I went back today and read a piece of writing I had been working on about my senior year in college, and actually added a bit to it. I want to get it all down on paper before I lose it. God, what a fucked up year. Getting used to being single again after 4 years, with the horrifying realization that by senior year, most girls are either taken or not interesting in starting a relationship so late...having just discovered alcohol a few months before (yeah, I was really late with that :P)...don't ever start doing vodka shots at 5 am and then attempt to go to thermodynamics class 4 hours later. Watching the med school application deadline roll by without lifting a finger, then deciding on grad school instead, and then watching THAT application deadline roll by as well...then deciding to try finding a job after the main recruiting season had already passed...guh. I must have the most insane luck ever to be where I am now, with a steady job, a girlfriend, and to still find fulfillment in making AMVs. My roommate back in college had a nearly identical job offer as me, but he turned it down so he could get his Master's in a year and increase his marketability...only to come out of it and end up in THIS YEAR'S job market! That's gotta suck.
EK: I'm not worthy ^_^
Hmmm...as much as I like kendo class, I hate how it kills my evening. I get home from work and have maybe an hour and a half to eat dinner and do whatever. Then I have to go to class, and by the time I get home it's time to start showering and getting ready for bed.
I watched "Say Anything" (or is it "...say anything"?) last night. I had always associated that movie with an image of John Cusack holding up a boombox, but had never understood the significance of it. What a great scene. That makes two Cameron Crowe movies with excellent use of Peter Gabriel songs. Maybe it's high time I checked out what all the fuss was about (while I lose all musical credibility with EK for not having done so already ^_^).
Ick. It's past time for me to go squander my lunch hour(s).

Ick, tired of working on video.
Since I spent exactly 0$ on food this weekend, I went to Best Buy determined to buy something for myself.
I ended up old-schooling (kind of) it, with the Diablo II Battle Chest...good deal too, Diablo, Diablo II, Diablo II expansion and a strategy guide.
So I'm sitting here now while Diablo II installs on the other computer. It is REALLY goddamn confusing having two computers in the same desk. Two mice (mouses) and two keyboards all next to each other...just two seconds ago I was typing on the wrong keyboard and causing the Diablo II install program to beep at me like mad.
Argh. Just did it again.
Oh, fuck me! I just accidentally cancelled installation of Diablo II by using the wrong keyboard. Here we go again.
Anyway....
EK: Please tell me that Spiritualized CD has "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space". I adore that song. It's like falling asleep and dreaming in a hot spring.
I saw your post and was about to IM you about it, but I just missed you.

EK: <shuts off mp3 after one verse) You are so not nice for subjecting people to that :Þ My GOD, the singing!
As for that Voltaire song...odd, I wonder if I somehow accidentally got it from you. I don't have my file transfer set on auto-accept, though. Hmmm.
Okay, listen up because these are, bar none, the best lyrics EVER. I've always wanted to do an AMV to it, but it's, you know, IMPOSSIBLE.
She swings the string of pearls on the corner
The street lights reflect the light in the water
The string it snaps and the pearls go sailing
And they splash and bounce and roll 'cross the wet street
As she bends to chase the pearls a car swings 'round the corner
She darts from the eyes of the panic-struck driver
Who's racing to the delivery room
'Cause in the back seat his wife is busting out of her womb
And the sack breaks and out come the Siamese Twins
Who grow up to become the first President
With two heads
Are better than one
He puts his heads in his hands, says I got to put my heads together
I can become the best President ever
And not just President
Fend for yourself
Signs his name, takes the blame for all of the names with no shame
In their beliefs
They adjourn and they leave, and in walks a man
With a broom and a knife and blood on his hands
And he sweeps everything under the rug
And goes home to his kids and gives them a hug
But his wife was not there, she had just left a letter
That said "you'd be much better off without me"
Now his wife took the train to her ex-lover's funeral
Who died in the bathroom, hit his head on a urinal
When they got together, the knowledge was carnal
And the widow was at the funeral, and they had quite a catfight
And they fell into the hole where the casket was resting
And the preacher just left in the middle of the service
'Cause death was one thing, but women made him nervous
And he ran to his car and he drove 'round the corner
Then something in the street caught the light in his eye
He pulled over, reached down, and picked up a pearl from the gutter
And he didn't know what to think
And he brought it home and washed it in the sink
And he gave the pearl to Sister Mary Teresa
Who could not accept it so she gave it to Lisa,
A young prostitute who was missing a pearl
On the necklace that broke late last night
Maybe I'll post an mp3 later today or something.

qiyamat qiyamat a tawil'...qiyamat qiyamat insan al kamel...

So evidently, here's the lowdown on why I haven't had anything to do here at work lately:
Well first off, upper management here and in Chicago have been duking it out over which design approach our department is going to move forward with. Until they decide, there's no point in me working on a design that may be nixed. So my project lead thought it might be a good idea to temporarily transfer me to another department, one that our department works closely with. Communication with that other department is mostly through emails and phone calls, which is really inefficient. The basic idea was for me to go over there for a month or two, and then come back with some vital knowledge that I could then share with the rest of the department. But our manager was afraid that if I went over to that other department, they would never give me back.
And I found out about all this after the fact. So here I am, still sitting here with nothing to do. A pawn in their wicked scheme to bore me to death!!
Hmmm...in AMV news, I did some more capturing last night, and as usual, got more uncertain about the current project. Hopefully I'll be able to work through some of it this weekend and get it cleared up.
Teehee...can't wait to listen to the audio commentary track on my UHF DVD.
Have some Mp3s:

Starts out kind of boring and depressing, then gets good and more depressing.

Good luck.

Okay, what the fuck? I cleaned out my download directory one day, then found this file in it the next day. I have no idea what it is and no idea where I got it, but it's funny. If one of you sent me this, please refresh my memory! I'm going crazy trying to figure out how it ended up in that folder!
Something random:

Gahahahaha! I didn't make this, but the utter simplicity of it cracks me up.
I need to go clothes shopping this weekend ;_; Blegh.
