JOURNAL: bubblehead

  • More editing-related stuff 2004-06-05 22:41:48 Found out that for distribution codecs, at least, you need a height divisible by 16 (don't think that goes for huffyuv, though).

    Nasty lines/bars on some frames (mostly not ones I'd use anyway).

    First episode 100% clipped and ready. Next Step: get audio.

    Took SAT II subject tests.

  • Aspect Ratios wrong! 2004-06-04 23:58:07 A.D. wrote "OK, so this method will give you a script that looked something like this:

    MPEG2Source("C:/yourdvd2aviprojectfile.d2v")
    Telecide()
    Decimate(5)
    LanczosResize(720,360)

    [or LanczosResize(960,480), whichever you prefer]"

    Neither of the aspect ratios given are really 16 by 9! I had to figue it out myself, so it'll be:
    LoadPlugin("C:AVSFiltersMPEG2Dec3.dll")
    MPEG2Source("C:Documents and SettingsmeMy Documentsvideo, audio sourcetheanime.d2v")
    Telecide()
    Decimate(5)
    LanczosResize(640,360)

    then I'll edit it 16:9 and add borders later.

    ...so yeah. But the new version of the guide is better; it's been fixed. And I was just about to complain, too. :(
  • AMV Hell 3, continued 2004-06-03 23:42:52 I'm dealing with widescreen footage! Which means I got to read more of the guide... anyway, I chose to downsize it, because it'll eventually have to be the regular resolution. I'm too tired (and vague on the idea) to get clips now, but I'll think about it more and do it tomorrow. Also, I thought I might add black bars now, so I wouldn't have to do it later, but then I thought "but that could be bad during editing," so I didn't do it.

    I'll be editing in widescreen then, I guess. It was my longest avisynth script ever, five lines.

    ...I decided I won't actually convert the file 'till I can clip.

    ...It's not helping that I'm sick and tired.

    ...a widescreen TV show. Why?

    ...one down, a lot to go... plus the audio, taken off of a DVD *sigh*
  • AMV Hell 3 2004-06-03 22:53:42 Well, I got a track idea accepted for AMV Hell 3, which is cool although it got changed somewhat in the process. I shall now proceed to rip the video for the track (man I've got to get more DVDs of that series - I'm maybe halfway through).

    ...this is funny, 'cause I intended to start another AMV before Fanime... but oh well, this should be refreshing since it'll be less than 30 seconds. That way, my enthusiasm won't wear off partway through.
  • The rest of Fanime 2004-06-02 20:01:14 I went to Fanime Sunday and Monday as well, and it was pretty awesome. I went to the first 2.5 acts of the concert but then I didn't like all that hard rock stuff the j rock group they had on was playing. However, I got to see Nami Tamaki in person, which was the point of me going anyway. I also met some people who flew in from Chicago. They said Fanime is much more organized and the staff and attendees are more friendly than Acen. Also, according to them, the cosplay (especially Der Cosplay) is much more interesting than Acen, where apparently the cosplay is all about fads, and the cosplay competition is all about pocky jokes. They didn't get the chair chanting bit at Fanime. I had to explain it for them.

    I also saw saw DDR Project 3, which was great, but some of the people in the room had never heard of it before.

    ...let's see, I saw the new, fansubbed Tenchi Muyo OVA, on which the subtitles were almost unreadable. But it was funny, and the crowd was really vocal, saying things like "Oh! Buuuurned!" (that was me) and groaning or laughing at appropriate moments.

    I also saw some more Fruits Basket. Now I want it! T_T

    I was unable to get Nami Tamaki's CD in the dealer's room, but I did get a Cardcaptor Sakura pencil board (why are they called that?), laminated cards with pictures from Xenosaga and Hikaru no Go, Chobits DVD vol.3, a Chii plushie, and Rayearth GN 3.

    I saw part of the AMV semi-finalists showing. That was pretty varied. Some of the videos argueably belonged in the finals.

    I took pictures of some more cosplayers and of the groups I saw playing.

    So yeah, that's it.
