JOURNAL: SushiBoyJared

  • Oogly 2002-09-09 10:27:17 only a few more days till JVC GRL DVL315U arrives.

This will be nice, for though it is not the finest of cameras in the DV Department (JVC = Japanese Video Crap, so I'm told), it will provide me with archiving ability, and a sort of "DV Deck" for my home use, as I can shoot with the XL or GL from work, and then pull tape, take home, and edit. I wish I could afford a nicer DV Camera, but not in the cards at the moment. Ahh, oh well. I should get a camera bag for this one, so it'll be safe at AWA... drunken hijinks are often non-camera friendly.
  • hardeedlyhar 2002-09-06 16:50:56 Video Made Ez - I feel, honestly, that the advent of miniDV/firewire capture brought about a new world, as far as editing and shooting goes - cameras that capture stunning quality (less stunning than beta, but still stunning), can be controlled by a normal home PC, and programs that edit quickly, and handle footage with absolute ease. This is why I STILL insist on using MiniDV rather than ripping from DVD - I sacrifice slight ammounts of quality for the ability to keep my master batchlists in order, and be able to re-digitize everything in one swoop, and rebuild my timeline again in perfect 1/0 quality. Love it. I also love this fucking Chobits video by David Violence!!!!!! Ahh! Automated Reason/Chobits video that is. This guy is good, and he still plans on going to film school - he's got technique, creativity, and soon practical application/theory. Watch out editing world.
  • Hurf! 2002-09-05 15:05:56 DragonCon - Wacky. Cons in General - Wacky. Playing concerts hurts. I got tired after the 3rd song, and sort've lost my drive... I need to exercise more, hope it wasn't dissapointing. I tried to rock! I felt sort've stupid - I'm running around all over stage, stomping, swinging the mic stand, leaning, rolling on the ground, whatever it is I was doing, and everyone in the audience is just standing/sitting there: SITTING!! AHh!

Was going to NOT go to AWA a few days ago, but now I am going again... I feel like I teenage celebrity, doing whatever the hell i want whenever, and hahahaha, no, I don't.

Funny how the AMV Contest inspires - its pretty much the only reason I'm going, that and videotaping the masses of anime fandom, for the helluv it... I have a feeling we'll have some interesting-ness happening. No one knows who I am, so I can just run around and bother people with my dvcam. Whee. None of the "I love that one video" people like Hsien, EK, Joe Cros., Lee Thomp., Keep Naming them, all of those guys get. Noooo, Sushi Boy Jared had 1 good video, and now he's burned out. He doesn't have webspace to host videos from!! :::crowd gathers to jeer, and mock:::

    make them stop, mommy!
  • Woo 2002-08-19 09:01:38 Damn, afo was wacky! There were some very cool videos, and I'm glad i got to be a part of the judging. My favorite that I saw in this contest was a lovely video to the Aquabats! "Captain Hampton and the Midget Pirates" song-ey-thingee...

I am SO busy with preparations for all the other cons I have going on... sorry if I've neglected emailing any of you who I have been talking to...

Gah, I was going to have all this stuff ready for Dragon*Con and AWA and now neither time nor cash permits... grr! Common Problems.

Regardless, I'm gearing up for my next video... I've been wanting to do a Hellsing video, and I think I might be able to pull it off. It'll be funny, I hope, but more sort of sarcastic action. Is that a category?
  • Larrr 2002-08-02 12:26:30 only one entry again at awa... sigh... oh well... it'll be fun. maybe this year I'll actually try to hang out with other AMV creators rather than walking around the con taking pictures of anything totoro related.
