  • New video project 2006-05-21 16:31:18 Well, after much delay on my last Elfen Lied video, I finally managed to forget exactly what the point of it was. :/ So, no Slipknot video (yet, I may still try it one day). I still however wanted to make a Elfen Lied video, just maybe not a 6 minute long one. So I began keeping my ears open for possible new songs for a romanceish gorefest video, strange as that sounds. I knew it had to be a rocking song. I knew it had to somehow deal with the fact that Lucy was a psycho killer. And it also had to have a message of redemption in it, something that "Vermillion" lacks and which I wasn't so fond of anymore, although the concept is still solid. The "Vermillion pt. 2" and "Vermillion" idea was from Kouta's point of view, mostly, the whole "She isn't real, I can't make her real" aspect of the songs were appealing to me. But I was listening to my newest CD accquisition, the Alice In Chains hits album, and I started listening to it. And finally, after going though a LOT of awesome AMVable songs (and having several ideas), I got to "Would?", the last song on the CD. I listened to it once, and dismissed it, since it's nothing like Kouta's view of his relationship with Lucy. But on listening to it a second time, I realized it was pretty close to how I saw Lucy's relationship to Kouta. Particually the chorus's repeated "So I made a big mistake; try to see it once my way?" The whole of Elfen Lied is trying to get you, the viewer, to sympathize with a mass murdering psychopath, and I immediately clued in on this aspect of the song. The song lends itself to a rather effectsy treatment, but I'm not sure if I want to go that route or try to leave it simple. I think I'll just slap scenes on the timeline, get them timed right, and then worry about effects in a second timeline, which is a powerful feature of Premiere Pro that I'm really starting to abuse with my RoS3 track.

Other Alice in Chains ideas, in order of likelyhood:
"What The Hell Have I?" to Karas
The lyrics are near perfect, but there isn't a whole lot of Karas yet. I'm betting the second DVD will help flesh this idea out. Might make this, probably will leave it to the masses though.

    "Them Bones" to Haunted Junction
It was a funny idea but I'm not so sure anymore. Maybe later.

    "Iron Gland" to Naruto
Stupid. :O Not worth getting the 3 episodes of Naruto for the scenes.

The problem with AIC is that their songs are very complex, with lots of different rhythms going on at once, from the drums to the guitars to the bass. So total sync is challenging.
  • Dangit 2006-04-07 09:13:05 The discussion in that spinless coward thread was getting good again and it got locked for flaming. Calm yourselves people, it's the Internet.
  • Is it just me... 2006-04-01 20:48:00 or do all the 'unworthy' banners look EXACTLY the same as the so-called 'worthy' ones? Jeez people.
  • Update (as though anyone is waiting for one) 2005-10-05 09:36:17 1. Armitage III/Tokyo Godfathers/Aqua Teen Hunger Force video set to a mix of ATHF dialog and the song "1969" by Boards of Canada. Yeah, that's the big secret video that was supposed to be my Pro entry this year. :P

Still working on it, so far it's coming along very nicely. The goal of the video is as in all my videos: to try something a little different. The video's genre is fairly unclassifiable, in that it contains ALL genres. Comedy, dance, character profile, action, drama, a tiny bit of horror. Instrumental except for the dialog bits. Serious. Fun. So, this one is going to get marked "Other". :)

Oh, and the title for this one (previously called "untitled")...."Ecclesiates 1:9."

"That which has been is that which shall be; and that which has been done is
that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun."

I thought it was appropriate. Really, the video is nothing special, but I like where it is going. DORITOS WIPE.

    2. FFVII:AC video to The White Stripes song "Blue Orchid." I've never really done a true action video before, so I decided to try one. I like this one so far as well, I might even release it.

    3. Bible Black to the System of a Down song "Cigaro." This one I've got a lot of hopes for, but I haven't even started it yet. :(
