  • INTRODUCTION/DEAD OR ALIVE 2020-10-13 13:21:48 All right! First journal entry! I'm not quite sure how this thing works, but I figured I'd give it a shot! I actually joined this site about a year ago, but I'm only now discovering all its features (I know, lazy). Anyhoo, as this is my first entry so I figured I'd give a little introduction. (tell me if I'm doing anything wrong)

    Hello! I am Vaeryn, an independent AMV creator who's been on the movie makers for a little more than five years. I own a little Youtube channel where I post a new AMV every week on Tuesday (I think I'll post a journal entry on Tuesdays as well). I'm still learning, but my goal is to one day win a contest or something of the sort. :)

    New AMV --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    So, this week's AMV is called 'Dead Or Alive', using the song To Be Or Not To Be by the k-pop group ONEUS and the new Crunchyroll anime Tower Of God.

    Tower Of God:
    My sister UnicornTamer started reading the Tower Of God manhwa around two years ago (I read a little but didn't get very far), so when we discovered it being adapted into an anime...there was much joy. I mean, what are the chances? The first manhwa to get an anime adaption and it just so happens to be sister's favorite! :D

    ONEUS:
    So the opening and ending to Tower Of God is by a k-pop group called Stray Kids. UnicornTamer became a fan (or STAY) of them through the anime, and it wasn't long before she expanded her k-pop horizons and introduced us to ONEUS. Their songs were EPIC, thus I had to construct an AMV using one of their songs. And what better anime to use than Tower Of God?

    The AMV:
    So I didn't use many special effects or transitions in this video, but focused more on the timing and matching the scenes to the lyrics (even though they're in Korean). And I actually like how this video turned out more than a lot of my others. I think it really brings out the anime and the song rather than being surrounded by distracting effects (not to say effects aren't bad for other videos). In addition, this is my first 4k video, though I can't upload it here in said quality. Tell me what you guys think of it!

    PS. Reading the guidelines, it says that dismemberment and decapitations aren't allowed. I do have one instance in this AMV, but it's silhouetted so I hope that's okay...? (please, pretty please)

    Bonus Chatter --------------------------------------------------------------------

    As if I haven't been talking enough already.... As I previously stated, I'm still figuring out all the site features (you know, which places to use html code and which to use bb code). I've been filling out the information for each of my AMVs as well as thinking of more creative titles for a bunch of them. I decided to try my hand at some opinions, so I submitted a couple and my 'usefulness' lowered to -1. :( Oh well, I suppose I was I little harsh in some of my ratings, but I'll try to do better next time.

    So yeah. I suppose only someone with a lot of time on their hands would actually read all this, but this journal will help me keep better track of my AMV life. All right, I should probably go get some lunch or something....
