Ick. I have what I *think* might be a cool idea for one of those AMV badges, but that'd require me to buy something that's useless to me just so I can scan it in (it's totally generic, nothing copyrighted...hard to explain without stating outright what it is). Maybe I can locate one here at the office somewhere.
Goddamn, the chorus of Live's "Hero of Love" is amazing. I get chills when he croons, "All of these things are written in the sand behind me...Oh! I dream about you every night...I call your name. The whole world thinks that I am insane." I'm always the guy who buys the newest albums from formerly trendy bands whose shelf-life expired years ago. Except for Pearl Jam. All of their albums after Vitalogy sucked.
Finally finished a collaborative story between Paizuri on www.iwillpretendtocare.com. It was a great story...about a man and his magical, aphrodisiacal Lava Lamp. I ended it with him inadvertantly transforming into a vampire and saving Terra Bullay (say it out loud), his life-long love. You'd have to read it to understand :P

Ah, a trip down Penny, er, memory lane...

The story:
On one not-so-special day, I sat down with an editing program I had never seen before and decided to muck around and try to learn it. 3 hours later, I had cobbled together my first ever piece of editing, and my obsession with AMV making was born. It's also where I cleverly laid a trap for myself by typing "Kusoyaro Productions" on the title screen purely on a whim.
The file is only 8 megs or so, but it still manages to suck with a vengeance.

Holeeee shee-it! I was trying to open a program last night and accidentally clicked open Ulead instead (which hasn't been working since I installed Premiere and my DV500)...and lo and behold, it worked!!! Awwww yeah. I now have the superior layering abilities of Premiere and the superior...everything else...of Ulead, at my disposal, and I plan to use both to their full advantage on all future videos. It probably sounds like a pain in the ass to simultaneously use two editing programs with incompatible project files, but that extra annoyance will be worth circumventing the Premiere BS which costs me hours of editing time! Ulead's instant screen preview is nearly as good as the DV500's real-time TV-out preview anyway.
Ah. I feel whole again.
I'm trying really hard to make this work last long. I'm doing a little, then goofing off, then doing a little more, etc. But it's still only going to take a few hours. Rats.

I HAVE WORK TO DO! YES!! Well, not much :(
Conversation with the boss-man that just ended a few minutes ago:
Boss: Hey, I've got some stuff for you to work on.
Me: Okay, great.
Boss: Knowing you, this will probably take you all of a couple hours. <explain explain> blah blah...need these signal pathways defined..blah blah
Me: Hmmm, I mapped out all the signal pathways 2 months ago.
Boss: Oh. Well, okay, then you're almost done. Then all you need to do is blah blah.... Oh, and you have two and a half weeks to do this.
Me: Argh (silently).
Guess I'll get cracking on this, work straight to 6 PM tonight, and then be bored for the next two and a half weeks -.-

Capturing for my new video has officially begun. Based on how fast I normally capture nowadays, I'm estimating that the editing fever will hit somewhere around the first week of February. I feel bad though, because I own the source for this video, but I'm currently borrowing around 20 DVDs from various friends for use in future videos...I feel kind of pressured to do those videos first, but it feels like the time is right for this current one. I think I'm aiming towards Animazement or Anime Central...
I still don't know exactly what to do with the song yet. I'm almost certain I'm going to edit it, not for length, but for content...I don't like the way the song ends, so I want to change it. Just not exactly sure how yet. Crap. EK, I might be asking for your opinion on the matter in the near future.
I'm really glad the Duke goons didn't come up this weekend...it was a good weekend to get a LOT of stuff done. Shopping, cleaning, etc...all the things that I hate to use up those meager after-work weekday hours for. Been spending too much money eating out in that past week, so I picked up some groceries and will be cooking all this week.
The Duke ski trip has taken an interesting turn...instead of my friends coming up for the weekend, all but one of them has dropped out...so THAT person, in turn, has decided to invite THEIR friends to come up to stay in MY apartment. There's more than one thing I can find wrong with this, but seeing as how there's little to no chance of this trip actually happening, I'm not too worried. They plan to arrive next Saturday at 1 am, go skiing the next morning, and then leave Sunday night. Right.
Really looking forward to the Duke/Maryland game on Thursday.
My supervisor's currently mailing me file after file...which means that once I get them all, I'll have WORK to do!!!!
This week will suck, but next week will suck more.
