- Spirited Away 2002-09-30 14:20:59 I saw Spirited Away yesterday. It was rather good. It felt like a Japanese Alice in Wonderland. I also about died when the pink shoe floated past as it reminded me to much of the red shoe in the Utena movie. Someone tried to tell me it was closer to Wizard of Oz, but I don't see it. Girl in the meadow, is like Alice with her sister before chasing the rabbit. They go threw a tunnel, very much like a hole. There was the hole door way/handle thing when the girl went to see the sorceroress who seemed very much like the Queen of Hearts, while looking more like the duchess. The No-Name god was her battle with jabberwocky. Her parents turning into pigs is like the baby who turns into a pig. Ofcourse you have the duchess looking character taking care of a baby. The No-name god also was sort of the cheshire cat. The boy was the white rabbit. The train ride is from Into the Looking Glass as was the hoping light that took her into a dark woods, where I was screaming it was Tulgey woods. The ending was abit weak, and I would have liked to see the boy appear to be a neighbor or go to her school. It still was enjoyable. The audience laughed when the Title: Spirited Away came up and the subtitles then read: Spirited Away. The same thing happened during The End. Ofcourse someone commented about the parade of curtains we had to sit through. They had three sets of currents that had to be opened before the show started. Then between the previews and the main film they closed one set of curtains and reopened it. I don't think I'll ever go to the El Capitan again. The entire middle section of chairs was 'reserve' seats, which cost $25 a person. Which having reserve seats is fine, but no mention of it was made. So we got in to the theater to find all the good seats gone. The entire middle section lower and upper were sold out. It was really annoying.

Now I have Revell attacking me. It's really funny. I give legal facts to back up my statements while he just says I'm crazy and because of such he doesn't have to justify or explain his actions. You don't try and stop illegal activites by committing illegal actions yourself.
I feel really sorry for the staff...
1. They have to work long hours and yet still have to pay to be staff.
2. At one point they were required to work a car wash to raise money for the convention, and don't forget they were still paying for the convention.
3. Last year Revell made one staff member work 48 hours stright, was told he could not sleep by Revell. (He even told another staff member that he couldn't go to the bathroom at one point).
4. Moral is terriably low. (Last December 80% of the staff left due to thier dis-satisfaction with Revell)
5. You have to register with Revell what hotel room your staying in for the convention.
6. Revell plans to have his staff illegally search their hotel rooms.
7. They don't have enough staff, so those few remaining staff will have to work even harder.
8. They will have to deal with all sort of problems that Revell has set them up for.
Revell decided having a DDR Machine would be to expensive. (The owner of the machine wanted some sort of compensation. Why did it not cross Revell's mind to offer the owner that he gets all the money the machine makes. Yeah we hate to pay for DDR but paying is better then no DDR at all. The Owner of the machine would have been happy with that I'm sure, as the machine would get alot more traffic/buisness at the convention then it would at his store that weekend).
Revell decided that the convention couldn't afford projectors and that TV sets will have to do for the video rooms. He also kicked out/fired the person who was arranging for free projectors.
Revell kicked out the person running the AMV contest, and who has all the tapes. (I'm giving them the tapes, but I could be nasty and not do that, but I'm actually nice). The over worked Arroyo brothers will have even more work to do now.

Ani-Magic still sucks. I feel sorry for those people who are going to the convention. Wasting their money for something that will turn out horriable. Oh well.
I wish I got some feedback on my videos. I currently have Hiko's Song hosted on my web site. It has 3000+ hits over the time it's been on the site and not a single review. Sigh.

Ok I am sick of this crap filling up my email so I will give my 2
cents. Ok the point is no matter what they MAY have said, the Hotel does
not reserve the right to let us search rooms, a room check is ok, but to
do a full search, you must have Sheriff involvement. Another point,
having been an assist in its creation, the constitution does not state
that we give up our rights to be on staff, it says we will abide by the
rules to make it a wholesome con, but that does not gives rights for a
search, if that was in the bylaws I would bet money they would not have
passed. Next I think is it low and pathetic to try using the fact that
someone is trying to use the fact that Cynthia is just stating her
rights as an excuse to try and sack her from the con.
I also find it very insulting that this explanation email is not
personally signed but has the Officers signature on it, in which I find it
annoying that MY fathers signature is placed on an email that I know for
a fact he knows NOTHING about!
This is the kind of things that makes staff members leave, not
Lorraine, not SDF-O, THIS BULL SHIT!

Basically he states it very clearly. To bad I've been kicked out of running the AMV contest. No AMV Contest, No AMV panel. That's besides that they will have No Projectors, and No DDR Machine. Not only are they kicking me out of my position, they want to kick me out of being at the convention at all. They want to kick me out my hotel room even.

There is a topic in the forums that goes on and on. Everyone saying what they are currently working on. I felt I would answer this time in my journals.
Would you believe that Anneke, the maker of such fine Yaoi AMVs as Big Thing, Corporate Sex Slave, Adore Me and Suichi's Question, is currently working on a Hentai video. Yep. I'm making a video using hentai footage, focusing on the male/female sex in it. Don't blame me, I've had the song sitting around for ages.
I'm use to not having hosting, and now I'm getting use to the fact I can't or shouldn't host some of my videos due to their adult content. Well I also know there are few contests that allow adult videos. I plan on entering CSS to Mindwarp's contest, but I felt I would be nice this time and send a hentai video as well. It's just something I'm putting together just to get the song off my list of AMVs to be made. Figure it will be a reward to Machine and the others for having to sit through my yaoi vid. And CSS is a very yaoi vid.
On a related topic, I wish people would stop requesting on my poll that I host CSS. I can't due to the adult nature of the piece. I could lose my hosting, and maybe more importantly, I don't want children (people under 16, preferably 18) to download it.
I have been burning CDs like crazy for the last few days, and will continue to do so into the future. I'm hoping to have alot to give out at Yaoi-con. I predict the response to CSS will be good, and there will be people wanting a copy of it. I don't predict it winning, but I can see several people wanting it on their computer. It does give a good view of what Boku No Sexual Harasement is about.
So after the Hentai title... I may return to my Vampire Hunter D pointless video (Ouch...bad pun). Or move on to an Utena Movie action/dance video (I found a really good song that I currently use as my morning alarm music). I also had an idea for an artistic Kenshin video I want to do, but currently searching for the right piece of music. I have a song I've been wanting to use that works okay, and I may use it, if I don't find anything better.
I've been watching Rose of Versaille as I burn copies of my videos. It's a very good series, and I really want to do a tragic dramatic video to it. If you haven't seen the series it's about the French Revolution. Plenty of sadness and death. I'm more then half way through the series in three days. I've been watching 2 tapes or 8 episodes a day. I'd watch more, but I do need sleep.
