Whoop Dee Doo

Yeah, lame title. I'm coming back off of a long dry spell, give me some time to get the juices flowing properly.
The rollercoaster ride I've been on for the last two weeks or so has finally ended, and not really in a good way. But at least it's over and I can move on... to the next traumatic adventure.
For the record, there's nothing in the world quite like a really good turkey gravy. To paraphrase a joke in the MST short "A Day At The Fair," I realized that I had not known gravy until Thanksgiving dinner this year. (Okay, lame paraphrasis. See earlier statement regarding juices.)
The last... oh, 10 days or so of work consisted almost entirely of rebuilding PCs for new hires. And I'm not out of the woods yet... three more to complete before week's end! Augh! I hate Windows! Aaaaaauuugh!
We now return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast day.

A smallish man, Afghanistan, a watchdog in a nervous land, we're only there to lend a hand, Short Memory...

I should have posted sooner, but the Oils show kicked 100% ass. Dreamworld. King Of The Mountain. Bus To Bondi. Short Memory. Beds Are Burning. Dead Heart. Bullroarer. Sometimes. Blue Sky Mine. Read About It. Truganini. Almost a half-dozen new songs, from The Real Thing and the upcoming Capricorn albums.
They came out, jumped into Redneck Wonderland and just never ever stopped rocking. No slow songs, no change of pace, just full-on balls to the wall rock music. Being the final show in the North American tour, they obliged the audience by playing almost a full half hour longer than their usual 90 minute set for this tour.
I have finally seen the Oils play live. I have sung along to The Dead Heart along with hundreds of other deliriously happy fans. I have seen Peter Garrett scream and prance and flail about.
Fantastic. Wonderful. I'm a happy man.

Midnight Oil. Tomorrow night, Roseland theater. Be there, dammit.

I love this band, and until now I've never had the means and the opportunity to see them perform live. After tomorrow night, I'll have no more bands left on the "must see before I die" list.
Hmm. Not that I plan on dying any time soon, mind you. Life is far too interesting!
I've had my Oils MP3/Ogg directory playing in a randomized loop in XMMS all day. I'm prepared. "White skin black heart..."

Strange days indeed
2001-11-15 20:27:56
This is weird. I can't talk about what's happened the last couple of days. I want to, but I can't. It's good, it's scary, it's probably a violation of any number of commonly-held rules of morality. Oh well.
That's it. No other news, just the thing I can't talk about. Maybe tonight I'll work on levelling up my Javazon in D2X so I have something else on my mind. Whatever...

You keep creatures in these things and only take them out for fights? That's sick!

Okay, the title is a paraphrasing of the line from ReBoot from the other day. So what? It was damned funny, and someone else saw fit to use the "Bobzilla" line so... so there. Nyah.
I thought the whole Pokemon riff element of that episode was funny as all hell. My son the Poke-fan wasn't amused, however. And here I thought he had a good sense of humor. I clearly need to train him some more. =)
So knghtbrd and I are both Oregonians. Who'd have thunk it? It's a small world after all. Then again, when you don't drive the world is larger than some might think. Such is life.
Yes, I'm rambling. It's just after 4pm and the important stuff I just don't want to deal with right now. I put away Ender's Game last night, it's an interesting read. I'm just curious enough about "what happens next" to pick up Speaker For The Dead when I see it.
Oh, and my Clvl 37 Barbarian managed, barely, to kick Baal's ass. I've never worked so hard to kill anything in my entire Diablo-playing career. It wasn't Baal himself that's the PITA, it's his fewking minions. Grr. I thought it would be easy, given how sweetly my Golemancer totally romped through the Worldstone Keep, the Throne Room and Baal himself. Note to self, melee fighting is hard work.
Maybe next time I'll talk about the important stuff. But don't hold your breath, mmmkay?
