Vegas weekend - prowling the casino floors as frequently as possible, winning, losing, walking for like a fucking HOUR in the hot desert sun, taking advantage of free cocktails, $32 Bellagio brunch buffet, skimming Caesar's Palace, never sleeping more than 3 hours at a time (and only twice), becoming intensely absorbed at $10 blackjack tables, winning, losing, losing, losing, more free cocktails, discovering that craps is not my game, $40 payoff on a 25 cent video poker game, late-night Circus Circus zoo-like insanity, disbelief that I was in VEGAS and eating MacDonald's for dinner, failed plans to check out a Vegas strip club, and smoking an inordinate number of cigarettes.
That was my vacation in a nutshell.
During down-time in San Diego, I made my friends watch my latest critically panned cinematic obsession, Vanilla Sky. That movie never fails to move me. I recommended it to a fellow AMV d00d, and he was similarly impressed. One friend complained through the ENTIRE thing about how confused she was, then fell asleep RIGHT before the explanation.
Nobody yells "FUCK!" in perfectly timed, comic panic better than Jason Lee.
I've learned now that if you're on a tight travel schedule and are in desperate need of rest, don't count on getting it in the plane. Yesterday consisted of drinking from noon to 8:30 PM, and then hopping on a 10:30 PM flight out of San Diego. I arrived in Baltimore at 9 AM this morning, and came straight to work on no sleep, and a slight hangover. It sucks. Sucks sucks sucks.
3 and a half days til Dallas.

I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times, I'll say it again....Vegas!!
I even packed Ocean's Eleven with me (Paizuri and I will have half a day of nothing to do in San Diego and no car).
Just got back from a Circuit Shitty run to get batteries for my Game Boy Advance. I bought that thing in January, and I STILL haven't changed the batteries on that sucker yet. I've brought it with me on 4 or 5 trips since then, too! Very strange. But anyway...I nearly had a heart attack while driving along Aviation Blvd. this morning. There was a guy standing by the side of the road, and he appeared to be pointing a GUN at me! Then I realized it was a cop. And then I realized it was a RADAR gun. Still, very very unnerving.
If it's not too late, next Tuesday I'm going to sign up for an evening kendo class at the local community college. Or maybe iaido instead. I've never heard of iaido before, but from the course description it seems interesting. It's been a long while since I've learned any martial arts.
Life Extension and "Good Vibrations." Best use of music in a movie EVER. EVER EVER EVER.
I've tasted the sour.
I'm obsessed.
Listening to EK's Dntel mp3 right now. I feel inspired. To do what, I don't know.

I feel like absolute hell.
There are so many fucking things wrong with...everything...that I don't even know where to begin. So I won't bother. Bleh.
At least my DDR video is, for the most part, done. There's just one pesky little clip where the color balance changes for some reason when I adjust the speed of the footage. Normally I wouldn't care, but it happens to be just a segment of the clip that changes speed, so the colors suddenly change in the middle of a clip. I'll probably figure something out tonight.
I've been listening to the first half of Grave Dancer's Union all weekend. Ah, nostalgia.
In anticipation of Vegas, I played Swingers on one computer while I edited on the other (I ALWAYS have something playing in the background when I edit). That movie should just automatically be issued to any guy as soon as he gets dumped. Not that I got dumped, really...it's just VEGAS! Actually, I guess it's only Vegas for like half an hour. I don't think I'd survive if I didn't have these two vacations coming up soon. In these next two weeks I'll only be working 7 days total. I don't even want to think about how I'll be feeling on the evening of June 2.
Argh. I've been thinking too much today.
I hate all these goddamn emails we get about corporate appointments and promotions. "This man who you'll never meet and who will never have any direct impact on your life makes more money than you by an even greater margin now! We'd like all employees to extend their congratulations."
I am so tired today.

DDR video WILL be done by Sunday. I probably could've finished it by today if *life* hadn't happened to me. In exactly one week I'll be in Vegas, baby, Vegas! Or not. Actually, I'm flying with Paizuri to San Diego Thursday night, and then riding up to Vegas with my old Doook friends Jen, Mamie, Linette, and John. So we'll get to Vegas sometime Friday evening. Poor Paizuri, he bought a Game Boy Advance for this very purpose.
Man, I have a TON of DDR VCD requests sitting in my Inbox. I'm glad that there's such demand for it.
Hopefully work will get more interesting soon. I've been assigned to do the principle design work on a video processor board. Rather, I asked to be assigned to it and got it. Not that anything I've done in AMVs will be remotely helpful, but at least it's something I'm somewhat interested in.
I'm starving. I'm going to that crappy Chinese buffet down the street for lunch.
Oh yeah, and I did see Episode II yesterday. People are obnoxious. A bunch of assholes behind me were saying, "Okay, when Jar Jar shows up, we're going to yell 'Jar Jar fucking sucks!' and throw popcorn. It'll be mad awesome, yo!" This, with some 5-year-olds sitting 5 feet away.
Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions trailer -- soooooo cool looking.

Talk about unsettling. I wake up almost every morning with this song haunting my dreams.
