Saturday at Fanime
2004-05-30 12:03:15
I went to Fanime yesterday and here's what happened:
I got there, and was directed to the non-existant pre-reg line ^^; while the at-con registration line was about an hour long or so it appeared.
I had extra time so I went and watched Air Master, which I'd never seen before, but it was awesome. Lots of great action and comedy. ^_^
Then I went to the AMV finalists showing. About half of the videos were excellant, and the other were well-edited at least, so it was a really hard descision. I don't know who won, because it was announced at Der Cosplay, which I didn't go to. *checks fanime forums* I agreed with most of the winners except drama! If I didn't like the one the viewers picked, I liked the one the judges picked. The results are here:

just scroll down
All of the videos got clapping and yells, and all of the comedy videos got at least one laugh.
Later I ate my lunch that I'd packed (egg salad sandwich). Then I went into the dealers room and bought:
Chobits Playing cards
Cowboy Bebop OST 1
a Xenosaga pencil board with a shojo ai look
a Teaclub (Haneko) shirt with the words "kick ass" on it (it fits exactly 'cuz it's a baby tee)
and later on in artist's row I bought a print of a really good fanart of a bunch of CLAMP characters
I saw some Fruits Basket (just part of one epsiode) 'till they put on Hajime no Ippo (which I decided I didn't really like)
I met up with two guys I know from school and some random people they met at the convention (including a guy cosplaying Alucard). The guy cosplaying Alucard had a Vash plushie, and the other guys beat it up with a kendo stick until the head came off. Then I took a group picture, and the one other girl in the group went home. After which "Alucard" (I don't remember his name) threatened to beat the guys who killed his plushie up with Kung-fu, and I was all "But doesn't he [Alucard] have a gun?"
Then "Alucard" wanted to take me and go "holler up the hot ladies" and he was kind of disappointed that I wasn't lesbian. The guys who broke Vash showed him to this one Vash cosplayer who was kinda like ^^; and walked away. They also Said "finally someone killed Vash. The gung-ho guns couldn't do it, nor could Knives, but I did with my kendo stick". After which, I saw some Gundam Seed, then found the group again and we watched some .hack//legend of the twilight which I think is better than .hack//sign.
Then the guys made a "Bawls" joke ("do you like Bawls?") trying to throw me. It didn't work, 'cuz I know some people at school who use it to help them stay up all night to cram or finish papers.
Also, at some point Alucard talked to this girl who agreed the fix Vash. She took Vash up to her room and Fix
Then I went to the dance, but they started playing some music I didn't like and I wasn't feeling so good so I decided it wasn't worth it anyway, and I went into the hotel and sat in one of the their big armchairs. Then Alucard and the girl who agreed to fix Vash showed up. Vash was fixed, but he sort of had a bobble-head, which was kinda cool. We saw a Tira Misu cosplayer (sorceror hunters) who was wearing Tira's skimpier outfit, and Alucard though that was pretty cool. I left at about 9:20 PM after taking a picture of a rather good Aerith (FF VII) cosplayer.
I'm going back later today, but I got a chance to sleep in today.
It was SOOO much fun! *goes off to download AMV finalists*

Stuff and Fanime
2004-05-28 22:19:09
Fanime started today... and I can't go 'till tomorrow T_T
Oh well, I'm 99% packed for Fanime... food, money, pre-reg card, etc.
my itinerary:
1. leave at about 8:00 AM
2. Arrive 8:30ish
3. find registration line
4. hope it doesn't take much more than an hour (last year, Friday, 12 noon, in line for 1.5 hours roughly)
5. arrive at balloted AMV finalist showing by the start at 10 AM hopefully
6. watch and vote
... and do something else like eat lunch afterwards.
It's gonna be fun! I'll wear my Fanime T-shirt, and maybe my Tsukasa hat (the best part of my cosplay last year).
I'll be bringing CDs to listen to during any downtime (like in the registration line)

...speaking of French
2004-05-27 21:33:07
My only homework today was for French. I had to answer some questions about "Petit Nicolas" (as story we've been reading, it's about this kid and his family on vacation). That was amazing, no English homework (we almost always have English homework).
...and stuff.
...must... watch... videos!
Yeah, I'm weird. Plus, I have a bit of writers block, which of course makes it worse... because I'm that stupid.
...we watched part of Macbeth... er... the Scottish play :D today. It was the Roman Polanski version, which is so melodramatic that it's kind of funny. It's like, King Duncan shows up at Macbeth's castle and starts talking to Lady Macbeth, who's been trying to get her husband to kill King Duncan, and then there's this big flash of lightning. I thought that was funny. It's not the script, it's the way they did it, the effects and stuff. I'm guessing either someone didn't know what he or she was doing, or else they just didn't want to do Macbeth and therefore screwed it up. "course it could be accidental or t=something, I suppose.

...stuff
2004-05-24 18:46:02
205 hits right now (to my journal).
Artificial Light is now at 3.10 ^_^ with 61 star ratings, which means some people gave it a four or five.
I'm going to try to do all my homework before the weekend so I can spend lots of time at Fanime. ^_^
I have the music from "Mystery Conundrum" running through my head right now. It's a good Spirited Away video, and I think all Spirited Away fans should check it out. Also, the music is pretty cool.
I just finished my French homework, but I'm finding my English homoework (which is actually overdue from this weekend ^^;) a bit more perplexing. So I'm here, trying to do something else and hoping I'll get an idea. This IB (international baccalaureate) stuff is hard. My previous classes hardly prepared me at all, and I've already taken the AP language test, but now I have to do another IB assessment. Fortunately that's not what's due, and it's also almost the summer. Soon I'll be free, and then I'm going to go to Europe (get a chance to try out my French ^^;).
So yeah, that's about it right now.
