JOURNAL: Warheart (Alexander Otto)

  • Towards Dead End 2006-05-27 15:08:45 Well, I haven't made any senseful entry in a while and looking at my hits no one misses me. Ah, and before we continue I apologize for being emo all the time. Thing is I'm trough with school and I'm currently searching for new occupations altough I have 2 things in mind I'm still very unsure and my parents pressure me a hole lot so it's no real peace at home. Then I notice my friends all leave one by one like no one's interested in me anymore since we don't see each other like we used to, so when it comes down to do something I end up alone most of the time. You'd say more time to edit right ? Wrong now comes the actual topic I'm refering to with the title of this journal ...

I always wanted to go out with a bang and not die a silent death like Dethmajor, Farlo Rubyeye and many others. I wanted to make a last video which was suposed to attend Connichi and AWA 2006. Last Exile with a really fine Power Metal song. I started and everything seemed fine except that I only had two months to do it and I still have a MEP running and I also need to deliver a RoS 3 part. But then Premiere got alot of very strange errors mainly loading and saving errors and even reinstalling of all components did not help, so the video was stuck at 23 secs. And those 23 secs are actually not what I would call good. I had the same problem editing them as I had with Phoenix Rising, I just didn't get a feeling for it and thus I seeked help but wasn't able to get anything that motivated me, so I kept struggling for something that kept me working ... but it was in vain. After one week of stillstand I loaded up the ppj. and well it was damaged as well as my autosaves. I loaded a very early one and reeditet most of it, saved and next time it just crashed again. And like I said earlier all the desperate measures recovering or fixing the system were no good. So I tried to follow an advice Streicher gave me - I installed Vegas. And with Janzkis help I got it running and reworked the d2vs and such to be able to start a project (not thinking about the fact that I won't be able to continue my premiereproject under any circumstances). And now I'm reading trough the manuals and feel somehow that my time seems to be over ... I fear that this state of technical difficulties combined with many problems in real life just will let my editingspirit fade away. I'm not quitting right away, but I guess I'll die a silent death like most other editors too ...

Now, I'm still fighting and I'll maybe even finish one of the MEP-Tracks but I have only little hopes that I'll ever release my "Last Video". It's a pity, but let's hope I'll find something that keeps me editing. I don't know what it might be but I need it very badly. I lost my gift and I lost my basis to edit, I really guess I won't be around for long from now maybe a few months maybe not. It depends on how much motivation I can get to go on ...

Well actually this is it ... not much but it's something. I guess most downloaded the XviD anyway. So here are some other infos ->

    [stars: 79] [star avg: 3.84]

    DIRECT (295) (XviD)

    DIRECT (166) (h264)

    DIRECT (103) (WMV9)

    LOCAL (104) (h264)

Well I have no other MEP to compare with but it looks good to me. I mean 668 downloads is acutally more the expected for a MetalMEP. So yeah I'm proud to see that people are enjoying what we've been working on for 5 months. Thanks to everyone who was involved. :)

Now I don't have to tell everyone one by one. :P

  • A plain of clouds above the ocean. 2006-04-21 19:18:31 - Progress:

    Phoenix Rising !!!

I already brought my next stand alone release to the postaloffice for the acon 2006 in Almelo. So obviously it's finished altough the release will be after the con thus at the beginning of July.

    - I started my next MEP -

Multiball, I already got all editor's necessary and already delievered all the wavs now it's up to the editors to deliever their videos.

    My next standalone ?

Well, I'm sorry to let all my fans down who I told I'd work on a Power Metal Video with Last Exile. I had to drop the idea since I couldn't get the DVDs. So I have to think of something else ...

I joined the Reflections of Style 3 team >_>

AtomX asked if I would like to take ofer Burntoast's part and thus I joined my last MEP for a long time.

  • - Scene 23 - 2006-04-18 08:02:02 I went to nice little festival yesterday.

    Bands in order of appereance:

    Silent Decay
    - Mainly Hardcore nothing extraordinary, but I liked the performance altough the music isn't my cup of tea. The vocalist was really energic and still he had a hard job getting the crowd warm.

    Koroded
    - Another Hardcore band, again I thought why the hell do they have Hardcore bands on board this doesn't fit. Lame sound and boring performance, actually I just went to get myself more Jägermeister during their gig.

    Betzefer
    - Post Trashmetal, acutally the first good band this eve. I was gladly suprised that they had such well made songs (first soli this eve as well). Definietly something I'd like to see again. The vocalsist and the guitarist really made it to break the ice and the first moshpit was made up.

    Maroon
    - Worst band of the eve. I never saw a singer spitting into the audience and I don't want to see it again, as well as the fucking stupid behaivor to throw waterbottles at the roadies. And well the music was crap as well typical Metalcore, just that it was so simple that I guess everyone that plays the guitar for like 1 year could have done that. Shit nothing else.

    Scar Symmetry
    - I already heard a few songs of the band before and they were one of the reasons I went to Colonge and well it wasn't as good as I had expected. The music was near the quality of the ablums even tough the sound of the hall wasn't that good but the performace was weak. Christian just stood on the stage and grunted and well the others played their instruments like they were supposed to, and well that was it. Nothing special. Still one of my favorite newcomers in the swedish melodic deathmetal genre. I bought Symmetric in Design after the show (listening to it atm) and it sounds awesome. btw. Christian is really able to put up the same cleans and growls live as he does on the albums.

    One Man Army
    - Didn't hear much about them before the concert and now I know why. Nothing special it was mainly mere Death-Trash for me. And that's about it. Most other people liked it and some of them even knew the major part of the lyrics and the atmosphere was cool, but I just couldn't join in. Don't know why myself but the music just didn't give me anything.

    Amorphis
    - Hell yeah. That was like the best liveperformance I've seen in a long time. Their ne voalist has everything: The voice, the appereance and the energy. I was blown away, they played a mix of the old Death-Metal songs like "Tales from the thousand lakes, their mellower ones like "Alone" and "Divinity" and e few from the new album. Totally awesome. I've never seen such a great live performance.

    Soilwork
    - As expected good performance, altough I still don't like most of the newer songs the mic was ok to me. Some old Death-Trash Bastards and mainly new almost Metalcorish songs. The crowd was just fucking wild and the moshpit was formed again thoughout the whole playtime. It was quite a fun performance still I missed the old songs. Nevertheless worth the money.

    Hypocrisy
    - The oldies ... but goldies. They played alot of songs I didn't get to hear often enough so it wasn't so enjoyble for me as for most others but still a very good performance this time. Not as good as I expected though. Still a nice ending of the evening.

    - So well I got home at 5am. Germany sucks when it comes to public transportation.
