JOURNAL: Jayn_Newell

  • 2006-09-14 08:24:44 It's up. Or at least, it will be soon. It's only a couple minutes long, so even if you don't like it you haven't wasted much time by watching it ;) It's nothing special though--if you've seen the anime you've seen this.

  • 2006-09-13 12:27:48 I found a way to avoid having to deal with lip-flapping--make a Kakurenbo AMV. They wear masks the entire time, so it doesn't matter if they're talking in a scene.

Eh, anyways, I should have a new vid up soon. I've just about finished this video, there's a couple scenes that could use tweaking, but other than that I think I'm done. I think I suck at middles though--I always have a beginning and ending for a video in mind, but the middle part always escapes me. Which of course means that's the bit that needs tweaking. Oh well. It'll get done. Eventually. Soon. I hope.
  • 2006-09-12 15:15:51 My parents are going to hate me...but I couldn't not send them Christmas hints with those insane sales Right Stuf is having right now. There's some stuff in there I'd love to have, and CCS is one of my favorite series. I know they wish I wouldn't bother with anime, but dammit I enjoy it and that's really all I care about.

Now if only my GitS stuff would get here...

Bittorrent is blocked. Absolutely, totally blocked. Last year it was slow but still worked (Although ironically, the Blizzard downloader, which is a legal use of the technology, was borked), now I can't get it to work at all. Hell, I can hardly even get the torrents.

HydraIRC also seems to be blocked, which blows. Someone must've gone on uber-crackdown mode over the summer, and blocked everything. Dammit, I'm going to have to yell at DalTech. Not that I don't already have a reason to yell at Dal. They're screwing us on bus passes right now. There's 28 of us who are full-time students, but who don't have our courses signed up yet (that's a function of how the program works, it's not because we're lazy). Because of that it's a hassle to get the damn passes. FFS, just give the girls a list of names of people in the program or something. There's only 28 of us out of, what, 13 000 students between the two schools?

Andrew suspects they're just doing it to piss King's off. I believe him. Dal sucks.

    *hugs*

I've been following the journal thread, as well as reading a bit of the huge OT removal thread (I wasn't around when that was removed), and I'm really starting to feel like the general AMV community is pretty elitist and anti-social. I'm posted before that I feel like my AMV editing (infrequent though it is) seperates me from others. None of my friends do it, and I don't really know anyone on the .org. I can't go to cons, so there's no chance of meeting another editor to talk to there. And yet I can't really seem to talk to anyone here. The journals weren't meant for conversations, and they're a bad medium for doing that...but there isn't really a good way to talk to other editors on here. And it seems like a decent sized chunk of the community wants it that way.

I want to get involved in the community. I want to talk to other editors. But there's not really any way to do that. How the hell am I supossed to meet people if I'm not allowed to talk to them? (And IRC tends not to have much in the way of talking. Unless your idea of a conversation is 'ep ep ep'). Granted, it doesn't help that I'm shy as hell...

The .org is a great ressource for AMV creators. But it's a bit of a joke to talk about the 'community' here. Sure, there's a bunch of n00bs running around (you get that everywhere), but the snobs are almost as bad.
