Well I've got 25 days to do it / think I'm walkin' away? Just watch me go through it
2001-10-26 11:06:34
Got to work at 7:45, and every building's east wall was pink. The western half of the sky was this slate blue color... I wonder when we change our clocks, anyway.
Driving to and from work, it seems American flags are more ubiquitous than cowboy hats now in Austin... the whole town looks like Jasper Johns went on a tagging spree.
I've been a bit worried about what practical thinking might get washed away in the surging wave of blind patriotism that's swept the U.S. in the past month. Fortunately, I think most of us have managed to stay fairly rational, with the exception of the asses who want to pass the upcoming wiretapping bill.
Also, this bimbo desperately needs my foot shoved up her ass:

Why not just drop the other Saks pump and say you want ID cards and careful monitoring of everyone with brown skin. Go go gadget craniometer & badge. Jesus.

I swear I'll have a nice flowery and fluffy post later. I just had to drain some accumulated venom, there.

The open palm of desire / the rose of Jericho
2001-10-25 09:58:38
Yesterday's subject header should have read "the sausage meat was scattered on the ground / the sasquatch was eating the burrito". If you know where that's from, you listen to too much weird music.
Anyone know of a good Japanese text viewing attachment for Netscape or MSIE in Mac OS9? I've been using Shodouka for reading plain text, but it decreases my load speed by about 75% and doesn't read CGI scripts (which means, EK no ready Oekaki pic feedback.)
I can ask about these things, see, because I have next to nothing to do at work this week :/ (Hence all the gratuitous Bebop art and long journal entries.)
Gehh. I've got to re-learn Painter's objects & floaters system in order to do this illo commission. Had I known the pic was going to be so large on the page, I'd have charged much more. -_- Oh well, it makes a dent in the rent payments, and money is money after all.
Brett left his copy of Bela Fleck's "Outward Bound" in my car, so I listened to the first 3 tracks waaay too much. If I thought I was up to the challenge, I'd do my Heaven's Door video to "A Moment So Close". Tuvan throat singing + banjo & guitar + saxophone + multilayered Middle Eastern chord progression + chorus sung in round ... and JON ANDERSON sings on it. DUDE. JON ANDERSON. Supreme high tenor master of Yes. The owner of the lonely heart. The man with a higher voice than me. *sigh* I wonder if the Symphonic Jon Anderson album is available on CD...
Anyway, in "A Moment So Close", Shaun Colvin sings the bridges, but her part of the song is what's keeping me from using it for an AMV. The song starts and finished so hard and mysteriously, but her part is so clear and poppy and happy, it seems almost schizophrenic.
So yeah, now you know that I'm doing a Heaven's Door video next spring, and that I'm not using Bela Fleck for it. I think that's about all the hints I should give out.
Oh, and I found out the R2 DVD release date! Neener neener neener!
(Actually, I'm sure it'll get pushed back a couple times more before 2002 arrives.) Now I just have to get Brett's DVD-ROM modded.
I'm totally kicking myself for not trying to do one of my AWA videos to "Dry the Rain" by the Beta Band. Oh well. The footage is all gone and there's nothing I can do now.
This morning I actually got to work just as the sun rose. December is going to be freaky... going to work in complete darkness. Sunrise sure is nice to watch from the bridge thru downtown, though.
Kevin Spacey was on campus yesterday filming part of a movie. I didn't see him, though.

Done in Painter 5 a couple days ago. I drew his eyes too small >_< Oh well.
Did I mention there is VERY LITTLE to do at work right now?
Yeah, just checking.

knghtbrd, thanks for the kind words. :-) Isn't it odd how so many people suddenly are occupied with the same concerns? Unity through distress, perhaps... an odd phenomenon, but it makes perfect sense if you think about it.
Anyway, BOO YAA GUESS WHO JUST GOT A FREELANCE CONTRACT TO ILLUSTRATE A CHILDREN'S SHORT STORY FOR HARCOURT PUBLISHING!! w00t!
I M XtR33M R-T!ST!!!!!1
This is a rush pay job, so Joe & Brad, you guys may have to wait a bit for your pics... sorry ^^;;

The whole world's gone to hell... but how are you?
2001-10-24 10:12:12
Discovered late last night that my bathroom mirror is actually distorted...makes me look about 5-10% wider than I am. Which is good, because it turns out I don't actually look like a widescreen version of a TV pilot, but is also bad because I let that thing screw with my perception for over a year, since it's the only mirror in my house that I use.
I hit the snooze button five times this morning. Each time the radio came on to wake me up, I heard the phrase "September 11th".
You know, the more I hear about war and terrorism, the more silly stuff I do... "More anthrax, huh... That's too scary to think about. I'm going to go think about my next AMV."
Because really, what can you do? There's no magic spell to make people stop being psycho hose beasts. Well, there's bullets, but those only work when you know who and where the hose beast is.
The Postmaster General has officially declared that the U.S. Mail cannot be effectively guarded against contamination and should be considered unsafe. Gahh.
I still think it's solitary wackos doing this, though. Someone tried to send anthrax to President Bush yesterday... you'd think if it was from the same crowd of terrorists that carried out the tightly executed and carefully planned hijacking, they'd at least have bothered to find out that the President's mail doesn't get processed in the White House.
It's supposed to be 88 degrees today. It's October 24. I think Texas doesn't understand, sometimes, that fall means cool weather (like some drivers here don't understand that green means go... I left the house 5 minutes earlier than usual and arrived at work 10 minutes late due to some dumbass in a Suburban.)
Ahh, I shouldn't stay pissed off like this. It's not pretty.
Then again, this isn't either:

Snort.

(No, it wasn't actually yaoi.)
