    BTW, regarding the end of my previous post, I *do* think Valentine's Day is stupid and pointless... I just don't like hearing people whine about how tragic it is and how the world's out to get them Every. Damn. Year. 
  • God's good and God is great, so I wear my happy face / war is in me, war is in you, war is in everybody now 2002-02-14 12:56:10 This morning started off with a nice karmic balance - I got to stay in bed half an hour later than usual (sleep interrupted, of course, by a claw-accessorized rib massage from one purring 1337H4X0R), but that was because I had an appointment for my Annual Ordeal at 8:30.
    I always treat myself to something chocolate-related after The Annual Ordeal - it's my one concession to the Cathy Guisewite Godawful Model of Femininity(tm) - this morning it was a tall mocha & biscuit. I have no idea how something as pansy-tasting as a mocha latte can contain the necessary amount of caffiene to see me through to Diet Coke o' Clock (read: 2-3pm), but somehow this manages.
    Or maybe it's the extra half hour of sleep.

    Somehow the world heard my bitching and moaning about webhosting costs - I've got enough freelance work lined up to have BBT pay for itself. If I get another gig, I might even make it to Anime Central this year.
    So far, I'm doing some character art for a video gaming website, and some type/layout work for a state health organization. I got another email this morning about some possible logo work, but it was written so bluntly and borderline-rudely, and came from a Lycos mail account, so I'm inclined to believe that the person who wrote it hasn't had much experience with freelance contractors.
    Y'see, I'm terribly snotty when it comes to taking commissions - any offers with numerous grammar & spelling errors in them get disregarded. I figure that if someone isn't serious about making a coherent offer, they won't be serious about payment either. Also, commission inquiries phrased as demands rather than, you know, INQUIRIES = in the trash bin.

    But enough of the ugly details of my work life.

    Oh, and I swear to God, if I hear one more person today whining about how Valentine's Day makes them want to rip their heart out and slit their wrists and bleed Morrissey lyrics into the snow because the world is so cruel and they're so profoundly alone and isn't life tragic, I'm going to perform the aforementioned tasks for them myself.

    More Vincentious goodness on the Bebop site today, this time in the form of a wallpaper that doesn't suck quite as much as the previous. A bit of a giveaway, but what the hell. I'm not interested in competition anymore, really.
    Can't believe I used Platthand and Dresden Firestorm in the same design. The true apex (nadir?) of BBT FontFuckery.

    So far, anyhow.

    Also some new original sketches on BBT main, but nobody ever goes there any more -_-

    Currently am jonesing for some Journey - it's an urge I get maybe once every 4 or 5 months, like for hash browns or ice cream. And my Journey CDs (yes, that was a plural. HUSH.) are all missing. Sad!

    Be good to yourself when nobody else will...

  • baby got pain on tap / baby gimme some of that 2002-02-12 13:04:41 Bowler: Well, both of the videos with original animation are going to require small but precise work - I'm using production artwork but pasting in new mouths over the characters' faces.

    I don't have the screencaps or character shots picked out yet though.

    I'll let you know how it's breaking down once I get to work - still waiting for my dern DVD to arrive.
