JOURNAL: GreyDuck (Karel Kerezman)

  • Kudos, artists! 2002-01-11 12:45:51 I'd like to add my kudos to those of nailz. There are some kick-ass new logo designs so far! (All the on-white-background logos are "worthy" IMHO.)

Damn, I wish I had real artistic talent. ;)
  • Duh. 2002-01-10 14:46:23 You know, if I acquired half a brain I'd become a half-wit.

ErMaC's Guide to All Things Video does, yes, contain a new-and-improved set of "how to work more-or-less directly with VOB files" instructions tailor-made for the Premiere-6/Win2K rig I've got at home, oddly enough.

Printing now... then I'll go download some stuff... Whoopee!
  • Editing directly from the VOBs? 2002-01-10 14:39:10 Adiamante: "I love editing from vob's it takes up so much less time then converting to HuffYUV does. Plus quality is 150 times better on the final output."

...the hell? If I knew how to work directly from the VOB files, I'd be ALL over that! Part of the terror I feel at the notion of adding more material to my Iria vid is that I'm going to have to go "back" to the source and re-rip/convert everything. Bleah.

Time to fire up Google and see what I can find, apparently.
  • Screwdriver Monkey, at your service. 2002-01-09 19:39:45 Today I got to discombobulate a number of PCs around the building, which (for some stupid reason) I actually enjoy doing. I like it so much, in fact, that I'm going to go home and do the same to my server... open it up, slap in some more RAM, a faster video card and a working CD-R unit.

Oh, and don't ever buy an Acer CD-RW drive. Ever, I say.

My shoulder's still shooting fun little shocks of pain down my arm, which makes doing my job a thrill-a-minute laugh ride. Ah well, it could be a lot worse. It's still a good day, dammit. =)

Department head meeting today, the first in several weeks. Love those holidays! Anyway, apparently our stock is among the highest-valued for all broadcasting companies right now. (Hmm, I wonder how they're skewing the numbers to come to that conclusion.) Doesn't mean that we're not going to cut back more staff, of course. Downsizing, baby, downsizing. Oh, sorry, that's the old buzzword. Now it's called "cost containment." Feh. It's times like this where I'm both happy and sickened that my job is ironclad: I'm the only computer techie in the entire building.

Oregon has the highest unemployment in the nation right now, apparently. *shudder* Sucks to be an Oregonian in the IS/IT industry... or, more accurately, not currently in the industry.
  • We're not worthy! We're not worthy! Wait, yes we are! 2002-01-08 19:34:18 Wow. Two worthy banners... not just that, but VERY worthy!

What a nice change of pace!
