    Today I feel like beating myself about the head and shoulders for being such a stupid arse. It's one of those days where you wake up just totally hating yourself for no particular reason.
    Was inwardly griping on the way to work: "Guuuhhh... I suck, everything I touch turns into a big pile a' crap... ... Hey, wait a minute... that would be like, the WORST mutant superpower EVER."

  • I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed 2002-06-04 20:18:12 Back from JACON.
    Had a fan-fookin'-TASTIC time there, thanks so much to the staff, especially Mr. Snackpants, Larry, Dixie, Quu, TJ, the Radio Sci-Fi crew, Brad, Lee, Denise, Vanessa, Vlad, the MTT crew, and the marvelous George Lowe. It was a BLAST.

    Thanks especially to the MTT folks for showing up at my Panel Of Disaster and not lynching me, and putting up with me being an asinine coot.

    Definitely coming back next year.

    Glad to see Brett's first video so well received. He is going to kick my ass and make me give up AMVs entirely :D

    Lemme see, rundown of random JACON memories:

    * Getting off the plane at exactly the same time as Brad and Vanessa and running right into each other at the airport
    * JACON coinciding with Gay Days = lots of buff pretty boys posturing around the airports. Not that I'm complaining, but it was rather surreal.
    * GOOD GOD THE HUMIDITY AAGH AAGH AAAAAAH. (For reference: I have cactus growing wild on my street.)
    * Playing "Spot the Normal" at the UCF Union
    * 6.5% state tax?! SWEET!
    * Totally bombing a Smiths joke at the 1 PM Friday AMV Panel:
    Lee: You've got to drink coke, get caffiene in your bloodstream...
    Me: So there's too much caffiene in your bloodstream, and a lack of real spice in your life?
    Audience: [silent]
    * 4 PM Panel of Disaster in which there was no working video equipment, but I had no new video to show anyway, because I suck and stuff. Played with an ethernet cable before an audience of 10 for about half an hour, got to meet Ryo from the Kusoyaro forums, which was cool.
    * Supah-cheap booze at Wackadoo's. But beware the Buffalo chicken sandwich, that thing'll kill ya.
    * Magical Exploding Wine Bottle at Olive Garden
    * Brett, Brad and George's Panel of Insanity
    * "Golf People" turning out to be Snackpants' parents
    * Best. Vash. Costume. EVER.
    * AMV contest flowed beautifully. Zabet's Tylor video totally kicked my ass.
    * Makyra's Ben Folds video totally deserved an award but I couldn't quite file it under "Comedy", "Action", etc... that "..... bitch." was utterly PRICELESS.
    * Audience not sick of Bebop videos? Woohoo!
    * Audience nearly rioted towards latter half of contest
    * There needs to be a "Fun" AMV category next year.
    * Subway closes at 4? The hell!?
    * Dinner w/ George Lowe
    * Getting to meet some posters from my Bebop Oekaki board... they were all 10 years younger than me ... I feel so damn old.
    * Wow, OK, wow, I'm totally overdressed and totally too old for the Saturday night dance.
    * Talking AbEx/CF with George
    * Talking shop with Jingoro and the MTT crew
    * Suddenly really wound up and feeling hyper. Make total ass out of myself at MTT party. ("She freaks out just like you!") So sorry, guys T_T
    * Rocky Horror Lobbyfest.
    * discovering that camera has not been working ALL WEEKEND.
    * Talking Episcopal with Larry.
    * Slow day Sunday. (As always)
    * Dancing for Donuts and Amos 'n' Andy references at George's panel (PC? What's that?)
    * Read or Die fucking ROCKS.
    * One Piece characters sound just like I'd imagined them from the manga
    * Bought Escaflowne "Lovers Only" from the ONE dealer who sold ANY legit CDs in the dealer's room (just when I thought I'd seen the last of SonMay...)
    * Also made out like a bandit on cheap old school VHS tapes.
    * Speaking of old school, we showed our age in Family Feud. Woof!
    * Carol Burnet theme song rendition at Closing had me in TEARS.
    * 103 degrees at Universal Studios - Brett and I were shanking ice cubes from the slushy & fruit vendors and rubbing them on our necks.
    * Spider-man ride ROCKED MY FACE.
    * Seuss village pretty cool too.
    * ONE HUNDRED AND THREE FUCKING DEGREES. Used to these temps in Austin, but not with 90% humidity and surrounded by concrete. Woof!
    * Capping off a long trip by drinking Beck's and watching "The Hamptons" in the hotel bed. Huzzah!
