JOURNAL: GreyDuck (Karel Kerezman)

  • Fresh pain awaits 2002-01-03 19:10:02 Alright, dammit. I have to do this. I wasn't going to. I figured that three journal entries in one day was more than enough for you tortured people.

    http://www.ohthehumanity.com/review.php3?ID=411

I'm not telling you what it is. I will tell you, however, that I laughed hard enough to cry, and I don't do that very often. To quote a Slashdot poster, "After seeing [this], I understood why Harrison Ford can't watch himself in Star Wars."

We now return you to your regularly scheduled media circus.
  • Cowboy Bebop, Adult Swim, etc. 2002-01-03 16:28:35 Well, okay, this is an entry INSPIRED BY another journal entry elsewhere in the system rather than an actual reply.

Sunday night I stayed up late-late because I noticed that Bebop was airing. I have not, to date, seen anything other than the two episodes aired that midnight. (Side note: Why does an all-animation channel have those goofy pool-based bumbers? There's something wrong here, and I can't even articulate it properly. I suppose it's better than Yet Another Appearance By Dexter And/Or The PPG.)

Near as I can tell, if I get the chance to watch Cowboy Bebop "properly" I'll enjoy it a great deal. I liked the two eps I've seen, those being "Surfing with Edward" IIRC and the one following about Jet's ex-girlfriend. So how long do I have to wait before the episodes cycle through and I can start from #1? =)

Two eps is not enough of a window into CB to say if it lives up to the fan-hype, but it certainly looks enjoyable. (The chick annoys me a bit, but I've already admitted to not knowing the whole story or any of the backstory. Let's see... dresses like a slut, hates men. Golly, we haven't seen that before.) If I'm able to stay up late enough, and I don't have papa-in-law dozing on my couch whining about being forced to endure more damned cartoons, I'll watch more Bebop and see what happens.
  • Hellfire and damnation 2002-01-03 16:05:59 Damn you, McWagner. Now I'm actually going to have to watch my taped copy of Hobgoblins just to confirm that it is such an excruciating pile of dung. (What, not Boggy Creek II? Or Squirm?) Damn you all to hell. ;-)

You want the best/worst part? My friend loaned me his Rhino-purchased Manos, so I can watch them BACK TO BACK if I so choose!

Well, that's it then. I've gone starkers. This proves it.
  • MST3K and FotR 2002-01-03 16:00:09 Shaister, all I gotta say is this:

Find a copy of the script, then hit the dibs list at Website Number 9. =)

*pondering good MSTing material, having seen FotR three times now...*
  • Shaister: Mike Nelson Theater 3000 2001-12-30 14:04:59 The whole Joel v. Mike debate among MST fans is kind of silly. They are both fun to watch, and when you get right down to it, Mike wrote a lot of Joel's material. (Who was head writer, again?)

Thanks for reminding me of one of my all-time faves, Prince of Space. (Which, if I remember correctly, is the one where during the climactic aerial combat sequence at movie's end the bots are pleading for death.)

Pearl had her moments, but yes, nobody will ever compete with Clayton Forrester. "I'm a naughty boy, naughty naughty naughty!" "Who... who will I kill?" "Push the button, Frank!"

And dammit, Jack Frost IS the best Russo-Finnish production ever MSTied. The Day The Earth Froze and Sword And The Serpent aren't nearly as funny. (This paragraph dedicated to my friend Ben Studtmann, who probably will never read this journal. *shrug*)

In other news, my enforced vacation continues even though I've got a nasty head cold I just can't shake. Why the hell are my vacations always damned? Ah well.
