Monkeys can be fun!
2001-12-10 16:41:03
Well, the weekend smashfest was a ... nice... time... Truth be told, damnit, Smash Bros was NOT the godfest I was hoping it would be. I hate to be a killjoy, but it just didn't seem like it was as much fun as I remembered the first game to be, and I'm not nuts. Probably the best level in the game was F-Zero (racecars zoomin' by, kickin' soundtrack, fighting against Captain Falcon... what else could you want?), and it wasn't like I HATED the game... it just wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Even though the single-player mode is, on paper and in theory, more fun than it was before, it didn't quite feel right. However, it still doesn't lose the appeal during multiplayer, thank God for that. THAT's a blast.
Then we played a game where you move a table and manipulate a monkey in a rollcage.
Right. Next up was the incredibly addicting Pikmin. Let me tell you, that's one F'ed up game. Most of it takes place in Shigeru Miyamoto's (kill me if I spelled it wrong) backyard, where you find ...onions... that produce... carrot-dubbed-"Pikmin"... that you have attack bugs, throw bombs, salvage spaceship parts and leave before sundown, lest you get eaten by noctournal bugs fifty times your size (oh, and in 29 days your alien airtight suit will malfunction and have you drowning in the toxicity of ..oxygen, a leathal gas).
...sounding weird yet?
It's the best strategy game ever created. 'nuff said.

My turn in the limelight... who can withstand the almighty power of Link now?
2001-12-07 19:02:14
Well, in so many minutes (aka whenever Carl gets out of the black hole he's disappeared into that I can no longer reach him) I will be heading over to a house. This house has a jet-black gamecube, a friend waiting, and a copy of Smash Brothers Melee and Pikmin. If God had a name today, it would be Carl. Luckily that's impossible, cos I bet he'd be upset at being named Carl. Not that Carl's a bad name. I like the name Carl. Perhaps the firstborn child that I umn, create >blew that one< will be Carl. Carl this, carl that, I'll carl you all when I'm done drooling.

with only >3< games for his Gamecube. Poo.

NOH, MeriC! >I< AM LINK! o_x;; Be... Jigglypuff or something.

I remember back in the days when fighters were as simple as Super Smash Brothers for the N64. If you thought you could beat me, you put your money on the table, selected someone OTHER than Link, and prepared to go home crying... broke. Yessir, Link's one pimpin' fighter in that game. I could master NO one as well as him, and no one else could use him with the utter ...erm, Mastery (I do that a lot... -.-;;)... that I could. Use him with. I said that. ANYways... it seems that this weekend my skills will be called upon again, as a threesome (mind out of gutter, you dorky fanboy.) will do battle in the Wubbulous World of Dr. Mario! ...er, Smash Bros. Melee. I'm kinda curious as to how the controls for this momma are gonna handle, seeing as the N64 version was almost >too< simple to figger out. And this controler, though being incredibly confortable, is incredibly ODD. I don't think I'll be seeing Capcom Vs SNK 2 on the Gamecube anytime soon. Though Biohazzard Zero looks like it's gonna be one helluva time.
Luigi's Mansion is the hardest momma-jomma to get used to the controls well enough to DO something without loosing half your life. I went through about an hour and a half before I figured out that you've gotta move BOTH sticks away from the ghost, not just the yellow. I'd been following the ghosts before, and that's no good. Can't wait to get my hands on Pikmin, though...
WHY AM I TALKING ABOUT VIDEOGAMES AND NOT MUSIC VIDEOS OR ANIME, YOU ASK!? Well, to tell you the truth, I haven't been seeing very good shows lately. Oh My Goddess! is probably the best thing I've seen in some time... and that pissed me off anyways, the whole five-episode series thing. The manga's still going strong, fer Christ's sake. Ohy. That was disappointing.
Enuff! Gotta leave now, my paper's done, I'm still sick >sniff< and I need sleep. Off to bed...

Good lord, what have I done...

Big Big Truck: A THOUSAND appologies! Never questioned your sex before, but now I see the mistake in that... -.-;; But this makes it so much COOLER. What artistic talent! What a sense of humor! What--

*ahem* I've been playing Max Payne a bit more than I ought for some F'ed up reason... this is probably one of the very few next-gen videogames that I've found myself actually enjoying, and I'm not one for shoot-em-ups, mind you... I got outta that stuff around Quake II 'n such, when I moved to RPG's and, most recently, fighters. If you're lookin' fer a quick fixin' of Street Fighter Alpha (Zero) 2 action, check out http://dfg.theunderdogs.org, an outstanding database of PC games for the fighting genre, both young and old. There's still a few games on here that I haven't gotten yet... >looking for blue suits< But this is only legal if you actually own the game, and I do not condone >snicker< the use of games illegaly >snort< that you don't own >giggle<, so don't FUCK with the system and the system won't fuck with you >buffaw< ...SHUT UP, LAUGHING VOICE IN THE BACKGROUND!
>crickets<
That's better. School was nice, and now I've got a final-draft Psych project to finish writing up, so I'll let everyone go on with their lives for the time being.
