  • Jiggah 2002-05-21 13:59:45 Happy day!

I was preparing to create CDs to send to my good acquaintance (never really met her, so can I truly call her “friend”?) when I was struck with a thought. The simple reason that I didn’t upload my videos to the FTP site was the simple little fact that I’ve got a simple 56K connection. Uploading two AMVs at 40 megs each would take approximately 5 and a half hours of uninterrupted uploading. Unfortunately, not only do I not have the patience to do something like that, but the internet connection is shared between all four PCs in the house, somewhat limiting my connection dedication. Thus it’d be more like 8 hours give or take. I ask you, fellow AMV people… do you wish to leave your PC uninterrupted for 8 hours? And if you’re still in high school, living with your parents, even if it IS your senior year, do you really think they’d let you? Mine sure as hell wouldn’t.

Wow, that was a lot less simple than I was expecting… anyways, that was the problem. The people that run this city don’t see it fit to even put in a Taco Bell, much less a broadband connection (but they were more than happy to introduce the town’s third automatic car wash)…

But my school is much more lucky than I.

Somewhat illicitly, I took the very CD that I plan on sending Meri soon (don’t worry, if you don’t feel like downloading my vids, you can still get it from me) and took it to school where I proceeded to upload the videos to the FTP while sneakily overlapping the upload with http://www.math.com. Oh, they’ve got a nice little testing system in case you were wondering. Anyways, it took less than fifteen minutes to upload (kind of unsatisfying, as long as it took to make ‘em… but I suppose I already complained that taking a long time was fruitless, so I’ll leave that one alone for now), and anywhere from a week to a month I should hear from my host as to when they’re available for download, but now you get to see what I’ve been doing since MMX4. Speaking of which, all my vintage videos are next in line for release, but I’m not sure when they’ll get up. School gets out on Friday and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna come back to school during Senior Sendoff (aka we get out one week early than the underclassmen do) just to upload stupid music videos, no offense meant. So we’ll see what happens. I’ll try to do that tomorrow, but no promises. =)

So… that’s that! The videos are on their way. I’ll tell ya when they’re ready for release. I hope to hear a lot of constructive comments; I’m just starting out with the DVD-format videos where I use all original footage as opposed to smootching off of other people’s stuff, and I can use all the pointers and notices that I can get to make my next projects better than ever. So, download once, vote often! And have fun!

With as much love that my poor widdle heart can give,

Will I get all of 'em?
    Yes. One...at...a...bloody...time.
  • I think my life is complete... well, everything but the house, the wife and the kids, that is. 2002-05-18 22:43:16 Finally FINALLY got my hands on the PS2, which came with Jak and Dexter and Final Fantasy X. But I wasn't happy with the game selection I had at the time. So I went out and bought Guilty Gear X. And Capcom VS. SNK 2. And Orphen: Scion of Sorcery. And Dead or Alive 2 Hardcore. And Bloody Roar 3. And a memory card, as it's difficult to save progress without one. Perhaps once I graduate from school in two weeks I'll have scraped up enough money to get Virtua Fighter 4, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Lust 2, Arc the Lad collection, Rez, Eve of Extinction, Zone of Enders, Metal Gear Solid 2, Tekken 4, Tekken Tag Tournament, PaRappa the Rapper, whatever the newest version of DDR is (Ultra-Dillyo Pimp-masta Remix) and Megaman X5 and X6. As beeping broke as I am now, probably not... =) Could always sell a few comic books...

Aah. CvSNK2 is so fine that I think I can die now. GGX comes in at a close second and looks better to boot...! Unfortunately, the fighting system just ...well, it just isn't Capcom. >shrugs< Sorry.

As for FFX, I shall finally be able to beat a FF game on a system that I own, which I haven't been able to do since FFVII and VIII on the PC. Question is, when will I have time in between GGX and CvSNK2? Choices...

Oh, I feel so gosh-darn happy now that I think I'll send the host my CD on Tuesday, and send Meri a copy to boot. You might be surprised at my works recently, and once I get my amv station up and running, I shall continue surprising you. For now, my friend from the Marines just called, so I shall leave you to your own devices and to feel severe jealousy towards me. I love jealousy. Tastes like chocolate pudding.

