I lied about having two... I left "Into the Oh" in my car. Oops. But you can hear the song I was going to upload ("Dumb Submarine") here:

Bowler: would share, but it's on Brett's machine.
Hsien: "Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space" is on the album of the same title. I cannot find this album for less than $19. However, having just been COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY BLOWN AWAY by "Let it Come Down", I may just fork it over. In. Love. With. This. Band.
Last time I went to Cheapo, I purchased U2, Robbie Robertson, and Midnight Oil... it was so funny to watch the clerk as he rang up my purchases... I could practically read his thoughts. "Oh god, Achtung Baby, that's sooo 1995, and who listens to midnight oil, and AAAH!!" (Then, aloud): "Omigod! You like Spiritualized?"
This weekend's trip was mighty cool as well, as the clerk who checked me out this time around was a HUGE David Byrne fan, and we shared anecdotes of the various shows. (He'd gone to the Eyeball tour show at the Backyard; last time I saw Byrne was at the Roxy in '98).
Tomorrow: Two Geggy Tah MP3s, ("Go" off Grand Opening, the song that originally got me into Geggy Tah, and "Dumb Submarine", which you will like if you like "Blue" from Bebop) and maybe a big phat 10:33 long Spiritualized MP3, if I'm feeling generous. (If not, Hsien, you get it anyway, because you're special and stuff, and I know you'd like it.)
Called my grandfather and my folks tonight for Father's Day. It's strange... I talked to Jodie for a long while. I wasn't sure what to make of Papa getting remarried so soon after Grandma passed away, but when I see Jodie, I just keep thinking that Grandma would really like her if they could have met. It feels like she's been in the family for ages already. It's a bit odd, but a good kind of odd, like an unexpected gift turning up at your doorstep.
Today I gave the apartment a Cleansing Of Biblical Proportions (tm). I mean, under the bed, under the sink, bags of stuff to Goodwill and Half Price Books, under the stove burners, bleaching the sinks... it took a good 10 hours, breaking only for an episode of One Piece (hey, a girl's gotta have her priorities) and for dinner.
The place doesn't look that different, but there's a lot less junk in the closets. And 1337 has forgiven me for running the vacuum cleaner in his presence.
I found some photos from my Senior Prom... god, was I SKINNY. And flat-chested. I don't know what crackpipe dream convinced me I was fat in highschool, but damn if I don't want to go back in time and slap Highschool EK around. For so many reasons. (The Grandfather Paradox + Bitchslapping = All Sorts of Disturbing Metaphysical Possibilities)
Anyway.
Jim Kelly.
Yeah.
What is it about martial artists with afros? Does supah black belt pow-ah become supernaturally enhanced in direct proportion along with hair volume? Or is it the 'fro ITSELF that brings the extra pow-ah?
I need to get a third glass of Chardonnay and ponder this.

Well, I wasn't able to find "Entroducing..." for less than $18, so here's what I did instead... went to Cheapo, set myself a maximum of $50, and bought:
Geggy Tah - Into the Oh (new album)
Geggy Tah - Grand Opening (debut album)
David Byrne - Forestry (remixes of various tracks from The Forest; out of print)
Supreme Beings of Leisure - self-titled
Beastie Boys - Hello Nasty
Spiritualized - Let It Come Down
I usually make a blind purchase on this kind of trip, but they have listening stations at Cheapo, so... Anyway, thank heavens they did, because I almost bought an Apex Theory EP. Yeeeeccch. Talk about a big waste of $3. They sound like Linkin Park and Korn mixed together but heavier on the drums. Gurgh.
Anyway, all 6 CDs came to $48, so I took the remaining $2 in my budget and went down the street to Amy's and had a lime ice and read the Chronicle. Which I'm glad I did, because I saw that Alamo was showing "Enter the Dragon" at midnight. Wee-haw!
So I called up Greggo, then went to Thai Passion for dinner, then went to Greggo's place to pick him up... we watched Episode 1 of "GTO" - the dub is pretty darn good, but they don't have enough VAs to cover all the bit parts, but DAMN David Lucas r0xx0rz.
Greggo got parking and tickets (I have no cash because my bank is stupid and won't mail me my new PIN), and I got the beer and pizza. Greggo and I kept cracking little jokes all through the movie, but fortunately there weren't too many people there. God, that was a terrible movie. But it was wonderful. I mean, BRUCE LEE. Jesus. HWAAAAOOOOH!!!
And Jim Kelly. Sweet mother 'a' pearl.
I miss Brett a lot, but it's nice to be able to take an entire weekend and just do whatever the hell I want. For example, today it's hot and humid, so I'm staying in and cleaning house and playing with 1337H4X0R. Then I'm going to watch dumb anime and draw.
Sure, it's not exciting, but I don't usually get to just chill like this.

TheNanashi, if you're reading this, know that I am about to go buy my own copy of "Endtroducing..." because of your Akira video. :D
How's the new album, by the way?
Whoever says file sharing causes people to buy less CDs hasn't seen my wallet lately. ^^;
