kyburg: it's funny that they write about it as if it's something new.
You know, I really do think that that kind of behaviour, as well as the "I'm not telling you what's wrong, you have to guess" and the passive-aggressive mind games that so many women play can be traced back to an enforced "rule" that a girl should always smile and act nice, even when she's mad as hell.
I remember middle school pretty well - it was rough. I was one of three lower-middle-class, ugly girls there (there was the skinny one, the fat one, and me in between the two), and while we banded together in anger against the rest of the world, at the same time we'd put each other down in desperate bids to rise up from the bottom rung. It didn't scar me for life, but that whole experience is probably the reason that I'm still very uncomfortable around groups of sophisticated women. Sort of a learned reflex - back away before they step on you - kind of thing. (Prob'ly also why I started to walk, sit, and talk like a guy in high school.)
There must be something intoxicating about having that much power - the power to make someone's life hell, to make their friends betray them. Is it any wonder that young girls exploit it?
Wooooeeee, I'm hungry. Better go.

I am in an irrepressibly good mood this morning.
Last night was the first night since UshiCon that I haven't had to come home and do freelance work. The character design job is still running, but I'm waiting to hear back from the client on the color roughs.
Gorgeous sunrise this morning over downtown - one of my favorite things about Daylight Savings Time is that I get to watch the sun come up on my way to work. Big swaths of yellow and dove-gray over downtown... fog over the lake... it was excellent.
This is kinda cool:

MCWagner: Now that's kinda strange, considering it's a great indie film, and fairly well-known. Try Amazon, maybe?
This is also strange:
