JOURNAL: Big Big Truck (E K)

  • Shimauta yo kaze ni nori / tori to tomo ni / umi wo watare 2002-04-15 20:53:26 This thread has a link to a wacked-out cover of that famous Boom song, "Shimauta". I should upload the original so you guys can hear it. It rocks so hard... this version is just... messed up. Not least because of the lead singer's voice shuttling back and forth between his chest and his nasal cavity. And the totally 1985 guitar & synth.
Plus Argentinian accented Japanese is... interesting.
    (But I still like it.)

(You also get to see me go all Boom fangirl.)
  • Bruthaz from another planet! / Y'all know the truth 2002-04-15 19:59:05 DiamondDagger, that's really cool of you. I've been in that sort of situation before, and most times the options are either: grin and bear it until you can escape (which leaves you mostly safe and in calm waters socially, but feeling ashamed for not speaking up); or speak up and risk provoking hostility (not to mention putting yourself in physical danger by incurring someone's anger).

Either way, people like that make your life hell while you're around them. It's really awesome that you decided not to fall in with the pack.
  • God's good and God is great / so I wear my happy face 2002-04-15 12:19:02 Kyburg: "Then I find out its five days to Chicago...I was JUST there, thank you.... "

You're going to Chicago in 5 days? :3
Hell, drop by the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, if you can, and say hi.

    Bowler: WOOOOO!!!
  • it's not too beautiful now 2002-04-14 17:33:59 AD: I'd REALLY be bothered if the government or some outside group were censoring or attempting to censor the AMVs hosted here, but as this is a privately owned and run site, it's really up to the discretion of the owner (Phade). We're basically guests at his house, after all.

For example, there are certain things I censor on Big-big-truck.com. (Most of what I take out is duplicate/empty posts and spam.) I'm not a governmental or publicly operating entity, and as such I'm not obligated to provide an open forum or allow people to speak whatever's on their minds on webspace that I privately own. (I usually do, but that's because posters at BBT are mostly articulate and intelligent people.)

That's what cracks me up so much about someone trolling Hissyfit.com or a forum like that, and then crying, "it's a free country!" before getting kicked out of the (privately owned) forum or site.
It's kind of like the difference between national law and rules of the home.

I'm all for personal discretion and judgment.

I don't worry about stuff like this unless the government or the church is involved in the censorship.
