JOURNAL: LeahNari (call me Lee-san )

  • yawn 2005-06-16 00:18:12 I think I'm going to change my profile picture soon. After I leave some opinions. And study for finals. And maybe do some other shit. Stay tuned.
  • I have a mild headache... 2005-06-14 17:33:04 Just watched FMA ep 26 for the first time in a few months. Fun stuff. Now my head hurts, because I'm really thirsty. And I need to work more on my math.
*answers phone, gets drink. Remembers scout meeting at 7*
    Now my head really hurts.
In my last entry, I think I got sidetracked about the finals. Just to add:
English: pygmalion test, essay, poetry analysis
    French: 200 questions scantron
    Geometry: no idea.

Hoooh boy. Wish me luck. Especially at finishing two monster reviews tonight.
I know there was something else I wanted to add to this... fcuk it.
  • deer caught in headlights 2005-06-13 17:46:04 Final Exams are here. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! *flees in terror*
They come up next week, but preparing for them is intimidating. This is what I know about them, as of now:
    1. English - one part scantron, mostly on Pygmalion (I think), another part essay, and the third part poetry analysis. I'm resigned to my fate, whatever it may be.
    2. History - scantron ~200 questions. I am god in that class, but apparently there aren't many A's annually, so I'd better crack the book to be safe. ^_^;
    3. Choir. We've got a concert this friday. My guess is we'll spend class watching Toy Story or something. If we could bring in Fruits Basket, that'd be cool.
    4. Chemistry - mostly, if not all, scantron. 100 questions, and the sub is trying to spoon-feed us the review. This'll be fine, I'm sure.
    5. PE - We're going bowling. Oh my effing god, what is the point?? Oh well...
    6. Geometry - *hysterical laughter* ... I think I'll be fine. Just need to review some stuff.
    7. French III. Give me strength. Just in case.

BTW, my title here is a reference to an article I read on www.theforeigner-japan.com: "So You Want to Learn Japanese." It's the name for one of the three classifications of gaijin students taking Japanese.

_The Deer Caught In Headlights are those students who took Japanese because either a.) they thought it sounded like fun, b.) they thought it would be easy, or c.) they just need a couple more credits to graduate. These students wear a mask of terror and panic from the moment they walk into class till the moment they leave, because all they can hear inside their head is the high pitched scream their future is making as it is flushed down the toilet. They are usually failing._

Link to the article is http://www.theforeigner-japan.com/archives/200404/japanese.htm Laugh-your-ass-off funny! Enjoy it!
And I think that is all for now. I worry a little about what is to become of my AMV project in the near future. O_O I won't give up!! HAH!
  • my tooth, among other things, is driving me nuts 2005-06-08 22:17:05 My lower left wisdom tooth is coming in, and feels really weird. I feel like there's food caught in it, but not. AGH.
Found out that editing sucks up *mucho* disc space. AGH.
Pinnacle Studios is allergic to the Huffyuv compressor. AGH.
Funimation did some weird shit with its dvd by interweaving the english and japanese openings and endings, and the footage before and after each. So VirtualDub plays a three-second sequence, then bounces to the same three-second sequence and continues to the next, then plays that next again, so I can't get a whole scene in one shot. AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!
Don't know where to start with my amv. AGH.
My first real attempt is frustrating so far. (can you tell?) AGH.
But I swear! Little Sister will have genesis! AAHHH!!!!!!

As I promised in my last entry, I shall translate Star Vicino (literal word-by-word, according to the book):

To be near to the beautiful idol that one loves
is the most attractive joy of love.
Is the most attractive joy of love.
To be far from the beloved whom one desires
is of love the most vital sorrow.
Is of love the most vital sorrow.

Nice. I wonder if it would ever work with an AMV. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to contact me. amv@efr.mailshell.com
It's too late to go hammer on Pinnacle. See you in the morning. Maybe.
  • Ooh! 2005-06-03 17:38:20 One more hit and I have 333. Cule.
This is a random entry, so bear with me. Just finished my english assignment. I'm starving... Oh yeah, also finished my voice lesson a little while ago. I like how it's going. Lessee, I'm singing "It Must Be Me" from Candide, Nice Work If You Can Get It (great song ^_^), and Star Vicino ("To Be Near One's Love" I think).
Lyrics, as best as I can rendor them:

Star vicino al bell'idol che s'ama
E il piu vago diletto d'amor.
    E il piu va----go diletto d'amor.
Star lontano dal ben che si brama,
E d'amore il piu vivo dolor.
    E d'amo-----re, E d'amore il piu vivo dolor.
E d'amore il piu vivo dolor.

Short but lovely song. If anyone's interested, I'll put down the english translation next journal. It'd be cool to see if anyone understood it here. ^_^
    JIC: email is amv@efr.mailshell.com

Melissa is playing. Must laugh as I remember the "Don't Do Drugs" AMV.
