JOURNAL: Big Big Truck (E K)

  • Anime and money... 2003-09-05 13:04:45 STB: right there with ya. I'm totally shocked when I read about friends just plunking down money for an R2 DVD set, or buying multiple DVD just on a recommendation. (And no, I don't bootleg either, I just *don't buy many DVDs*. All of our anime except for CB, Big O, and Trigun, is free stuff Brett has gotten from ADV.)
Most AMV editors I've met, and most folks at AoD, seem like they spend more on anime in a year than I make after taxes in two months. How do people afford brand new computers just for editing? How do they fly to Otakon and get a room?

More importantly, where are they working, and how can I get hired there?
  • 2003-09-03 10:26:14 So, the mp3 thread is up in the General Music forum, and a lot of people have been contributing their own selections, which is pretty sweet. I put up some pretty awful stuff yesterday and today. Egregiously cheesy music is fun.

Awa is in umm, 3 weeks. And yeah, I still haven't had a spare moment to do any drawing. Grah.
  • 2003-08-29 14:29:47 Oh - hey, d-dubya and MJ and Machine and everybody, have fun at AF!
  • How many AMV Editors does it take to screw in a lightbulb? 2003-08-29 11:54:10 I asked this in a public LJ entry, and these are some of my favorite answers:

    - One. They hold the lightbulb and the world revolves around them.

    - Nah that's cosplayers...You actually start out 27 editors, who all take on a different light bulb, with an intent to finish this Super Mega Light Bulb Screw Screw Revolution Megamix Project. Add three coordinators to stay on top of things, and inevitably you are going to have people drop from the project, so you have about 7 replacement ladder holders standing by.

    - It'll never happen, because an argument will ensue between those present as to whether or not the light bulb constitutes a 'special effect', and whether it is really necessary or just there as eye-candy to cater to the fans who happen to like light...

    - One, but the GE logo will be very apparent when the light turns on.

    - One to screw in the lightbulb, and 20 or so to stand around whining about why they aren't special enough to be the one screwing in the bulb.

    - One to screw it in, and another to test it by having a LIGHTSWITCH RAVE!!!

    - 50 creators will each screw in the same brand of lightbulb into one socket and eventually destroy it. Then when it finally gets fixed, every time someone tries to turn on the lights, they are asked to donate money first.

    - Doesn't matter how many screw it in or even how nicely it's screwed, they're still gonna get flak for using the same old lightbulb.

  • 2003-08-28 13:49:06 Debating starting a thread in the Music forum in which I'd post mp3s from artists folks might not have heard yet. Dunno if that would be of any use to anyone, though. Is that section of the forum used any more?

It's tempting, just so I could call it "omg thas not linknpark u fag" or something like that. Hee.

If you're interested, drop me an email or something, I guess.

T-minus 4 weeks. I gotta get my damn portfolio together.
