Warcraft 3 end thoughts...
2002-08-09 03:06:25
I just finished Warcraft 3 and now I have 2nd thoughts about it.... It left a very good first impression on me but as I went through the game, I started feeling that it wasn't as great as Warcraft 2. Here are the reasons...
Warcraft 2 had a much simpler storyline that was easier to understand. Warcraft 3 borrows alot of the dark elements of Starcraft's story and makes it a bit more complicated. A few of your favorite heroes from 2 meet unexpected fates.
With the graphics being better in 3, many limitations had to be added. In Warcraft 2, your food limit was 200, but now in Warcraft 3, it's been reduced to 90! I also find the new upkeep system VERY irritating. Another bad thing was that sea units were removed! One thing I loved about Warcraft 2 was the ability to make land, sea, and air units. Warcraft 3 now only focuses on land and air units. The upkeep and food limit really fuck you over when you need to make reinforcements if your main force is killed.
Warcraft 2 was very well known for it's funny speech stuff but Warcraft 3's speech isn't even funny at all. A big disappointment....
Warcraft 3 is a great game but I personally think Warcraft 2 is better.

Comic con thoughts.
2002-08-04 20:29:57
Just got back from Comic con. It was fun but I didn't like it as much as Anime Expo for some reason. Parking and registration were absolutely terrible, not to mention parking was about as expensive as registration... Had a fun time hanging out with Chris Sabat and Meredith McCoy from FUNimation and I finally got Yu Yu Hakusho OST 1 for future amv projects. I went to a cool panel with the voice actors of Brain from Pinky and the Brain, Gary Owens who does announcer like voices (I swear he still sounds like an announcer in his natural voice) and a few more looney tunes guys. The drive there was absoulutely terrible since I was stuck in traffic for 5 hours and the trip back was 3 with little traffic.
I might go again next year just to hang out with my friends and the guys from FUNimation but nothing else really stood out for me. Saw alot of dealers from AX there too.
Most important thing I've learned?
Comic fans can be more anal than anime fans... especially in line..

2002-08-02 16:20:57
I'm leaving for Comic con right now and will be gone for 2-3 days. Hopefully the 2 friends I'm picking up will keep my sanity the whole 2 hour trip....
See you later!

My big TV debut!
2002-08-01 00:50:29
I just got back from American Idol and it was actually pretty fun...
My sister and I got to CBS studio around 2:30pm and were told that we weren't allowed to park until 4:30pm so I drive into the MOST NARROW road in existence and park near a few houses. My sister and I are around the 88th-89th people in line so we're sure we could get good seats for sure.
I've never seen so many teenyboppers in my life.... After 2 long hours of waiting in the hot sun, we see Simon driving a cool convertible with 2 chicks inside as rabid fangirls start running after him. Later we see Paula Abdul's car being chased by more rabid fanboys and girls (My sister included). Wayne Brady from "Who's line is it anyway" also drives in and the line went wild whenever he opened his window and waved. An hour after that, we're finally let in to line up for seating. Then we have to wait another 2 hours for the people with VIP tickets to line up we finally get seated.......
We walk in and notice the entire American Idol stage IS SO SMALL. It looked so huge on TV but it's actually really small. The place is only packed with 300 or less people. My sister and I got seats on the right side in probably one of the most crammed stages ever... absolutely NO leg room.... ugh.... We see alot of funny stuff going on like the contestant's moms all dancing with the tech staff while music is playing and we hear a voice "15 minutes till air time" and one of the producers comes and introduces the hosts- Ryan and Brian, the judges- Randy, Paula Abdul, and Simon (THE MAN), and finally the 6 contestants. We have a 10 second countdown then.... we were on air live for the east coast.
The show goes pretty smoothly but the cheering is way too loud and I feel that I can barely hear out of my right ear. People are holding up various signs saying "WE LOVE (insert contestant here)", "SIMON SUCKS/RULES", and "CAN I HAVE (insert male contestant here)'s BABIES?". It's funny how each segment only lasts around 5 minutes and then it;s commerical break. We see all the people on the show drinking water and people applying makeup to them. The show goes on once more and the hottest female contestant gets voted off the show.... damn... After she bursts into tears and recieves comfort from the other contestants, she goes on to sing one last time and the show is over. I try to get Simon's autograph but security already blocks me off and I see Simon going backstage. My sister and I walk out of the studio and headed home.
If you watched American Idol, then you can occasionally see the back of me and my sister's heads from top view for a few seconds. I really don't have the biggest interest in this show other than seeing Simon bashing people but it was alot of fun.
