm mainly signed up so that I can be an alternate. So many people drop out and usually they have the best tracks to. I rather help out then be screaming for a track. It's not that big of a deal. It was okay, but when I showed it at a convention the audience was more then lack luster.

  • Present 2002-12-11 09:58:56 I was having a very big dillema over what to get my friend for Christmas and his birthday this year. His birthday is this weekend. Well... I've been friends with him for 13 years but it's only been the last two years that we really became friends. The sort that you talk to each other and are friends with...if that makes any sense. In the past I've just sent him a note wishing him well, and 'virtual' gifts. This was because we communicated mainly via e-mail, etc... I sent him a poem last year for his birthday. However since last year we have been hanging out in person, and he's about the closest friend I've got right now. So obviouslly the denotes present giving of some kind. For most of my other male friends I give them Hentai. Yes, I buy a bunch of random Hentai Doujinshi's and that's what they get. I call it giving Smut for Christmas, and the guys love it. However my friend I don't see as the Smut type person. I wouldn't feel right giving him such.

Lets see... He's also a neat freak, and is obsessive compolsive. He's interests are in old radios, and radio equipment, lens and cameras. All of which I know little to nothing about. He didn't even have a tv until a few days ago. His old one broke. I was tempted to buy him a new tv but he's so picky...so I didn't. He also would be upset with me for getting him such an expensive gift. He also dosn't like the whole gift giving/exchanging thing. I don't care about that. I'm rather use to all the males I know not giving me presents. But I get the fun of looking at the smut I give them first. (I have to make sure it's quality smut <grin>). Basically I use birthdays and christmas as an excuse to spoil my friends alittle. Since I'm buying a house and will be basically broke, this is the last year for awhile that I'll get to spoil my friends. :( So I'm trying to figure out what to give my one friend for christmas.

It finally hit me. He's into music. He has a large collection of music. I know that I could just give him a CD, but I don't know if he'll like it. I could get him a gift certificate but that's so impersonal, and I save that sort of thing for family members. So then it hit me. What I'm doing is making a bunch of CDs, copied from my CDs and my sister's CDs, and putting them into a carrier. The CDs not only will be there, but a print out of the cover and what's on each album. I figure this way he will get a variety of music and he's bound to like one or more of them. If he has a few of them, that's okay as well. Now I just hope he doesn't read this journal, but he's not likely to. He's so busy with work. Maybe next year I'll get him that day at a spa. It would help with his stress.
