I don't know what's up with the host... he said he'd "get with me on monday" to give me the shibbay on the status of my music videos... and that was about a week and a half ago. I just don't know what to say. I'm disappointed, as I'm sure you guys are, that even though I finally got my videos onto the internet, you can't get to 'em. And he took them off the FTP, so at least I know he was >trying< to get them up and running on his page... but I just don't know. I mailed him about four or five days ago asking if he could give me a status update on wuzzup (and kindly asked for a link to his page, seeing as whenever I format my computer, I forget to save important stuff like, oh, addresses, links... that kinda stuff. =D) after he sent me a mail saying that he was going to get 'em up, seeing as he just got his Cable Modem set up and was starting work that week, it might take longer than anticipated.
I guess. Shit.
Oh well, it's not like I'm paying him for this service... but I was just hoping he'd come through for me in the end. Here's hoping he does.
Until then, I've got giant puppies that need some luvin'. Better be careful; they tend to get rough. ;)

What? No!!! You're one sick bastard... ;P

Well, all this week was spent at a friend's house trying to get a job in the nearby town of Big Rapids. I got one. Training starts on Tueday and Thursday... and I couldn't be happier. Income! What a concept! And at this very moment, I'm at my mom's boss's house watching Scout and ...forgot his name... Ah yes, Ollie. Both are beautiful retrievers (one golden, one chocolate). Ollie's the gold one, and he's your basic playful, energetic three-year old puppy... that's taller than your kneecaps. He gets annoying; he >just< calmed down enough for me to walk around without tripping over him. Scout, the Chocolate Retriever, is much more mellow (one might think that he was stoned)... he seems a bit sad that Mommy left. He won't "come" unless you personally escort him, collar in hand, to wherever you want him to go.
Anyways, I'm over here watchin' the dogs. This is my job for the next week. She handed me a check for $145 for doing it, so I'm okay with that. A little more extra summer money to waste, I suppose. ^-^
I brought some entertainment. I have a truck, but no licence (yeah, isn't it sad? Graduated and all I've got is a learner's permit. I'm taking the test sometime next week with any luck...), a TV but only two local channels, and an empty house with an inferior computer (it's a P4, but it's painfully less powerful as opposed to my current one. I'm bringing it over here tomorrow one way or another.).. I brought over my PS2, but I don't have a PS2 controller (leave it to me to render a videogame system completely inoperable). I told my mom to pick it up and drop it off here, and she brings my COMPUTER controller. B4k4. So here I sit, with six music CD's to keep me company (the dogs seem to be dozing off), a PS2 that I can turn on and make the TV look pretty, and that's about the extent of what I can do. Phooey. I'd finish my latest AMV, but again, my computer's at home for now.
I'm gonna put in a few more Disney tapes and try to fall asleep on the couch. Tomorrow's a big day; gotta get ready for the open house! Hurrah! More food 'n money!

Bah, I'm bored! I may resort to >gasp< MSN CHAT...
o.O;
Please, just kill me.

Bah.

Well, as illogical as it may seem, the DVD was the source of my problems. Even after switching Hard Drives, the blasted thing was locking (it was behaving so prettily last journal entry I made, right? Well, after I rebooted, it did the exact damned same thing), and my tip-off that it was hardware, not software that was the cause of my problems is that it was never reproducable. Software locks at the same time for the same reason and can be reproduced every time. When it cuts in whenever it feels like it and does it irratically, you know it's hardware that's causing the problems. So, after switching IDE cables and removing video cards, my very last resort was to simply switch the DVD drive to a slave for the HD and keep the CD-RW on its own separate IDE controller, and lo and behold, the computer is still up and running. Why, you say, that sounds like it was the CD-RW's problem then!
Unfortunately for you, you didn't know that this CD-RW has been on this motherboard in the past without a hitch. The DVD has not.
So, we isolated that lil' problem.
Graduation's tomorrow. Until then...

Bah, technology sucks.

