Damn insurance companies...I've been calling around for quotes, and these companies are asking for exhorbitant amounts. Probably because of my ONE super-fucking-lame violation; I went back to South Carolina one Christmas break and was driving around in a familiar area that I'd driven through 1000 times at 1 or 2 in the morning. Evidently a new stop sign had been installed in the past few weeks, and because it was dark and I had no idea it was there, I ran it. That EXACT second a siren flared up behind me. The cop stopped me, and when I looked back, I saw 3 other cop cars hidden in the dark right by the new stop sign. MotherFUCKERS. I'm sure there was a more pressing crime that those 4 cops could have been out stopping that night. I bet those dickheads were taking turns and making bets about how long it would be until the next unlucky bastard got stuck in their little trap. But yeah, anyway, those 4 assholes are probably going to end up costing me 50 extra bucks a month on car insurance.
Still don't understand why my quotes are so high though...my friend has a fucking RECKLESS DRIVING violation, and his insurance is half as much as mine would be.
Why is it so fucking complicated to get a car registered and insured?

Ski trip was kind of a success. I had no idea they were going to bring 13 people! 14 people staying in a cramped one-bedroom apartment was...interesting. I have two walk-in closets, and people were forced to sleep in both of them! That brought up a lot of jokes though, since two of the people present had recently come out of the closet. Ah, a gay man and a lesbian sharing a sleeping bag on my bedroom floor, and a bisexual girl sleeping in my closet...many laughs were had. Sounds un-PC maybe, but it was the objects of the un-PCness that were doing most of the joking ^_^
Everyone managed to FINALLY arrive at my apartment at 3 am Saturday night...which meant 4 hours of sleep before getting up for 8 hours of skiing on Sunday. Today is painful.
Saw Black Hawk Down this weekend, too. It was basically that final battle scene in Saving Private Ryan extended for two hours. I thought the humor surrounding the deaf guy was rather disturbing, because I kept fearing that he was going to die every time I saw him. It's hard to believe the Somali militia could be THAT ineffective (despite how horrible the incident was advertised to be to the American soldiers, they still had a 50 to 1 kill ratio during the incident), but my ROTC friend explained to me how the Somali soldiers were doing pretty much everything wrong that they possibly could. On the ski slopes, when we had been split into like 6 different groups and were trying futilely to find each other (cell phone signals were dead), I turned to my friend and said, "Now, if all our separate groups were under enemy fire, then it'd be just like Black Hawk Down." It got to the point where we sent out different groups of people to wait at the bottoms of ski slopes and watch everyone that came down just to locate a few people. We met back together every 15 minutes. I stopped skiing at 7 and didn't pull my car out of the parking lot until about 9:30. Sheesh.
Have to remember to call the goddamn insurance company today.
Friday. Please come now, Friday. Please? Or even Thursday. Just not Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. -

I brought the mp3 of my new idea to work today, and I've been listening to it. It gives me chills every time. I seriously think this is the best AMV idea I've EVER had.

Okay, I've had about enough of this crap. This crap meaning my OWN crap. "My Iron Lung" took about 4 months to do. 3 and a half months of procrastinating and then something like 10 days of actual work. "Dreams of Earth" took me 3 days, but I only got it done because my brother desperately wanted it to be shown at AWA. I've finally gotten to the point where I have SOOO many ideas I'm incredibly excited about that my own worth ethic is frustrating me :P I've made myself a promise: 2 more videos completed by Katsu. Not to show at the con, but just to have them done by that date. That's plenty of time if I actually sit down and WORK on them. I've done soooo much procrastinating on all these videos that all of them are nearly completely shaped in my mind now, so I'm past the inspiration hurdle at least...now for the laziness hurdle.
Why this sudden heated desire to work more on videos? Because today I got hit with one big ol' giant BITCH of an idea, and if I don't make it soon I'm going to explode. This new idea...if I can pull it off...<shivers at the thought> My friends are skeptical, but then again, they always are. I've never had an idea that was this...fertile. Sorry, can't think of a better word. It's going to be fucking tough though...I'll have to think less in terms of traditional AMV editing and more in terms of film editing in order to make it look and feel the way I want. But it'll be worth it.
