Non Stop Excitement! Alright!!!
AWA This year was incredible. Here’s what happened, incase you give a piece of filthy rat carcass.
Friday: 3:30 AM Left the Apartment with Damon and Lesley. Hit the road. Not a bad bit of driving, as we made it their in 8 hours, fueled by intense conversation and industrial music.
Hit the con at about 11am… threw my stuff down in the room, and busted out to find everyone. Hit the VAT room for a few to see who was around… not too many people, so I bailed from there, and cruised around the dealers room for a second.
Headed back up to the VAT to see the EK and Hsien Lee panel… woo, what fun! Even though they ran out of videos, it was hilarious. What the HELL was that video with the crazy guys dancing around with fireballs and things? I must see this video in its entirety. Anyone who can send it to me would be my new friend!!
Went down to the opening ceremonies… uh… hardly anyone went to that… it was sort’ve disappointing and non-bravada filled, but hey, who can complain. They tried.
Began Drinking directly after that – started with my trusty sex on the beach concoction (I say concoction, as it had all sorts of weird vitamins and stuff in it, as I was still sick, and trying to feel a little better). Saw David Violence. He was violent as usual… or not violent… actually he was pretty tame, as usual, and was wearing a bear suit, which is unusual, but still odd. Saw Hsien, said hi. Heard that he had seen the Totoro video and was digging it. Met Nathan Bezner (NightOwl), and saw Joe C. (the amazing Croasadaile!!) – both drunk, only one with bunny ears. Joe spoke the mystical punch of doom which he was drinking. I was offered some, but I thought mixing everclear with what I was drinking may have been a bad idea. Ended up busting out the strange Korean Sweet Potato randomness (called “Jinroh” or something. It tasted nothing like the anime). Checked out the DDR Party, talked to some AMV Guys and Gals (and got video of them being entirely drunk). Heard there were nice people in the bathroom, distributing Gum. Busted out Stalin, the amazing Hammer and Sickle-ed flask. Many people were won over by the mighty power of Communism that night, let me tell you, comrade! Passed out at 3am…
WOKE UP QUICK AT ABOUT NOON! (just knew that I had to hit the VAT soon…) (wicky wicky)
Went into Lee Thompson and Brad DeMoss’ panel (late), and sat down for a few. My stomach was in knots. Saw people who had been drunk last night, and talked for a few. Did I mention the knots? I can’t remember much of what happened until the AMV Awards…
One thing I’m noticing about the masters, and its disturbingness – you wait, and wait, and wait till the end of the contest.
The expo vids that won were pretty darn good, though half of the people who won them weren’t there. The Pro vids were really good…
The Masters vids… I liked most of them pretty well.
I remember after my video had played… people stood up to clap… like, other AMVers… god, that made me feel great……
But I knew I didn’t win the contest. I felt like a winner, though… whether or not I ever get a prize.
Resumed drinking: Talked on the patio area of the hotel for a while drinking… met the guys from Random Variable, who offered to host my vid (Woo! Yeah!)… met Carlos, who made the Boogipop vid which had the cool DVD menu thing, and also used Aphex’s come to daddy… talked to him for a few. Went to Iron Chef. Stayed the whole time. It was fun to watch people’s editing techniques. Hit up the parties, the AMV Party first of all (met Nathan and Hsien in the elevator on the way down from my room, and ran down to the party with them)… drank there for a while. Headed downstairs to see the sushi people (victor showed up, just back from Japan the week before!). Had the best sake I’ve ever tasted (I can still taste it… amazing flavor!)… drank a LOT more. Went back up to the AMV party, till it got shut down by “the man”. Oh well… went back down stairs yet again… drank more… drank more… dr… yes, you get the point. Passed out at 4am. AWA… yeah. What a damn party.
Sunday:
WHA??? Ahh! Wokeup.
Crawled down the stairs. Went back to the VAT… Whee. Said bye to people as I was getting ready to go. Drove home in INSANE traffic. 3 hours, sitting almost STILL.
That was my con experience. I enjoyed it.

walked back into town and everything was cruddy for a while (at work now, with piles upon piles of crap I need to do), but honestly, it isn't going to get me down.
I had the BEST damned time at AWA this year, all because of AMV stuff and people.
I didn't win the Masters, and thats ok... I feel good about the response I got from the video. I wanted to thank everyone for their support and applause during the AMV Contest... that lifted my spirits so high... Hsien L., Nathan B., David V., all the Random Variable guys, Jason S., Joe C., and everyone else I got to hang out with, and talk too... you all very seriously made my weekend with your kind words, and support. Thank you so much to everyone who helped support "The Truth About Totoro". My dream to warp the minds of the young and impressionable will now march to the ends of the earth, and will destroy culture as we know... well, anyway, thanks!
it will be available for download VERY soon, as well as a few others from my "collection" (probably just the Lords of Acid "Pussy" video, and the Prodigy "Smack my bitch up" vid. as I'm scared to show the other ones... hehe)
I look foreward to next year already... 300 something days and counting!

Yeah, anyway, gettin' my shiza together, gettin out the door. I gotta burn some copies of my video today, else I get my ASS kicked by people who asked for a copy (all 1 of them! David Violence is my HERO! YAYY!) though maybe a few more people will want it after they've seen it? Maybe?
I think I'm asking for too much.
I was just watching my video again to make sure it didn't suck... it usually doesn't change very much.
I wonder if I took too much of an opposite viewpoint... or... ack, ok, I'm shutting up now before I overanalyze myself.
If anyone ever actually reads these journal posts, this is my AMV world... it's hard to have confidence, or whatever you call that crap when you're just not sure what you're up against... I think I just need to be happy people are going to see this video. Hehe. I hope you all like it.
Big shout outz to +D_V+, EK, and other people I'm gonna say hi to. Save a drink for das sushiboy!
