  • Enron Creditors Sue Ex-Chairman Lay 2003-02-03 19:47:49 WASHINGTON - Creditors of Enron Corp. have sued former Enron chairman and chief executive Kenneth Lay and his wife Linda in an effort to recover more than $70 million in transfers, according to court papers obtained Monday.

The committee representing unsecured creditors in Enron's Chapter 11 case filed the suit late Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan.

According to the suit, during the year before Enron's Chapter 11 filing, Lay allegedly used Enron common stock to repay loans he had received from the company. The committee says "the tendering of Enron's own stock to repay loans taken in cash was not a fair exchange for Enron."

Enron's stock traded at 4 cents a share on the first trading day after its bankruptcy filing, compared with more than $65 a share about a year earlier.

The committee alleged that former chairman Lay received information throughout 2001 that indicated Enron was in "dire financial condition."

Despite this knowledge, the committee said Lay used company common stock to repay more than $94 million in cash loans from May 3, 1999, through Nov. 27, 2001. More than $74 million of the repayments occurred within the year before Enron's bankruptcy filing in December 2001.

    Lay resigned in January 2002.

Also late Friday, Houston-based Enron and some of its affiliates filed seven lawsuits in their Chapter 11 cases, seeking to collect more than $200 million.

One suit seeking $116 million was filed against Public Utility District No. 1 of Snohomish County in Washington, which had agreed to acquire wholesale power at a certain price from an Enron unit.

  • 'Spirited Away' Tops U.S. Flicks at Animation Awards 2003-02-03 19:45:10 Spirited Away, Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki's critically acclaimed film that received limited distribution and promotion when it was released domestically by Disney last year, was the big winner at the 30th annual Annie Awards Saturday night. The film won animation awards for best feature, direction, writing and music. It competed with a formidable array of American animated features, including Disney's own Lilo & Stitch, as well as Pixar's Monsters, Inc., DreamWorks' Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, and Fox's Ice Age. Spirited Away broke box-office records in Japan last year.
  • Thanks, Misty! 2003-02-03 03:30:18 Of all the people who have e-mailed me their support, I have to thank Misty, because her posts have just done a lot to help lift my spirits against the endless assault of the mindless and hate-filled swine who have been pestering me on the board.

    Thank you very much!

and I once again thank everyone who has been so kind and offered words of friendship! They all have been appretiated.

It just gives me that much more strength of heart when dealing with the vermin who infest the boards and only detract from the site, rather than add.

  • Chicago 2003-02-03 03:20:52 My friends and I went to see the movie Chicago. I was worried that Hollywood was going to massacre another musical. They haven't adapted musicals to the screen well in ages.

However, I had some hope, because I knew Chicago was an acclaimed musical as it was... and the moviemakers knew how to do this one right. I was very pleased with the results.

I am waiting to see what fun awaits me at my future convention appearances. OhayoCon was such a blast (and I still think it's hillarious that someone had me sign their forehead!)

I am hoping I will get a chance to audition for a series that I have been quite fond of... it's finally coming to the US... but I shall say no more on that topic.

The swine that fester the forums continue to make the whole site an unpleasant place to visit, but I am now working on my newest AMV and I have to pester my friend to get my other AMVs up on to his website.
  • God Damn It 2003-02-02 06:38:46 I tell you...

I saw the tragedy of the Columbia... and I had to do my radio show... I dedicated the whole show to the men and women who dedicated their lives to space travel.

I was concerned that what with NASA not being a major concern of many presidents, that the disaster could have been caused by wear and tear of the old shuttles, with no new ones being manufactured to help lower the stress on the older ships.

(And I think NASA puts the safety of their Astronauts at TOP PRIORITY, but even if you take AMAZINGLY good care of a vehicle, it can't run perfectly forever)

Anyway... I saw a thread about the Columbia and I wanted to extend my own words of sorrow and concern... only to find that the same little gaggle of assholes once again decided to start badgering me.

    This was unacceptable.

I mean... this was a thread for the men and women who lost their lives in this disaster...

and these fuckers need to continue their bellyaching about how they don't like my views! THE DUMB ASSES DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT MY VIEWS ARE!

The proof is all in reading their posts (past and present)

I am not even going to discuss that further. I know what my views are... they don't... they just assume based on their own little viewpoints...

Here's a simple example of what I'm talking about:

Some people think that I bash on anyone who doesn't like Evangelion.

If anyone read my posts, they would know this is not true.

There are people who have said some very stupid things in connection about Evangelion, and I go after them because I have the proof that their view is completely wrong and I can back it up with reasoning! Because of the verbose nature of my posts and because I speak with confidence, people start making wild assumptions about me...

They try to argue that my points are invalid because I made a typo.

They try to argue that my points are invalid because I am elitist

They try to argue that my points are invalid because they didn't like or didn't understand the show (or both)

BUT NEVER have I told someone that they HAD to like the show.

I HAVE told people that the show has meaning, that it has reasons for doing certain things it does and that it has a message that was important to me...

I HAVE defended the show and I will continue to do so.

AND because I was tired of EVA bashers who were getting in the way of EVERY topic that dealt with EVA (you know... people who liked EVA trying to talk with other people who liked EVA in hopes they could have at least ONE place where they could have a discussion without the seething hordes of EVA haters getting on their backs)

I started offering that people could e-mail me... but that just brought out more wrath from these assholes...

    Milo is elitist
    Milo is a snob
    Milo is stuck up
    Milo's got an ego.

Well... compared to some of the people who complain about me... after reading their posts, it sure strengthens my ego. It certainly makes me feel elite.

They think I'll go away if they scream loud enough and often enough.

    Well... they're wrong.

    They don't know shit
    They aren't worth shit

And just to make it clear...
I'm only on these boards some of the time...
I don't scour Journals looking for hostile posts (and I usually only learn about those when someone e-mails me about it)
I don't seek out fights or look for slandering messages against me... so I'm sure I miss a LOT of them

I will certainly speak my mind when I come across the stupidity of these people...

I seldom waste time in discussion, because these people aren't the discussing type... their just the feeding frenzy of the insecure, the ignorant, the immature and the bored.

They bite at me with their rotted teeth hoping to do me harm, but the worst they do is annoy the shit out of me (and man do they ever)

    Oh look...

I've been verbose again... how unsympathetic I'm being to people who can't read more than one or two sentences...
