JOURNAL: Big Big Truck (E K)

  • so smoke your little smoke, drink your little drink, while I dance the night awa-a-ay 2002-09-25 12:27:55 I probably will not have any CDs to give out at AWA. Not enough time to convert and burn everything, and besides, I'm not sure if I want to be handing out my stuff any more :/

    AMIZADAI LOOKY LOOKY: http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/barsoom/
I think you may agree with me when even I say "ghlaaahghgl."

Someday I will be 1/10 that good.

I didn't know Nightowl, SushiBoyJared, and Paizuri were going to AWA. SCORE! I get to meet peeeepulllll.
  • My comments, excerpted from an IM convo with Hsien 2002-09-25 00:35:16 There's the thing with pro again... I don't get the "it's all crap" thing. I guess my criteria are too low?
I was impressed with just about everything, on tape 1 anyway
but like i said, that's why I'm not competing anymore

My work isn't... my ideas aren't very innovative or creative
I've lost the energy to innovate. (Hell, I don't even KNOW what's innovative. I just do what I like.) I just want to make videos for myself and not really show them to everyone... I'm tired of the bitching

I'm glad I don't have anything for AWA this year... I don't think I could take the anxiety. It's worse this year than last
    the general atmosphere I mean

I've been sort of frustrated - I want to vent about a lot of stuff and get honest feedback, but i know if I do it in my journal or in my blog or lj, I'll just get a bunch of "oh, it's OK, you're fine" from people who think I'm just down and seeking attention

I'm just backing off from the whole AMV scene. I'm an illustrator, after all
that's what I really want to be known for

  • once upon a time... when the hot sun faded behind the mountains... 2002-09-24 12:52:57 Leaving for AWA in 2 days, so naturally I get a fresh spurt of creative editing energy. Stayed up past midnight last night and Sunday trying to edit.

I'm going to have a LOT of little snippets but no completed vids. Did the titling for "The Edge", which is cute, and made a new title sequence just for BBT, set to the intro of "Beds are Burning" by Midnight Oil. IT IS SO NAST.

I need to put the bumpers on El Justiciero and render Little Editor to MPEG1... or just take Little Editor out of my CDs. I don't know if I'll have time to burn CDs to give out.

Almost done packing for AWA. I realized I'll be leaving the con with a much lighter suitcase - I'm coming in with booze, flyers for Ushicon, and 4 framed pictures to sell. (please, let them sell!)
The R. Dorothy prints turned out beautifully. The red in her hair is really vibrant. The Ed and Ein pic looks like watercolor, which is good, and the Spike & Faye pic is OK - not as contrasty as I made it on my monitor, but it's still pretty vivid.
I heart Miller's printing. I am never using Kinko's again.
Found the last of the Failed Experiments drawings, so ALL OF THEM will be up for sale, in one big batch. They're all in plastic slipcovers in a black binder.

Packed the red dress. Naturally, since it is low cut in front and back, I somehow acquired a big scratch on my back. I think 1337H4XX0R got me in my sleep.
Fortunately, a few days ago, I got some makeup to cover a surgical scar on my chest, so I can just use that.

I remember at ACen two years ago, just the day before the con I'd gone out swimming/rafting, and was covered all over in sunscreen except for one place about the size of a quarter in the center of my back. The rest of me was fine, but that one place I missed looked like someonehad jabbed me with a curling iron. Hee.

I'm excited about meeting jbone, ErMaC (you are going, right?), AD, Waiji & Cath, CowboyAndy, and everyone else I've talked to online but not yet met in person.

Machine came by the office just a few minutes ago to pick up the Pro tapes. I got a sneak peek, neener neener... although due to my busy schedule I only got to see Tape 1.
DAMN, everybody did some IMPRESSIVE work!! I am so excited to see these in the big show.

Hey, just because I'm no longer competing doesn't mean I'm not still watching and editing :3

  • 2002-09-19 12:06:30 Head is full of concrete. Have so much to do before AWA, yet my concrete head is so heavy.

I hope this won't be a replay of AWA 5's "must... fight ... flu... not... succumb... *breakdowndeath*" thing.
