Yaoi-con Action
2002-10-15 09:24:51
I'm currently giggling. There was a report on the stats for the Yaoi-con video entries. Just how many of each type ect... There was a comment that there were very few 'Action' videos, and that they didn't know what sort of video qualifies as 'Action' for a Yaoi-con contest. See I submitted a video to the 'action' category, because Sex is an activity and therefore technically 'Action'. Because I can tell you the video isn't Dramatic and it's not comedy either, it's just pure sex. I really can't wait to see how my video is responded to at Yaoi-con. People may like it, or they may not understand the whole thing. There actually is a twisted idea behind it. Well more so then Suichi's Question. Which I also can't wait to see people's reaction to. There are only minor changes to the video, but Suichi's Question was created for Yaoi-con, and there is a note of that in the video. I also can't wait to see Fungie's Videos. He sent a few.
I was going to work on my current project last night, but my male friend got onto chat, and I just kept being distracted. I did send him the song for the video and he enjoyed it.

CDs

Vegetto... I think you have some valid points. However I like to get feedback to know what to improve because frankly I don't know most of the time. Sure I'm not very likely to remake the video (but I have remade some of my videos, I just don't tend to have time to remake them), but by having pointed out the flaws in the video, I can work to improve my next video.
Examples... Alot of the reviews will point out a flaw I already knew existed, but I know for my Ketsurui video someone mentioned that I could have used a certain effect in one area to help make the violence less. I may not go back and fix the video, but I now have an idea to watch for violence in my future endevours and think about apply the effect mentioned.
The biggest thing had to be my Suichi's Question video. I knew I was going to remake it for Yaoi-con, and the feedback I got at the Shoujo-con convention helped alot. Certain scenes I thought that worked didn't. Other scenes worked that I didn't expect to. So asking for feed back is not such an evil thing. I'm happy to give out CDs to those people who like my work, and those average Joe Anime convention person, I don't expect feedback from them. I do want and like and hope to get feedback from creators because they will see things I don't see. They help me to analyse my own videos better.
Now onto another topic... Which I can't remember at this time... oh well.

Convention Dreams...
2002-10-02 16:40:48
I'm already planning what conventions I want to go to next year. I made it to the following conventions this year:
Katsucon 2002 - Which had a terriable AMV contest
Fanime 2002 - The AMV contest was messed up due to creators bitching
Anime Expo 2002 - The AMV contest had technical diffeculties, and delayed
Shoujo-con 2002 - The AMV contest went of wonderfully.
Ani-Magic 2002 - Okay I'm not attending this one. But then No AMV contest.
Yaoi-con 2002 - It hasn't happened yet, but should be an okay contest.
I go to conventions for the people, but stay for the AMV contests. I just had a bad year with contests that I attended. Oh well. The plans for next year are:
Fanime 2003 - It will hopefully be better this year.
Anime Expo 2003 - I'm only going because it's local.
Shoujo-con 2003 - Hopefully the great friends I made at Shoujo-con 2002 will lend me some crash space again. ;) If Otakon is the weekend after Shoujo-con and if I have the time off, I may stay for Otakon. If I do this I may not be able to afford to go to AWA, but currently the plan is to go to AWA next year.
AWA 2003 - If I have the money, and time off.
Yaoi-con 2003 - A must.
I figure I was able to go to the East coast twice for conventions, and once for a vacation, I should be able to afford to attend two conventions next year. However I'm also trying to buy a house. <sigh> Maybe I'll go back to selling stuff on E-bay for extra fun spending money.

Worked on Heterosexuality last night. It's actually coming along okay. I'm not worried about the timing to much, but most likely will fix the timing before I'm done. I still have large sections to fill, and I don't know what I'm going to do with the ending either. You would think finding four minutes worth of sex footage wouldn't be hard.
I'm also cracking up over my friend who called me last night. He was telling me how much he was enjoying reading Harry Potter for the first time, and that Harry was about to confront Snape in the dungeon, having just finished the potions puzzle. For those who have read the book, they know why I would laugh. Because he's only sentances away from learning the book is more entertaining then first discovered.
I put up: For Kaoru on my web site. Hopefully I'll get some feedback on it. This weekend will be the failed Ani-Magic convention. No AMV contest for those who haven't heard. Next week I think I'm going to offer Kagome in Wonderland again, followed by who knows what (if I get Fungie's CD, I think I'll offer up one of his videos). I'll most likely put Suichi's Question up on Thursday the 17th, for those people who can't attend Yaoi-con, to have some yummy footage to look at. Those attending Yaoi-con will want to find me, as I will have 50 CDs of my videos to hand. Including those videos I don't offer to the public currently, due to content.

Almost pasted the wrong thing...

I have my plans for the rest of this year and next year for what videos I plan on making for what contests. I set up things this way, to give me due dates of when I need to finish the various videos by. They also get out of my mind and I don't worry about making them if I have them set up as a goal for a specific contest. This worked well with Suichi's Question and CSS.
Right now I'm finishing up Heterosexuality for MindWarp's Winter contest. I think I've decided on my next project, which will urge me to finish up my current one, because I really want to get into it. It's going to take alot of work, and as such it's planned for entering at AX 2003. So far it's only called End. People could guess forever and never be able to guess this music and anime combination. Then I'm using an obscure instrumental piece and yet it's not that obscure. I do tend to use unqiue music. Or pieces people will hear and think to themselves they have heard that piece before, but can't place it.
I don't know/think I'll ever go back to my Vamp D project. Atleast not till the newest of it, and it being overused is done. So maybe a few years I'll go back to it. The project after End... Depending on how long End takes me... I may even hold off on it and turn my two Utena video ideas into quick projects to work on during the Nov-Feb months as that is the time I tend to have for AMV editing as I don't have Ren. Faires on the weekends. I was suppose to finish Heterosexuality this weekend, but I've been playing with my Harry Potter Audio Book CDs, and making copies of my AMV CDs (I have 50 to give out at Yaoi-con, and I know the fan girls will eat them up, if they don't they carry over to Fanime...) Oh Panic... I forgot about Fanime... I guess one of Utena projects will have to go to Fanime. Ofcourse I should just make End and send it to Fanime because my best video ideas never seem to even make the finals at AX.
So I have End to make, 2 Utena projects and then I can work on Dog, my fun fluff video. I'll need a break after End and the 2 Utena ones to work on something light and fun. I just dread having to work with the Inu-Yasha DVDs again, after the nightmare I had with them when I was working on Kagome in Wonderland (crashes after every other cut or edit).
I have some other songs that would make fun AMVs but I can't think of Animes for them. I still have my Trigun project I want to eventually do, but it will have to wait till I have more hours in a day to work on it. Hopefully no one thinks of the idea before me. I was planning on doing something with a Muppets song but I was beat to that at AWA, at least I was only into my intial plan stage of trying to find the right music/anime combination.
I also have plans for what next years Shoujo-con/Yaoi-con entries will be. However I don't think they will be nearly as good as this year. They are my 'back-up' ideas that I decided not to do this year because I had better ideas come to mind. I hope I get some better ideas before Shoujo-con/Yaoi-con next year. I did this year, but fear there is only so much I can do with Yaoi footage. Expecially after CSS, Big Thing, and Suichi's Question. I guess that is why I have friends to torment me with ideas. It's how I came across Suichi's Question.
Oh, and Hi Fungie! Why am I saying Hi? because I can. :P
