Upscaling
2025-12-06 02:48:59
I managed to revive some of my older works with new technology! I know what you're all thinking AI? Boo... But without AI some of my older videos would not have the quality they are now. The upscaling made them look brand new again. At the time I encoded them the original blu ray sources weren't the best quality back then even for imports. And for some reason a US version of the set looked 10 times better, but I didn't feel like going back and remaking the entire video shot for shot. It be impossible. So I did the next best thing. Upscale the video to 4k then put the final videos as 1080 p reasonable file sizes that match the original masters. Boom. The videos look better than ever. I'll be adding some videos that have links up already with alternate downloads to some of my AI Upscales in the future. Right now I only have a few done. They take a while to encode. So if you want to make your amvs look brand new again I recommend Unifab encoder. It has a lot of neat features. Don't trust me? Just wait till you see the results. It'll blow your mind!

Thinking...

I just put up a bunch of new videos using my own links and I'm thinking about reuploading or adding some new options. I realized that when I was encoding my videos using variable bit rate the quality is not that great. It reminds me of a high quality mpeg 1 file when it should look like a crisp blu ray file. That's Vegas's compression fault. Its something that newer versions of Vegas seem to be bad at unless you use a high CBR. And even using that gives you less options to choose from so trying to make your vid a decent size sucks. Luckily I found the solution. I went to one of my converters which I normally use for clip conversion only decided to use it for encoding my amvs. Low and behold I got CBR level quality being able to actually edit the bit rate I want! I used Unifab which is a great encoder btw. So I might go back and add some other links to my amvs giving a CBR option to choose from. Think of Netflix lol. That's my tip of the day.
