JOURNAL: Big Big Truck (E K)

  • Yo it's three thousand thirty, I want y'all to meet Deltron Zero 2001-11-15 17:32:45 Fuck.
So naturally Painter eats my RIFF document.

Thank goodness I have the inks saved in TIFF format.

That's one thing I hate about Painter... when you're saving wet data in an 8+ MB document, the data gets corrupted if any other system operations occur during saving.
  • get up when ya get down / kinda shake it around 2001-11-15 15:08:12 OH MY GOD.

I'm SO getting karmic payback for ART DAY OF ASS yesterday.
Seriously. This is like, the best Bebop fanart I've *ever* drawn.

I can't wait till I get another injection of creativity and start drawing my own ideas again. I've had NONE lately.
    Hence all the parody shit.

Pic will be posted later today.
I was just excited and wanted to spill.
  • she got a kung fu star as a bodyguard 2001-11-15 11:13:03 OK, NOW I'M PISSED.
I wrote this really long and lovely journal entry, only to have Netscape crash when I called up Dangerforum in another window. FUCK YOU EZBOARD. FUCK YOU AND THE JAVASCRIPT YOU RODE IN ON.

Umm, anyway, summary of what I don't feel like typing again...
Brett's 35th birthday is tomorrow and he and Greggo and Alex and I are all going to go see the Harry Potter movie, provided we can get tickets.
We're planning to see it at Alamo Drafthouse, which kicks ass. I wrote about three paragraphs about why Alamo kicks ass, but I'll sum it up here:
Downtown Alamo is showing "Black Belt Jones" tonight at midnight, and you get a free 40 of Colt 45 with your ticket.
They're also hosting an MST3K show of "Mac and Me", and advertising it as "like, E.T., but crappy!"
Any theatre where you can order food and get a pitcher of local brew is A-OK in my book.

Yesterday I had the SHITTIEST ART DAY EVER.
God. I tried to draw, like 3 different pieces and they ALL SUCKED. I forced myself to finish one, because I'd promised Jupe I'd draw a 25,000-hit kiriban for Fayevalentine.net, but it looks like ASS. It's Faye in Uma Thurman's pose from "Pulp Fiction", but her right forearm looks detached, I had a brainfart and left her left hand all sketchy, and Painter's FUCKING PAPER TEXTURES only showed through on skin tones.
I really wish I could have done a better job than that. I'll whip something up later, I guess.

Been planning on making multilingual versions of BBT...
I've been getting an increasing number of hits from overseas, mostly from Japan, but also from France, Italy, and Spain... (Yesterday I got an email from an artist in the Czech Republic. [I typed Czechoslovakia just now, and remembered to correct that...])
The main problem is that instead of updating just once each time I make some new artwork, I'd have to update twice, or four times, in various languages I'm pretty much unfamiliar with (except for Spanish). The Japanese Bebop page is there more for ease of navigation, because God knows the image descriptions are about Tarzan-level. (Me draw Spike. Ug.)
Monday on the Jazz Session BBS, I effed up and used the wrong kanji for "episode/chapter" and used "go" instead. (The top right radicals are different.) Fortunately, the regulars there know my Japanese sucks, and figured out what I really meant.
If you'd like to see it, the BBS is hosted from here:

WAH!! I just noticed Edoken posted a new background picture! Of ANDY!! ^o^^
Anyway, the Oekaki is the fifth link from the top, and the art gallery is the seventh. Edoken's art is really excellent - you should check it out.

    Umm, what else.
    I'm rethinking my Yoko Kanno video idea... wondering if it'll work with the footage I have, wondering if everyone'll hate the song... ^_^;;
    Reconsidering Portishead...
Also reconsidering the Atom Bomb idea. I think it might not be so bad after all, but the song needs some trimming if it's going to go in an AMV.

It's pouring rain here. Thank goodness this isn't November in north Georgia, where it's 38 and pouring instead of 68 and pouring.
  • maybe we'll make texas by the morning 2001-11-13 13:51:26 Lord Rae: wow, I'm way jealous. I never did get the hang of working with clay, even after 6 months of struggling. I really do think that sculpture comes naturally to some folks.
I did okay with things like coil pots, but slabs and spun pieces were just beyond me.

I know some folks from school who have managed to bring in some nice cash on the side doing art pottery. Stick with it if you like it! ^_^
  • I saw her today at the reception / a glass of wine in her hand 2001-11-13 13:45:07 Well, whatever this cold/allergy thing is, it's got me stuck home from work today. I slept until 8... Normally I'd push myself through it and go on into the office an hour or so late, but my boss is gone and there are no new jobs coming in, so everyone's just kind of twiddling their thumbs. I gave my coworkers my home phone in case they need me, but I think it's just going to be another dull day.

    Today's obligatory Bebop image:

"Tell me about the rabbits again."
I have no idea what possessed me to draw that. I am extremely sorry.

*cough* Bleh. Time for pho and Theraflu.
