JOURNAL: Big Big Truck (E K)

  • O Fole Rancou... 2002-01-17 11:17:45 Bowler: INDEED. Thanks so much for the super-twisted oekaki. I LOVE IT. Bebop ep. 20 + Dr. Seuss + Toulouse-Lautrec all in one joke = HUZZAH!

    Hsien: I wasn't able to d/l that MP3 last night (crappy ass 56k, and uploading 10MB worth of Ushicon badge image files) but I will try to today at work, since iTunes can play MP3 files.

    For some reason, I've been finding a lot of cheap doujinshi for sale lately. Should be getting most of them in the mail next week.

    I'm such a dumbass - I got some money out of the bank yesterday and it's all in my jeans pocket. At home. And the card I used to get it is in my wool jacket pocket. At home.

    *Sighs and goes to charge a $2 coffee on her credit card*
  • well Bo knows this - what? / and Bo knows that - what? / but Bo don't know jack / 'cause Bo can't rap 2002-01-16 13:31:03 Amizadai: Been there, been there, been there. I so hear you on the "clients paying you 50 cents for $5 worth of effort" thing. Gaah. It must be doubly tough for video editors, since people in general seem to have the idea that editors just do it for fun and play around. Rrrr.
    Do you get random emails from people offering you like 20 bucks (or nothing) for hours and hours' worth of work?

    Again, Gaaah.

    Just wanted to sympathize. ::offers you a beer:: :D
  • I know you better / than you think I do / don't worry dear / this is why I fell in love with you / the man in the looking glass / is looking back at you at last 2002-01-16 13:25:29 KenShimazu: Doesn't the Internet rock? :D
    It's so neat to get email from other countries - nearly all the email I get about my AMVs is from the U.S. or Canada (although I heard from someone in the Netherlands last week), but email about the Bebop site comes from all over. Czechoslovakia, the Ukraine, France, Singapore, Italy, Israel, etc... but most has been from the U.S. and Japan.

    Got this gift art from a visitor in the UK last night. Need I explain why this is the best thing EVER?

    Anyway, speaking of worldwide fandumb, today I tried something new - went to the Blue Crow (http://bluecrow.anigames.it) website to see if it had been updated, and realized the evening chat session was currently running (noon here, 8? pm in Italy... I think?), so I dropped in to say hi, since the webmaster and I have exchanged links and hellos here and there.
    It was pretty wild - I had to extrapolate a lot from my rudimentary knowledge of Spanish and Latin, and even so, only caught about 1/4 of what was being said. Had to run a lot of stuff through Amikai.
    Whenever anyone addressed me, they used nearly flawless English. It was so touching... I really appreciated it, and tried my best to piece together understandable statements in Italian. Felt like a big 'tard. ;_;
    Mostly just lurked for a while, though, then said "ciao" and thank you and bowed out.
    I still want to hear the Italian dub... the French one was pretty nice.

    I wanna get the Eva DVDs so I can watch Evangelion in Spanish, too :D

    AAAAahhh, I can't wait for the Star-Trek-esque future in which everyone can understand different languages with the little ear implants T_T

    Go Go cybernetics!
  • Joga bola , joga bola, jogador / Joga bola , joga bola, corocondo / favela pelada favela pelada... 2002-01-15 22:20:06 Elepsis: Don't those books rule? I just finished the third one about a month ago.

    Got my first negative review on "Failed Experiments" today. It's weird... I feel like I should be down about it, but... this was the reaction I was expecting from the general public all along. Honestly, I thought maybe 8 people would find it funny, and everyone else would go "ehh".
    Anyway, I appreciate the reviewer's honesty and consideration. He was very polite.
    It's kind of a relief, in a way, to know that my twisted sense of humour isn't universal.

    In other news, If you want to hear that Jorge Ben song I've been raving about for the past couple of days, I've put the MP3 up in my temp directory, where it'll rest for just a day or two:

    http://www.big-big-truck.com/temp/Jorge%20Ben%20-%20Umbabarauma.mp3

    This kind of music is not for everyone, but I just love the bass groove. If it sounds familiar to you, you may have heard it sampled on Lucas' song "CityZen" back in 1994. The lyrics are in Portuguese. Don't download it if you only listen to Linkin Park or Limp Bizkit, or dislike songs in other languages; you'll hate it.
    Anyway, yeah, I know I mentioned I was thinking of doing a sports themed video to this (due to the lyrics), but it's not an imminent, dear-to-my-heart thing, so I don't mind sharing the concept.

    Well, I haven't heard from Yuri yet, but I did hear from the recipient(s) of another gift art I did recently.
    Muwahahahaha. Let's just say it went over well.

    You lose some, you win some. Today has been very karmically balanced.
  • I know this guy who / goes to shows / then he's at home and / he blows his nose 2002-01-15 16:30:21 Jesus. Cedar pollen is going to KILL me. ::takes more Advil to calm raging headache::

    Well, last night, right after I found the site that had my Old 'n' Ugly art up (without my permission) for all the world to see, I got some giftart from a UK reader in my mailbox... and this morning I discovered that Lex linked me from her page. So Artkarma is balanced for January 15.

    Sigh. I totally wanna rip up that gift pic I did yesterday. SO MUCH is wrong with it. But I still like the background (and the fact that it HAS one).

    Just ... ignore the characters and just pay attention to the background, and the lighting... ::winces::

    FUCK. My head is THROBBING. My left eye socket is PULSATING as it turns to concrete. AAAAAAAAAAAAH.
    ::falls over::
