JOURNAL: IratusAngelus (Eric Morse)

  • Hooha! 2003-01-13 13:43:45 It's been awhile since I've last made a journal entry, and in that time my life has changed significantly. I now sleep on a futon in a basement that isn't my own. I have a little corner to call my "room," other than that, the basement is the whole family's space. I don't have a car, so I ride the bus over three hours a day to and from work. I'm still looking for a second job, just so I can start making lots of money, and I'm thinking about moving to Vegas come August or September (if any of you live anywhere near Vegas, drop me a line with some ideas about where I should look for work and an apartment or condo). My New Year's resolution is to drop a lot of weight by the end of next summer, so I'm putting myself on a diet. Trying to save as much money as possible is a help, too, because it means less cash to spend on food. There is a gym here at work I'd love to use more often, so I think I'm going to start running on a treadmill over my lunch break. Hopefully I won't smell too bad when I come back. ^_^

I recently finished all four of the Harry Potter books, and I can say I'm caught up in the mania (albeit several years late). Now I want book five to come out! Everything was getting so exciting, too. It's supremely annoying. The same thing happened to me with A Song of Ice and Fire, which is an amazing series. I have a feeling it will happen to me again with the imminent release of the new Wheel of Time book, Crossroads of Twilight. I think that comes out this month. Maybe I should just stop reading so damn much. Naaaaa. Now I'm caught up in Stephen King's Dreamcatcher, which is very cool. A woman at work is letting me borrow another recent King book, Everything's Eventual. I get so much time to read on the bus to and from work that I'll probably finish both of these within the next week. *sigh* I need more money!!!

I think for my second job I'm going to work as a banquet server. My brother works at this country club, and he gets paid 12 dollars an hour to be a half-assed waiter. I think it sounds like an okay deal. I need some other job, no matter what it is. Actually, I shouldn't say that. I don't think I could stomach working at a fast food place. I know many people do, and I'm okay with that, I just think I would get too disgusted to ever eat at a place like that again, and that could end up being a problem. Well, maybe not while I'm on this new diet, but for road trips and such, when everyone else is eating at Arby's or something, and I have nothing. ^_^ I'm such a pessimist. Oh well, it's back to work for me. Time to mail out warranties to customers. Huzzah.
  • LOTR 2002-12-19 11:29:44 I saw The Two Towers last night, and I have to say I loved it, and I would recommend it to anyone who has seen the first one, or enjoyed the series. However, if you're looking for an accurately portrayed version of the book, look somewhere else. One of my friends was clenching his fists and cursing during much of the movie, because he was angered at how it differentiated from Tolkien's work. Some of the differences were neccessary, obviously, because of length and stuff like that, but other times they seemed to make no sense.
It is definitely an incredible movie, though. The action sequences were breathtaking, and the cinematogrophy was excellent. Peter Jackson is really one for the big panning camera shots. I liked the acting more this time around, too. The characters seemed a bit more realistic to me, even in the midst of completely unrealistic battle (I'm basing that on reality, not Middle-earth).
These movies really make me want to visit New Zealand. It's like the most beautiful place on Earth!
Of course, now I have to wait another year for Return of the King. What a crock. u_u
  • grrrr 2002-12-16 20:31:39 Dammit. I tried to act all knowledgable and cool with that BBCode stuff in my last post, but it doesn't work. So basically I just end up looking like an idiot. Oh well, forget it ever happened, please ^_^
  • *yawn* 2002-12-16 20:30:27 Yay! I have a ticket for The Two Towers on Wednesday night, provided so kindly by [url=http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_myprofile.php?user_id=11053]Vazor[/url]. I've been waiting for a year for this movie, same as everyone else, and from what I hear it's excellent. I will probably piss my pants when it starts. Then my brain will explode.
Everything is set up with my birthmom. We discussed rent, rules, concerns, and living arrangements on the phone yesterday. Moving day is the 1st.
I get to go to UPS tonight for a meeting and tour. It's at 10:30, so I don't know what kind of weirdos will be there ^_^
  • -_- 2002-12-14 19:51:52 Absolutely nothing interesting happened today. I finished Outlaw Star (again), and got a haircut. I also played DBZ: Budokai, and while it's a fun game for a while, the style gets stale really fast. I'm more a fan of GGX-style games, the blazing fast 2D fighters. I never really got into Soul Caliber or Tekken or anything 3D games like that. I did enjoy the DOA games, though, but only because the tag-team was so very, very fun (not because of the character design. Honest). I'm borrowing some anime series from Vazor for a while, so I think I'm going to go start Cowboy Bebop now. I actually never watched it on Adult Swim. Everyone tells me what I've been missing, so I'm going to go enjoy myself. Ta! ^_^
