  • 4444 hits 2008-06-02 18:56:29 Today I arrived home at my grandpartne's house. When I tried to get on my flight, they wouldn't let me, even though I arrived an hour early. So I got on the 6pm flight and called Eric to come pick me up. The rest of the day, I made myself an omelette and we hung out with Eric's mom & Karna. Then Leslie tried to give Eric's dog Timmy a bath. He tolerated it well enough, because he had nowhere to go with the shower's glass doors closed. He just stood there, looking sad and shedding.

After a few more hugs, some laundry and goodbyes, we went & got Ohana & gelato. Eric was teasing me so bad on the way. I was all "Gelato! Gelato!" and he was like "We're not getting gelato. I'm just going to tease you." He was doing that up until we pulled into the parking lot. It was so funny. After that, I checked into the correct gate, unhindered by security. After a couple hours, I started to get worried. I was all sitiing there, reading Watership Down, when I realized that the plane was sipposed to be boarding. I asked some guy in a uniform what was up, and he told me to go check the message board. I did so, and found out that the flight was delayed by an hour. I waited some more, read Gunslinger Girl, then finally got on the plane. We took off right into the sunset. It was beautiful. I just looked out the window and listened to techno music on the radio. The movie was Jumper. I didn't need the audio, I just watched it & listened to more techno. As we touched down, the city lights were beautiful. It was like they put Christmas lights all over, or like that scene from Tron where they show the city. I chatted with the random guy sitting next to me. He was all talking about how the flight back to California feels shorter.

After I got off the plane, I ran and gave my grandpa a big hug. I was surprised at how different my grandparents looked, particularly my Grandma. I didn't recognize her at first. As time has gone by, I feel more familiar with her, but seeing her so thin & frail was quite a shock. We went to the hotel & talked, then went to sleep.

Today, we hung out in New Orleans. I needed contact solution, so we had to find a grocery store. Their prius doesn't have a navigation system, so my Grandpa used a map and acted as navigator. After that, we experienced traffic, then on to the French Quarter. We wanted to eat at a place called Mr. B's, but it wasn't open yet. My Grandma had a cigarette at Monteleone, and my Grandpa and I walked down the street & looked at the art galleries & antique shops. There was the most interesting woman who owned one of the galleries, and she talked about the various connections she had to California. Apparently, her daughter works as a pharmaceutical rep in Sacramento. She used to live in San Jose, but had to move.

At noon, we picked up my Grandma, saw the interior of the hotel (which was lavish & beautifully decorated), then had lunch. They have $1.50 drinks. I had punch, Grandma had a martini, and Granapa had a bloody mary. We ordered food, and it was good. It's been so long since I've had real gumbo!

After lunch, we were all tired & relieved to be back on the road headed toward home. The trees felt so familiar and relaxing. The freeways in the South are so much more fun that the ones in California. I fell asleep on the drive, and I wasn't the only one!

At home, I marvelled at all the things that were the same, and all the things that were different. I found a plastic tub filled with all the clothes I wore when I was 16, and tried some on. Now I'm a bit depressed about my body...

After that, I called my friend Nikki, then downloaded some of my amvs to show my grandparents. The end(!)
  • 4434 hits 2008-05-31 12:21:52 Wow, crazy week. I have mostly moved my stuff into my mom's house, with the exception of a table and a chair. I am going back to the apartment to get those, then I'll have some much needed free time. i plan to hang out with my mom, seeing as how I'll be out of state for the next 2 weeks.

I got hit & run the other day. Some asshole at a 2-way stop waved me through to make a left turn, then he slammed down on his accelerator and hit me! His van was fine, from what I could see before he sped off. I tried to follow him to get the license #, but he was going too fast, and without a reliable #, the police can't find him. SO, that sucked. My car will be at the body shop for a while.

In the meantime, I have a rental. It's a big big (red) truck. It's been useful in my failed experiment in apartment moving. I found a better deal than the one I was planning to move into the night before I was supposed to sign the lease. It's my neighbor's buddy who's the manager. Unfortunately, I can't move in until after my plane leaves for Mississippi, so I have to store my stuff at my mom's house until I get back. Gladly, there wasn't too much cat shit on the floor, and what there was i was able to mostly scrub up before putting my bed down. So gross.

today I ate strawberry banana waffles with Eric, his mom & aunt. Last nite we had Italian. OMG the scallops were so good. The nite before, I took Eric out on a date at my fave Greek place. The owner that hugs people wasn't there, so the host hugged us instead. I'm going to get dressed now.
  • 4423 hits 2008-05-28 16:58:56 Got back from faime monday nite around midnite. It was awesome!! I got to see my amv summertime guilt on a giant screen. This is the 1st contest I entered. Unfortunately, it followed the video with garran laggan to the mulan song " I'll make a man out of you." Needless to say, I didn't win. I did have fun, tho. Congrats to all the winners :)

I spent SO much money in the dealers hall. Last year I didnt bring cash, so this year I took out $400, $200 of which I was planning to use for the hotel. It lasted until the last day of the con....So many new figures!! My favorite is my model of unit 1. It cost $8 & is fully articulated. I had to assemble it, but it turned out good. Hopefully, the stickers will stay on. I have so many amv ideas to do with my figures. I just need an editing program of my computer first...

So this week, I have to move out of my apartment. I want to do that tomorow. Still aren't sure where I;m going to move to, so I'll store my stuff at my mom's house. Then on Friday, I'm going on a day trp to San Diego with my friends. then on sunday, I leave for my 2-week trip to mississippi. It's going to be a busy week.

    I;m tired now....
  • 4411 hits 2008-05-20 02:52:39 I hate Dave. The asshole interrupted my plans -again- without prior warning. Not only that, he inconvenienced like 3 other people, all because he wanted to get his childish way. I am no longer speaking to Dave.

In other news, I spent the day studying for my physics final, yet I feel more nervous and less prepared than when I started. Here's hoping it will go well. Frankly, I just want to get it over with so I can relax. With chronic XD!

Also, still haven't heard back from the juice place. Don't think I'll be working there this summer. Oh well, there's still lots of places to apply.

I really want to go clothes shopping, but I might wait until after fanime.
  • 4393 hits 2008-05-18 01:54:30 Yay! I'm in Fanime!!! This is my first contest. I'm super excited.

Also, I found an apartment I like. It's smaller than my current one, but I'd have it to myself. The neighborhood is good, and it's like 3 blocks from the beach. There's parking available. But it's not free. They allow pets, but there's a deposit. I plan to get a dog: a Pomeranian.

I might have company on my trip to Mississippi...a boyfriend accomplice....
