I am SO pumped.
I have source readily available for 2 of my next 4 projects. As for the third, I need to sit on my hands and wait, and as for the fourth, I just need to save up a LOT of dough to buy an entire series on DVD.
All four use music that hasn't been used before, as far as I know... two are granola-ish folk songs (feel that estrogen flowin'), one is traditional eastern European music (no one is going to want to watch it, but I want to make it), and one is a totally screwed up Beck song (and no, I'm not counting the "8.6.82" and "Fucked Up Day" Eva videos in this list.)
Was listening to the Beck tune I wanted to use, and thought of an interesting new transition style to use on DJ scratches and drumbeats. it involves the next piece of footage encroaching onto the previous piece in sort of a scattered, chunky fashion.
Scattered, chunked, and covered! Mmmmmmm. Time for some hash browns.

Read this in TheGline's journal just now and really wanted to C&P and comment (also, I'm a Pollock fan - no not because of any contrived "deep meaning", just because his paintings crackle with manic energy):
"There's no one final reason why anyone becomes an artist. With Pollock, I got the impression the reason he did it was because he just wanted to paint -- that was the only way he had to validate himself, and it didn't always work. I create videos, write scripts, essays, do all of these other things, but they're only steps towards something I don't even have a name for yet, and probably never will."
In a way, isn't creative work a way of reminding yourself that you exist?
I'm going to go think about that for a while.
And eat satay chicken.

(Yes, each and every one of my journal subjects is a song lyric. Even weird ones like I've had lately.)
It was 45 degrees outside when I left the house this morning. Having forgotten the mysterious concept of "cold weather" due to the nigh-interminable Texas summer, I thought "Hmmm, 45, well, that's above freezing. Long sleeve shirt and jeans it is, then! Wonder if I'll be too hot."
Ach and begorrah, what a foolish soul.
Still, one thing I love about being snuggled up near the west edge of the Central time zone is that as winter creeps up on tiptoe, sunrise inches later and later into the day. Driving up through downtown at 7:30, I was treated to the sight of a blazing band of yellow over the skyline, and opalescent feathers of steam wafting up from the surface of Lake Austin.
I love this city.
Thanks to Nied, I've gotten my ass in gear and have been drawing more WPOC. Working on strip #15 now... also gonna do some photoshoppery for Hsien. It sounds tedious, but I really have fun with it. Last time I really got to play with photomanipulation was during the "All Your Base" craze.
Not going to say any more about it... don't want to spoil Hsien's idea. :-)
Been making new Bebop movie wallpapers like a fool. There's one where Spike's leaning over and looking at the viewer... the look on his face is terrifying, like "heh heh heh...c'mere, little girl, I have some candy."
Speaking of CB, here's something that nearly made me spew coffee all over my monitor yesterday:

"C'mere little girl, I have some candy" indeed.
