  • Lost inspiration 2004-08-20 22:59:30 So...

I stopped working on "Remember" like 3 weeks ago. Just not inspired anymore. I think it is mostly because it is a repetative electronica piece. I find it hard to do videos to electronica because it is so repetative. To me, it is hard to make the video interesting since it is the same beat over and over.

I spent the last three weeks trying to find a new piece of music and decide which anime I would use for a new project and settled upon "Paths" by Apocalyptica to Tenchi Muyo! I am liking this one so far and think it will be an entertaining video to watch. Hopefully I will have something to show in the next couple of weeks.
  • 2004-07-22 09:47:32 Work has stopped on "Remember" for the time. I have to start over. The video footage I was using was HORRIBLE. I got a new DVD ripper and the video quality is much improved. Once I finish ripping all of the footage, I will start to re-assemble the video. Anything worth doing is worth doing right.
  • The learning process is never endings... 2004-07-15 19:03:04
    Work still continues with "Remember"

In my previous videos, I always used a"Best Fit" approach in timing the scenes to the beat. It was generally hit or miss. The video either approximated the beat, or was pretty damn sloppy.

This time around, I am actually editing the scenes to make them fit - cutting, and adding frames - so the video lines up better with the music. Of course, I won't get it perfect the first time around. But, with this experience, my videos will get better over time.

Yay learning! Or something like that.
  • And the work continues... 2004-07-14 12:50:40
My work on Remember continues. Alot of work for this one so far. Not sure what it is about El Hazard - Not sure if it is the video itself, or my DVD ripper, but there are some "bad" frames in alot of the scenes where there is motion. I have been having to cut these out, and it is just time consuming. I suppose it is worth it though, since it will only make the video look better, and not thrown together. Ah, how we suffer for our art ;)
  • Inspiration for a new video. 2004-07-12 18:44:44 So, there I was, looking for music to inspire me for my next video. My last video really took alot out of me. It was a difficult video to make because the target audience was one person in particular. She really enjoyed it, so that is the important part. Was listening to my BT "Rare and Remixed" CD and I found just the song I wanted to use for my next video.

The song is "Remember". Of course, the song is far too long to use for a video (6:20), and I can't figure out what anime I would use... I spun the song in my head for a few hours and decided on the perfect anime for that song - El Hazard.

The whole premise of Ifurita and Makoto's meeting is all about remembering, so I think it will work quite well. The only problem now is figuring out where I want to cut the song so it isn't too long to make a video out of. I think I know where this should be, and would make the total play time about 3:52, which is just fine in my opinion.

As I type this, El Hazard is ripping to hard drive.
