Oh mannnn… what hasn’t been done. I’m excited ‘bout AFO… I’m wondering whether or not I’m going to actually be able to contribute anything worthwhile to the AMV Panels, but whatever… it’ll be fun anyway. So, lessee… my collected advice for AMV boys and girls looking for advice from someone: “Don’t do video editing for a living… do it as a hobby!” I’ve had those days where I literally don’t want to look at any NLE after spending an entire day locked in one… editing SiggTV 2001 was one instance, editing one of those Army Videos was another… boring, repetitive… no real room for expression, or creativity… deadlines that mean food or none… no, sir-ee… editing should stay as a hobby. The only real reason I have actually finished any AMV’s recently was because I haven’t had to open Premiere or Media Composer at work. Of course, I am gaining a lovely disdain for Pro Tools Now… or maybe it’s just for Macs…
Or maybe it’s just for People… some people are like Macs…

Well, I just sent off my submission for Professional at AWA this year. I'm super jazzed on it. This is the deal, though, that is weird to me...
Not to downplay how I liked the way it came out, but I did the entire damned video in about 2 days. I entered the footage via Mini DV deck (dubbed from DVD Source clips) into my system, and went to town on it. one night of about 3-4 hours editing, and the next day spent pretty much all of the day on it.
Thats the thing about videos. Your favorite video may take 4 months to finish (my stupid Atari Teenage Riot video took a long ass time) or you might finish it in 2 sessions (Lords of Acid was this way, but it sucks on most accounts because of the system it was edited on, which shall not be named).
Now, if only I could get some freelance work, so I can get my new dv bridge. I mean, I can use the one at work, but thats a pain, and requires staying in the office after hours. No fun! That and Kurosawa (my kitty, and yes, I know Kurasawa is spelled differently... long story) comes and sits on my lap while I edit at home. He, too, knows the truth about totoro.

it's not nice to take something that someone is sensitive about, and poke fun at it... I feel sorta bad...
Then again, I still get mocked by my fiancee for the time I got very drunk at a record store (long story involving the German electronic group Funker Vogt, and me playing barkeep with nothing but cheap vodka and vitamin c enriched orange juice), got a ride home from my friend sean, made him pull over, threw up in front of an Eckerds drug store, in the grass (woo, wonder if anyone saw me... probably... busy corner...)... threw up when I got out of the car, in the grass in front of my apartment, barely made it into bed, and then got up, threw up in the bathroom for about 2 hours (varied, I think I passed out on the cat litter pan for a while), till she got home, and then I moved to the bathtub, where I thought she might not see me. I woke up the next morning. Then I threw up some more. And she makes fun of me for it. Alchohol is bad, children... it's bad, and it makes you do silly things.
