JOURNAL: Harper (Harper cannot tell you his first name. Taboo.)

  • It's official. 2002-01-11 21:37:08 Got the first reported error for my MMX4 video, and this means that my host privelages (as well as any other non-member people that were hosted) from Random Variable has gone the way of the dodo. Thanks for the wonderful time, Adiamante. She got a good 345 hits before the thing hit the dust.

Now, why would I bother updating?

God bless his soul, Nailz gave me a bit of a peptalk today, and he also slipped me a name. I talked to the person I was directed to and have found a new generous person to host all my videos and future releases! I love nice people. Someday when I'm rich enough to do what this guy's doing, I'll be sure to return the favor.

So, what does this do for you? Nothing. But you'll be able to see my sub-good music videos, kind of a blast from the past. Just know that they're nothing compared to my MMX4 vid (which, in some views, doesn't say much), and are mere specs as to what I have in store in the future. But they shall come! Yes. Then you shall disrespect my name, my family's name and my cat's diet. But then I shall show you my newfound awesome DVD-quality power (once I figure out the sonuvabitch), and you shall gasp aloud, saying, "HARPER! You know what you're doing now."

And I'll say, "Yeah, I know."

  • It's as ironic as the whole sub/dub wars... 2002-01-10 19:18:56 Well, I was gonna make a happy little post today: I have found the magical powers of the DVD, and it is good! I swapped my crapola 4x CD-RW burner for a DVD-ROM, and now have the power to make some spiffy looking stuff! Not only that, but you guessed it... I would now be back in full swing making the videos I've been hyping for ages now.

BITCH-SLAPPED! (as usual these days...) Jon Watson e-mailed me about two seconds ago telling me that they're shutting down hosting privelages (understandable, seeing as the poor dude lost his job), which leaves me eating dust yet again. All work that would have been completed will never be released to the public, because between having to pay for an apartment next year (surprise, Harper's going to ITT-Tech!) and keeping myself fed with food and stuff like that, or hosting my own videos. I'm not having the funds necessary to host my videos. So, as wonderful as the dream was, that's all it's going to be.

Yes, I'll continue making videos, and yes, I'll continue to send them to that special person I've talked about back in the day, but for now, Meri is the only person that will ever see my other works. Finito. Finished. Right when I was running to take off, someone tossed a bananna peel my way. It's like... God doesn't want me to do videos now that they can have the power to be good.

Well, that's it. That's the happy post. Have a nice day... for me. Please.

  • Well, this is one of those four-years-in-the-making things. 2002-01-05 00:50:46 You're gonna call me pitiful, I know it. Just another of your loser anime fans that was introduced to the genre of animation by a little cartoon called Dragonball. Believe it or not, though Dragonball Z was the first show that I watched, it was not the show that got me interested in the animation at all. In fact, after staying up until the 12:30 showing of it on Cartoon Network's Toonami and looking at some white creature with lipstick that I could only assume was a female (Freiza happens to be a guy, though... just another mix-up, I suppose.) screaming about some poor dragon's balls.

I shut it off... "I waited this long to see ...that?"

About two weeks later (this all happened my freshman year of High School), one of my girl friends (not girlfriend) was borrowing a tape about Lodoss War, and upon further inspetion, I found out it was a fantasy/action animated show that looked rather similar to the tripe I saw on Toonami. But, I decided that since I had nothing better to do that day, I would take that tape home, and damnit... I would watch it front-to-end. It was subtitled, and it was a bit difficult to stay with the animation/speech/text ratio. After a few views, though, it became a second nature, and I couldn't get enough of this new, excitingly hard-edged animation style.

That christmas vacation, I visited my grandmother in Lansing. We decided to take a trip to Blockbuster Video (what a difference! ...ya know, the old commercial jingle... Blockbu-- oh, nevermind. Young fools.) and see what was new with the Hollywood world. I, for some fated reason beyond my comprehension, wandered towards the children's section, where tucked beneath volumes upon volumes of Sailor Moon (discarded then... cherish nowadays) was Dragonball. "where's the 'z'?" I wondered... but then again, this looked different. So, I took it back to grandmother's house and sat down to watch it.

Though looking upon it now, Curse of the Blood Rubies is not exactly a top-notch movie... but I'll give it credit for introducing me into the wide world that is Dragonball. Since then I've pretty much seen everything there is to see about Dragonball Z. Ask me something and I'd probably answer it wrong, because I'm not one of dem silly fanboy nerd/freaks, but it's definately a fun show. There is a problem with me not paying enough homage to the original DB series that I plan to rectify ASAP, but there was something that I really REALLY felt the need to do, and haven't, and you can shoot me when you know that..

Today was the day that I watched the Vegetto segment of the Buu saga. For the first time.

"What!? I saw that like... six years ago! This kid's a loser!" That may be so, but it warms my heart that I was able to see the origin of what has become the most rediculous aspects of the Dragonball universe... fusion. Yeah, yeah, Gotenks came first. But Gotenks was gay.

Vegetto roxors. Oh, and the next time you see me, adress me as "sir".

  • The reason to buy Melee: A small, two-dimensional man. 2002-01-03 19:36:59 "If I wasn't a celebrity, would you be so nice to me?
if I didn't eat cheese like, everyday...
would you still wanna be with me?"

Well, checked the stats on my video. It hit 304 downloads not too long ago, and >gasp< PEOPLE SENT OPINIONS! Be sure to look up the opinions for my Megaman X4 video: Tekka-Reploid Zero hit it right on the button. That's what a commentary's supposed to look like, people! Where were all the other opinions? 304 people download, and 4 comment on it. You bad people know who you are... ^.~

Now, back to the usual off-topic discussions I usually post in my journal. Melee is, of course, much better than usual. But now there's a reason: I HAVE ALL THE CHARACTERS! Yessiree, that was a thrill to pick up Mewtwo (Aftaid he's not the godly fighter I figured he'd be, but eh.. whaddaya want?) and... you're not gonna believe this... Game & Watch Man was worth the 45 dollar CD in my opinion. If I had a >working< camera, I'd post a picture. He is... so FUNNY! Pictures wouldn't even do him justice; when he moves, he moves like he does in all those low-quality LCD games, and he is... a 2D model, of course! Even Kirby can inhale him and become a lookalike (but, of course, Kirby's still 3D. Can't fake the 2D, 'fraid.). And on top of that, he's not bad at fighting! Better 'n Mewtwo, that's for sure. Aah, that was cool. And now there's All-star mode to beat with all the characters (and I have 200-something trophies now, so I'm guessing there's a total of 275... 300. 300 max. Despite it all, Link is still the King of the Ring, and probably always will be. It payed off to master him in the original game... there aren't too many Link specialists out there. They think he's too slow. I think they're too fast. Punks on speed, that's all.

I'm thinking of firing up a copy of Frontpage and creating some webspace to post on my Randomvariable.net webspace. After all, it's just sitting there and taking up space... ^^ so we'll see. When it gets up, I'll be sure to notify here and in the Off-topic thread in the Phorum. And as a final note... I'm GOING to get that Radeon All-in-Wonder, and then you shall be held aghast at the power of... *NSync! 'Nuff said.

  • Kenshin... that ain't even cool, dood. 2001-12-30 16:07:35 That's all I wanted to say. Please refer to http://animemusicvideos.org/opinion_info.php?vid_id=3027
