in my field of paper flowers...
2001-10-18 15:38:22
I feel and look like a bum. It's so cold in the office that I've been wearing my fleece all morning.
Leandra played some Thai pop music for me over the phone the other day...REALLY cool stuff. I've already got a video idea. Maybe I'd have her translate the songs for me, so I could do a subtitled version too...so I wouldn't get all those inquiries like I did for Dreams Come True. She only has cassettes, though :( She says she can possibly hook me up with CDs, but it sounds expensive.
Got my grubby hands on my new DVD player! Yay, UPS came through after all. Can't wait to go home and watch Black Heaven on it.
YES! I am now listening to an mp3 of "Imaginary" by Evanescence! Took me forever to locate this song. Thanks to Nick Corbo and Dave Peterson.

War and Peace, vol. 1

Argh. I forgot to scan something for EK yet again. I even have the thing I need scanned IN the scanner...I just didn't get around to plugging the scanner in and actually doing the scanning. But maybe it's not my fault...I blame it on...Black Heaven! I sat down last night to watch the last episode on volume 6 of Trigun (kinda disappointing, but it was fun switching over to the dub track when Vash sings in the darkness), and then I decided to try watching ONE episode of Black Heaven, since I'd had it in my hands for weeks already. I ended up watching 5 or 6 episodes, and then it was either sleep or be miserable at work the next morning. For some reason I'd been led to believe that I wouldn't like Black Heaven, but I absolutely loved it. I'm not even sure why. But the last time I voluntarily sat down and watched THAT many episodes of an anime in a row was probably 3 years ago when I first watched Maison Ikkoku. No video ideas yet, though...it's a pretty story and character based anime, so the visuals probably wouldn't make too much sense out of context. Don't like the outer space CG, though.
Does anyone else here live alone? Do you find receiving packages to be annoying? Whenever I get a package from the post office, I don't actually *get* it until the next day because I always have to go to the post office to pick it up. UPS is even worse...I have to specifically call them, and listen to a 5-minute informational message before I can tell the people there to take my package off the truck and let me pick it up the next day. And it's even more annoying when I make the call and they STILL forget to take it off the truck, wasting a 20-minute one-way trip to UPS during lunch. I wish there was some way to get UPS to default to "Final Attempt" for me(after that they automatically take it off the truck and make me pick it up anyways). I feel bad that the delivery guy has to come to my door 3 times for every package anyway, unless I call. My company doesn't let people use the mailroom here for personal things either. Speaking of which, my region-free Pioneer DVD player is finally here! If they took it off the truck like I asked, I'll be picking it up during lunch today.
Finally got my first DDR track online. I'll probably be rotating through these every week or two...including the Stifler's Mom videos. I've already used up the 70 megs on both mine and my brother's Duke accounts. I need to find some other Dukies who aren't using their ACPUB accounts ^_^ paizuri graduated before they upgraded the accounts to 70 megs, so he only has like 20 megs...should be enough to dump Ugly Girl up there, though. At least they're not complaining about the bandwidth...Dreams of Earth ate up 32 gigs of transfer in the last week of September alone.
I need to either get a Discman with ESP (my Discman dates back to 1992, but it still works fine as long as it doesn't get jarred) or a CD/tape deck so I can make tapes off of CDs...going to the gym is just fucking BORING without my own music to listen to. Nothing like Linkin Park's "In the End" blaring over the gym radio to make me want to just drop the weights and go home.
Anyone else find that they have to put disclaimers all over their webpage to keep from getting stupid emails? After I got yet ANOTHER email from someone asking which animes I was distributing, I had to put a big "I DO NOT DISTRIBUTE ANIME!" on my webpage. Not that it really helps, but at least now I can ignore such emails without feeling mean.
What a long journal entry. I will now use an appropriate title for the subject line.

On my way back from UPS during lunch I got on the freeway in the wrong direction. Took me about 5 miles worth of unfamiliar exits to notice, too.
Speaking of UPS, picked up my package from Amazon.com today...I opened it up, and on my CD there was a hand-written Post-it note reading "Needs new jewel case!" and a big gash down the side of the case. Sigh...I really don't care since I have about 50 jewel cases lying around at home, but it's still annoying. I still remember when paizuri opened his special edition Akira DVD from Buy.com and I burst out laughing at the horribly mangled tin. I think he ended up returning it and getting it cheaper from Best Buy anyway.
beautifulgarbage: Is that really Shirley Manson? Since when did she start singing like a 17-year-old? I sincerely hope "Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go!)" is some kind of joke. Too many bad videos will be coming from this, I can feel it...so I will stay away.
Oh yeah, and I re-added Sarah McLachlan to the artists list, since people don't know how to spell her frickin' name.
::cringe:: I finally went through and finished listing EVERY video I've ever done. My main page is now Too Goddamn Big. I did it for the sake of completeness, but in all honesty a lot of those old videos are just plain embarassing. Damn that's a lot of videos. I feel so icky.
Holy shit. I've got as many videos listed as Stupid Guy. Time to slow down.
I'm really excited that EK'll be helping me out with a new project...a significant portion of it wouldn't be possibly without the help of her skills. A Big Big Kusoyaro production. Ha ha, KIDDING!

Man oh man...I'm getting that old feeling again. That feeling where I'm so damn excited about an AMV that I can't sleep because of it. I feel really recharged though, because I haven't felt like this since the first month I was making AMVs, where I was home for the summer, with all the time in the world...pumping out 1 or 2 videos per week, because the ideas just kept coming and coming, and they all felt like gems to me.
These two videos that are giving me this newfound excitement would be the most ambitious I've ever attempted...I really really hope I can pull them off. Been learning a few technical tricks from Tim Park, which I will definitely need...and will possibly need to enlist the help of someone who's really good at using Photoshop for the overblown, pretentious title screen that I have envisioned. Alas, I wouldn't be able to commission them, since it would be illegal...but it would be a fairly involved bit of work on their part.
*twitch twitch*...need......source.....must start work on video....
Berserk ended on a wicked cliffhanger last night...ep 23...really creepy fucking imagery, too. But then I had to go to bed. Can't wait to go home today and finish watching it. No Berserk video, though...the show is good, but nothing close to what I had imagined, so no ideas.
I'm starving. I need to start eating breakfast.

you never give me your money...

Don't worry Lord Rae, the song I heard wouldn't have been on the radio. For one, it's older than the majority of the people on this site, and it wasn't even a single.
Got another Best Buy rebate gift card in the mail today...had enough money to re-buy Abbey Road (after having lost it years ago) and the Shamanic Princess DVD. ROCK.
