  • Why so many Journal Entries? 2002-04-06 03:36:45 I don't know...

    I did want to mention one idea I had that I will probably never do... but I thought it was a funny idea... so I will mention it here in my journal.

    I'm sure many here have seen Kevin Caldwell's ENGEL AMV using footage of Asuka from Evangelion...


    I wanted to do an AMV called "Tribute to Kevin Caldwell" and use ENGEL as well... but instead of having Asuka, I'd use Noel from I'LL BE AN ANGEL.

    Then I could try to match cuts to the best of my ability to match exactly the kind of footage Kevin used, trying to find scenes that were close to the EVA scenes...

    I think it would be funny... and a nice tribute to a person who I think makes the most amazing AMVs I have ever seen.

    The "Akane Tendo has a Little Bit of a Temper" has been downloaded 100 times!! Making it the 3rd most downloaded video of my 8, but is getting DLed faster than any other AMV I've posted.

    That's really cool!

    True... there's not 1 review on it... but hey...
    my first AMV has been there since I got here and it never got a review either.

  • Anti-Depressant 2002-04-06 03:27:29 End of April will be my Anti-Depressant! I'm going to Fanime and I'm looking forward to it now more than ever. I'll be in the AMV contest... I'm a guest for the Voice Actor's panel as well as the AMV panel (much to my own surprise on that one) and it sounds like I might be a judge for the costume contest.

    All this and I get to be as far the hell away from my crappy job for a couple of days. I will be surrounded by anime people... fans, members of the industry and the dealers...

    I pause... do you know that the dealer's room was also referred to as the Huckster's Gallery at some cons? I never hear that term used anymore.

    Looking forward to that weekend like no other thing I have looked forward to! It makes me happy just thinking about it... and I need all the happiness I can find!

  • I'm so tired 2002-04-05 03:40:21 I still haven't done any work on my video.

    My hours at work are taking their toll. It's been since Oct. 1 that I started working graveyard...

    I am always tired... and frustrated...
    and easily angry...or upset.

    I move from CA in August.

    I hope I can make it to August.

    Will try to work on AMV... but I just don't have the patience for it right now...

    I DID do the NieA vids... so I'm sure I'll have a good mood day and get some real work done on this thing.

  • The Anime world is never getting anywhere. 2002-04-04 02:56:28 It just breaks my heart to say this... but anime fandom is doomed.

    Why?

    Anime fans in the US is a small niche in American culture. Compared to the majority of the US population, anime fans are looked down upon

    We are looked on as just another group as bad as the Trekkies by most people. Non-Anime fans hear about anime, they will think of Pokemon... or they'll say "animation is for kids"


    Now... with such a small group (in a relative sense)
    this board is so full of hatred!

    People complaing about how this dub sucks... or that people who don't like dubs are stupid... or that companies that bring over anime suck... or that people who promote animation other than anime suck

    and suck this
    and they suck that
    and suck and suck and suck and suck


    If the anime community can't show a little tolerance toward one another and respect one another as adults... why should be treated as anything other than a stupid bunch of kids?

    People can like what they want... dubs... subs... this title... that title... but can't you show anyone else ANY respect?

    Are you so used to getting kicked down by others you have to kick in every direction for the rest of your life?

    Now... I hate DBZ. I think its an awful show. What do I do? I don't watch it. If there is a discussion group about DBZ, I don't go near it... because I have no business going there and saying how much I think it sucks in a group of people who like the show. They have as much right to like the show as I have to think it sucks.

    But people don't want to live and let live

    They want to piss and ache and moan and whine and scream.


    I get enough shit from my day to day life.

    I am everything that is to be made fun of by "normal people"
    I'm overweight, I like science fiction, I like Japanese animation, I like to use my brain, I like to imagine, I like music from various nations, I like movies from various nations, I like music that isn't on the TOP 40 and never will be. I don't care about fashion. I don't try to fit in.
    I make Anime Music Videos... I am an English Voice Actor for anime titles even though I don't buy dubs. I am writing a Journal entry because I think people might read it.

    I am an outsider in the "normal" world... and when I try to hang out where other anime fans are... I feel as much an outsider in this place as I am everywhere else. I have to deal with shit all day only to find people screaming at each other over the dumbest shit imaginable.


    Anyway... I doubt anyone cares... and that the people who do already know what I'm talking about.

    It's pretty hopeless...

    I will continue to like what I like and do what I do... but I certainly don't feel like an anime fan... I wouldn't want to be called an anime fan because I am too embarassed by the term. Especially with what I have seen on the boards here and elsewhere.

    I love anime and its a shame that the "fans" would work so hard to do in what I love.

    Whatever...
