About 2 minutes in...
2004-02-07 12:46:24
yes! I'm halfway there! There's still one part where the timing is slighlty off, but I'll fix that later. Jeez! I think I've got it and I watch it again and the timing is off. My computer lags sometimes when palying Huffyuv avis, which doesn't help.
Sometimes when editing I get in this mindset in which I can't tell a good video from a bad one, except where timing is concerned. It's bad!
Also, I just got more braces and my teeth hurt and it's almost 11AM and I haven't had much breakfast.
I watched the last three episodes of Lodoss and I watched Excel Saga episode 10 (the animal episode) on free video on demand.
I tried to look at my video as though it WASN'T my video, and didn't have much luck. I tend to be critical of my own work more than other people's work.

Not much editing here!

Anyway, I edited a few seconds of video, and watched the whole thing AGAIN. It's a major part of the process. Anyway, I realized that it's not as terrible as I once assumed, but it's not outstanding either. Ah well, it's just my second vid, no one will be surprised if it's not great. But I want it to be great! T_T
I also discovered another way to be fades in movie maker. Not that exciting, but...
I've been watching Record of Lodoss War, and Spark and Neese are almost criminally cute together. Warm fuzzies! ^^

Whoops, my mistake!

The footage I'm using IS NOT PAL. It's NTSC with the PAL framerate. Very odd.
Also, I watched several episodes of Lodoss in Japanese, with English subtitles, and the puns (explained in the subtitles) in Welcome to Lodoss Island are just terrible. Only thing worse is Rocky and Bulwinkle. Don't get me wrong, I like both shows. BTW, the first place I saw Lodoss was in the tiny Realplayer windows on cartoonnetwork.com. It was English dubbed, and I used to say, half jokingly, "Welcome to Lodoss Island! And now what you've all been waiting for, the sucky part!"

Yup, japanese title.
Didn't edit any today, but I recieved Record of Lodoss War TV in the mail today, faster than expected. Rightstuf is uber-cool.
Uber=ultra or something like that. Picked it up when I was playing Everquest a few years ago. Which is when I first heard of Princess Mononoke, by the way. Which caused me to get into anime.

Same same

So I'm up to 1:32 minutes now, though there's still one earlier part I'm not completely satisfied with. The timing is slightly off T_T.
I just realized, the footage I've been using is PAL, 25 frames per second, so I've been IVT-ing it wrong! That's okay, the old stuff still looks fine, but now I'm doing it right and it looks slightly better in the end. The only reason I do it in the first place is because I find that interlaced avis look pretty bad at times. so now i have three framerates in my vid. I hope it'll be okay. See, I somehow managed to get virtualdub to turn one of my avis into NTSC, almost thirty frames per second. Weird, yes?
Anyway, I think that's all for this weekend. I'm getting a little tired of fiddling around with it and listening to the song over and over. I have a piece of advice for all you who haven't made AMV's yet: pick a song which you like pretty well, otherwise you'll be sick of it by the time you're done, unless you do your editing in small chunks.
And another thing: read the guides! Both Phade's guide and ErMaC's guide, because they contain oodles of usefull information. I refer to them often, but especially ErMaC (andAbsoluteDestiny)'s guide.
Also, if you want to talk, feel free to email me. Unless, of course, you're some kind of mad stalker person. LOL