  • Granma gave me chocolate cake. 2002-05-12 01:39:11 The idea for my next AMV was shot down so close to being gloriously alive due to the simple fact that no one that I know can import Toonami footage and/or send it to me. Blast! Gaah... it was a kicken idea, too, featuring one of the most... nay, THE most... beautifully animated ...anime ...ever! So now I wait for either an assload of Gundam W DVDs or Evangelion DVDs to wander into my lap. Eva's on its way, and if I want Gundam I'll have to buy it >pfft. do you have ANY idea of how broke I am after buying that PS2?<, so Eva it is.

Also good news in the world: sometime in October or so, my webpage will be up and running... at a mere 7.77/month, at that. I'm not so thrilled about the 200 meg hosting space, but I can't bitch at near free. That'll let me host three to four of my videos at a time without breaking a sweat as far as my webpage space goes. I'm thinking of "retiring" past videos that I take off the server to make room for new ones to be hosted by the Golden Donut plan. Everyone be sure to kiss Phade's ass for that idea; I know I will be doing plenty of asskissing myself. I encourage you to drop

    what you doing!!

right now and kiss Phade's ass.

Also, This is about to be the site of the first of what I hope to become a series of "Lists" that I'll make about miscellaneous items... you know, Anime here, games there, movies speckled in-between, annoying things... etc. Hopefully I piss off a few people (heh) in the process, thus allowing them to flame me to no end. Did I tell you I love flames? Drop by some time; I love a heated discussion.

    Onto the list!!!

The Five Most Beautifully Animated Animes 3vAr, according to the master of such things, ME!

Note: this list does not include Movies. It's a given that movies will be better animated than the series, which makes it that much more important that the series itself be beautiful! Or somethin like that. SAME THING GOES WITH OAVs.

    5. Gundam W

It saddens me to find that this is shoujou (probably butchered the spelling... It means "girl stuff"), because I always thought of this as a pretty mascueline show. If you dodge the gay ending song and the romance... but what would it be without poor, stupid Relena mucking things up for Heero and the gang? ...I'm off base. The animation is great, but the action's where the show really shines. If you disregard the fact that they reuse a few scenes. But who doesn't? DRAGONBALL Z IS THE REAL THREAT IN THAT DEPARTMENT, M'KAY!? That's why cool people READ DBZ, not watch it.

    4. Cowboy Bebop

    Wow...

...Wow. It's great! It's heavy on CGI, fine, but there's something raw about how they use it. Or something. HEY, IT LOOKS GREAT, OKAY!? LEAVE ME ALONE!

    AND WATCH IT!

    3. Trigun

It made you laugh. It made you cry. Most important of all, however, is that it looked good doing it.

BEAT ME! JUST DO IT! ;P

    2. Urutsei Yatsura

It's funny, it's OLD, and it's great. This was before the whole big-tit thing hit it big, so no huge knockers (to speak of...), but the females ARE well animated.

    ...

    Oh, go away.

    AND THE WINNER...

    1. Sorcerous Stabber Orphen

I can't stop talking good about this series, because quite frankly, I can't help myself. Among the piles of Zoids and Digimon (aka completely computer animated; shows no sign of remorse, etc.) plaguing the releases of new anime series, a PS2 game is turned into an animated epic. Who woulda thunk it'd actually look good AND have more than a half decent plot going for it? And, most important of all, it's ALMOST always beautifully hand-drawn animation, and I say almost because in episode 10 they hired shitty animators and it thus was the worst looking tripe I've seen since those very special low-quality animators that did Dragonball Z tossed at us. And again, in Episode 11 they decided to down a few extacy tabs and go totally CGI. Worry not; they were obviously fired, because since that episode I have yet to see the return of the CGI. Except for that annoying spinning globe that is shown whenever the "elder" magicians talk. That's CGI. But BESIDES THAT, nothing. The action sequences are perfectly drawn, the campy moods are hillarious... but hey, to quote my old friend Levar Burton from Reading Rainbow (yes kids, and Star Trek: The Next Generation too. MISTER LaForge.)...

...You don't have to take my word for it. Buy the first three DVDs. If you're not thrilled with the quality of the animation, then go away, because... I.. don't want to.. see... someone that doesn't... like ...Orphen's animation!

Wow, what a sucky list! Mabye I won't be writing the next one at 1:35 on a sunday morning after spending six hours in a car going from Lansing and back to visit my dear old grandmother. We can hope. -.-; I think I just saw the Pink Panther across the street.

().o M'kay time for bed now.