I musta forgotten to tell you people that when I bought the GeForce 4 last weekend, I went ahead and bought a new case (to put all the new shiat in), a P4 1.6 gHZ Northwood Processor, a spankin' new 20X DVD drive, a 30 gig HD and a floppy to accompany the GF4 (If I wasn't broke before the PS2, I sure as hell am now...) and I must say, this is by far the best PC I've ever even dreamed of having.
Unfortunately it's being a whore.
Yesterday, out of the blue, it decided that locking up whenever it was loading something (game saves, watching AMV's, etc.) within ten minutes of afterboot or 20 minutes of doing abso-fricken-lutely nothing was a GOOD thing to do. The problem survived two partition wipes and eventually a low-level format, until this time I got whacky. I'd noticed that it wouldn't lock when it >wasn't< actually in Windows (I'm running XP), and when it was in safe mode it wouldn't lock at all. Now, Safe Mode disables Visual Themes (the candy-ass looking shit that is your new taskbar and start button in WinXP), so I've decided to revert back to the "classic" scheme which takes all that poo out. And I am happy to say that it's been up for 40 minutes without locking up! Huzzah! Mabye it'll let me do critical updates and driver installs before it tries that shit again! One can only hope that disabling visual themes would fix it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it started messing up again. I'd be pissed, but not surprised.
Someday I may be able to restore regular usage. Until then (whips out hammer), I remain, humble as ever...

>SMACK!< Oh, and good news from the host: he's getting back with me on Monday about the status of the uploaded AMV's! Fret not, they're on their way!

>sigh< Another Wednesday.
2002-05-29 12:27:54
But what am I doing HOME!? This must not be just ANY Wednesday... it's the first Wednesday after Senior Sendoff! Which must mean... whilst all the underclassmen go through another week of school, graduating seniors get to stay home and do NOSINK! What a tragedy. I tell ya, I was REALLY looking forward to more exams and homework.
It's kinda odd to think of myself as one of the "graduated" kids... after three years of watching other people to go, it's weird to think I won't be coming back next year. Nope, by September I should be comfortably settled into the "big town" of Grand Rapids (divide Boston by 1/6. That'll give you Grand Rapids, yet it's one of the biggest cities in our lil' state. It has four things going for it that make it simply spectacular to be there, however.
4. Best Buy
I really, REALLY love this store. If I can, I'll get a job there. All those games, TVs and computers... and DVD's! Good lord.
3. Woodland Mall
Woodland Mall is pretty much the best lil' mall I've ever been to, because it has two stores I adore: Electronics Boutique (Mini-Best Buy, but they've got a better selection of PC games... and Olga's (not a store, but a resturant. Look in your phonebook if you've never been there, find the nearest one and GO! Tell 'em Harper sent ya). And, then if all else fails and I'm too broke to do anything, there's always...
2. Barnes and Noble
What other store encourages you to pick up a book and READ it, may I ask? They set up a cafe and put couches all over... just to please us all. HURRAH! I found my Homework place, by God.
1. IT'S VERY, VERY FAR AWAY!
Well, only an hour, but any chance I have to get out of this hellhole of a town (We just put in our third Automatic Car Wash, yet we can't convince the city people that Meijer or Wal-Mart would ACTUALLY BE A >GOOD< IDEA... they just drove away a water bottling company that would have brought so much money into this town that it's not even funny. What sorta hicks run this joint...?)
Well, picked up a new Video card that just so happens to have a TV-Tuner built in. I love GeForce 4, man. It was a steal at $130. Now I can do my Toonami project! Huzzah*! Ah, and my CD collection has jumped to a staggering >3< titles since having all my CDs stolen right out from under my nose the other month. So I now have Disturbed, Incubus and Audio Adrenaline (UNDERDOG!!!!!). I dun even have Linkin Park anymore. I'm so bummed. Whatever money I don't put away for college from this summer job will be spent on PS2 games and MUSIC, capital on music.
Other 'n that, it's all good. I'm gonna start working on the video today and when that's done, I guess it's time to start writing up my webpage (Big launch date is in September! Mark it on your calendars as Harper Month!)
And on that note, I bid you farewell.
