    Got the itemized list from THI yesterday but still no concrete specs to work with. No file format or PMS color info either. These guys have GOT to get their act together. 9 days away from deadline and I don't even have statistical data for the 400+ charts I'm designing, or word counts on the layout, or even a list of acceptable file formats! If I have to spend all weekend in front of a computer, they are SO paying me double. If I don't get the data from them by Friday afternoon, I'm bailing unless they move the deadline out another week.
    When it comes to work, there is NOTHING I hate more than having to bust my butt to make up for someone else's poor planning.

    What I love about freelancing is that I don't have to worry about losing my day job if I tell a client "you didn't give me what I needed in time, so you don't get the artwork, sucka."

    On the other hand, there's always the risk of developing a bad rep as an illustrator to work with.
    Still, a project of this size, 9 days from deadline, and no data. That's just a piss-poor business practice. I'm so not sending any files out until I have a signed, legally binding contract in my hands.

    I'm pretty shocked at how nasty folks have been in the forums lately. I didn't vote for or make the winning logo (there were about three that I liked - I tend to gravitate towards text-based, dynamic, and super-simple), but sheesh - what's the point in being so nasty? What does it solve?

    Remind me never to post any more artwork here. O_o

More specifically, taking out a bunch of anger out on ErMaC as if he stuffed the ballot boxes or something. People voted for who they wanted to vote for. >_<

    And that's all I'm going to say about that.

    Had a smidgen of free time today at work and cooked up 3 potential new looks for BBT:

    Found out that the freelance job I'm doing for THI is about 20x as big as I initially thought. While this does mean PHAT MONEY, it also means I'm going to have no life and no sleep for the next 10 days.

    That is, IF I EVER GET THOSE FUCKING SPECS.

    Been really enjoying Naoki Urasawa's manga "Monster". I hope this makes it over to the US soon. Despite the rising popularity of anime and manga, I still think we need more examples in English of slice-of-life dramas.

    Back at work today, feeling as good as can be expected after 6 hours of NyQuil-reinforced slumber. 1337H4X0R certainly didn't mind my being sick, as it meant more attention and cuddling time for him (though I could do without him making bread on me with those claws.)

    Since I got "Lovage" on Thursday (thank you Brett!) it's been in constant rotation on my car stereo. Ripped some MP3s from it yesterday afternoon, may put one up on my site later.

    I'm supposed to be doing this rush freelance job for THI, but their rep keeps NOT getting in touch with me. 10 days left before the deadline... grumbleumble. I'm SO upping my rate if I have to scramble to get this done b/c/o their poor planning.

    Starting my new AMV as soon as the DVD arrives (not KoHD, as I'd planned, but another idea I've been sitting on for the past 2 years, waiting for source...)
