JOURNAL: Big Big Truck (E K)

  • And the paper today tells of war in new ways but she turns right over to the TV page 2002-02-12 10:20:34 This will be the journal entry in which I talk about nothing of any importance or interest. (As opposed to the usual?)

Have I mentioned that I wish I could draw like Lex?
    http://eagle.ca/~cadams/newpic.htm
    Because I do.

Yesterday was Official Tweak Day on BBT... optimized most of the wallpapers, reduced redirect pic size by half, removed some old crap from the anime pages, etc. etc. More revisions to come today if I run out of things to do at work.
Still have 2 gift arts I need to do - I want to get them done before I have to do that 100k kiriban. Graah.

At last, my redirect GIF is no longer my #1 most transferred file.

It's time for FUN BBT STATS, because NO ONE ASKED FOR IT! Wheeeee!
    * Domain has been held since June 1999
    * Most transferred non-menu file on BBT: Bebop Wallpapers page
    * Average # of files transmitted daily: 55,100
    * % of visits that are user-direct: 47
    * Top 3 referrers: Google.com, yahoo.google.com, google.de
    * Average traffic per day: 884 MB
    * Average page views per day (for Bebop): 867

Greh. I need to dump and/or hide some more files. x_x
At least I've gotten enough freelance work to justify writing the site off as a business expense on my taxes.

Been thinking more and more about my next 4 videos. Of those four, two are going to require hand-done original animation (aarrgh), two require floating blurred text (aaargh) and two require 100+ layer masks.
I'm so going to die if any of these videos ever sees the light of day.
  • Replace the rent with the stars above / replace the need with the love / replace the anger with the tide / replace the ones the ones the ones the ones that you love 2002-02-11 12:12:03 This weekend was mostly delightful.
Woke up around 8:30 Saturday and had to take the car into the shop for an estimate (front fender got cracked shortly after Christmas, but I didn't have time to take it in till now), stepped outside and was INSTANTLY in a good mood.
Saturday had the kind of weather that makes everyone come out of the woodwork - the kind of weather you get 3 or 4 days out of a whole year. 68 and clear as a bell, windy but not gusty... heaven.
Left the shop in a spectacularly good mood; felt like driving all day long. Went down on Lamar to buy gas, since it's about 7 cents cheaper there than on northside, on a whim, stopped in at the Phoenicia bakery and got some pistachio baklava... then it was decided : Baked goods is (are?) where it's at. Promptly headed up 360 to the weekend farmer's market. There is just something inherently RIGHT about driving 80 mph down an open highway with the windows wide open and the sun shining down and U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name" blaring out of your stereo.
Got free coffee, went to my favorite stand and got a spinach pie for myself and a cookie & cinnamon roll for Aleks... also grabbed one of those little flaxseed & sesame cookies (yum!) that are usually sold out by the time I get there.
Took the long way over to Brett's house (more sun+speeding+stereo, this time "Blue" and "Call Me Call Me"), and hung out with Aleks while we chowed down on homebaked goodness.
Sun got glaringly bright, so went home to clean until 4... ended up finishing the living room, then watching Excel Saga and napping instead (gee, how'd that happen?). Slept with 1337H4X0R on my chest for half an hour or so, then got up again, cleaned the kitchen & bathroom, and got out and DROVE for a good two or three hours. I just WENT. Took Manchaca as far south as it went straight, then followed some little county road out west to a ranch, wound up in another county, on another little two-lane road, unfettered by surrounding traffic - just me and the sunset and the music and the hill country.
I got back home just as the last reminders of the sun were trailing out of the western edge of the sky.

Sometimes, having no money to go party downtown can be good.

Sunday was uneventful for the most part - slept late, lay in bed daydreaming for another couple of hours, worked on the site for a while... Brett was still in Dallas, but we talked online - at 5 Aleks and I grabbed a tasty tasty dinner at Brick Oven (Mmm, Peroni and pesto), then went to see "Brotherhood of the Wolf".
Summary: France is terrorized by a MONSTAH, Mysterious and Melancholy Noble Savage(tm) helps track him down, some romance, and some kungfu horror stuff... and some more stuff. Yeah.
All in all it was a decent movie, but I couldn't care about any of the characters. Also could have gone without the taxidermy scene (complete with Squish-o-vision!) and the
Cinematography was wild, though - I dug the glowing white flashback sequences and the speed-up, slow-down pace in the action scenes (even if the camera got too close for the audience to get a clear view of the fights).
Does anyone else think the Beast looks like the Didarabotchi? No? It's just me? OK, then.

Sunday ended with me fighting to stay awake through a Benadryl haze - I wanted to see how CN would treat "Cowboy Funk" ... Answer: they didn't.
    Ah well.
Then I Slept the Sleep of the Dead.

Oh yeah, music videos - derr.
My KoHD DVD still hasn't shipped, so haven't started on that one yet. Forgot to pick up Utena on Saturday (didn't have the funds anyhow), and need to pester Joe to let me borrow his copy of Only Yesterday.
In other words, everything is on temporary hiatus.
    "What's a hiatus?"
    "What you just described."
  • excuse me... but I just have to / explode / explode this body / off me 2002-02-08 14:47:19 I AM SUCH AN ASS.

It's PUNISTATION! PUNISTATION!!! Who made my morning.
Although DJ_Izumi rocks the house too.

    Gaah.
That'll teach me to post without coffee.
  • Nuestro canta de amor / nos cuesta tanto 2002-02-08 14:38:23 Also, DJ_Izumi now has my undying love. Man... OPTIMUS FUCKING PRIME. I cried. I'm also immensely happy because I finally had an opportunity to use the most hilariously Wrong picture EVER as a response.
    Renba Country 0wnz m3.

    Anyway.

This morning as I was pulling out of my apartment complex, a couple was crossing the street to go to the grocery store... traffic was running pretty constantly both ways, and they'd just made it to the median when they had to wait for the northbound lane to clear up.
While they were waiting hand-in-hand in the middle of the road, the sun came up over the row of buildings across the way - it made a dreamlike sight - a couple holding hands, framed by yellow sunlight, in the middle of a sea of traffic.

BBT is up and running again, smooth as silk. I'm still trying to disable img srcs, but have managed to protect most of my image directories on the Bebop site. (Yeah, I moved a lot of the pics into sorted directories rather than just lumping them into the Large Mass of JPEGs.)
If anyone knows how to disable img srcs, let me know.

This is funny because I'm 12:

    Quoth Phancy: "The Assman cometh."

Picometer? Fermis?? Either way, this is just COOL:

  • to sleep...to guide my steps to blue... 2002-02-08 00:09:10 Aokakesu: I'm going to have to disagree with you on one count there. And you know I'm being honest now, because I've had a decent amount of vodka.

That aforementioned one count is my own video.
"Failed Experiments" was a total doof. It was done on a whim with a minimum of effort (I mean, Sharpies on inkjet paper!! Really...) over a period of 12 hours. Honestly, I feel really uncomfortable with the exposure it's gotten. I never intended it to be anything good - it was basically a joke I made that I thought that only like 8 or 10 people could laugh at.
That video is the equivalent of an joke spoken as an aside. It was never meant to be anything more, and I feel like it's artificially inflated.

"End of the Day" was sort of my opus - the one I poured all my heart into... but I watched it again this past Sunday, and was like, "I can't believe I spent all that time on this piece of crap! This is terrible!"

I guess... I guess the conclusion is that I have no idea why I'm in the VCA finals, but I really don't think I should be there. Especially with all the excellent vids that have debuted in the last year. (Seriously, where's Tenchi and the Masters of the Universe in Parody??)
