JOURNAL: Jayn_Newell

  • Aluminum Studios 2006-08-02 14:05:13 I knew you were pretty much gone, so I'm actually happy to see you post in your journal--it means you haven't forgotten us and still care :) We all go from path to path in our life somewhat, some more than others (mine's all over the map), but I know that whatever you do, now or later, you will put your heart into, and do well at.

Your vids were some of the first I saw--I still have a copy of the Cell Mix, and it still makes me laugh, although not to the point of falling off my chair ;) I won't get to see you at any cons, as I can't go to any, but I wish you well in whatever you do.

That's assuming you read this of course. You probably won't. No one does :P

    Meh.

    Good luck man.
  • It's Wednesday! 2006-08-02 08:40:18 VEGAAAAAAS!!! VegasvegasvegasvegasVEGAS!

I haven't squeed this much since I got my first Stand-Alone Complex DVD *huggles box* I don't care if it's the cheap version, I'm glad to have it.

    VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEGAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!
  • 2006-07-31 16:24:15 There's a parcel waiting for me at the post office. You know what that means--VEGAS!!! I won't be able to pick it up until Wednesday, but that's alright as I'm working tomorrow anyways. I'll say this for Amazon though--they ship fast. I ordered that on Thursday, got the free shipping and it's here today. And I figured being out here in Nova Scotia odds were it would take closer to the maximum time than the minimum. The last thing I ordered (a DVD) arrived similarly fast, but I didn't qualify for free shipping on that one
  • 2006-07-31 14:22:49 I just got back from the eye doctor--I'm exactly as near-sighted as I was two years ago :D

Dad and Mom have gone to Halifax on a business trip--specifically, they're going to a seminar (not sure why Mom's going, but meh.) Dad left me some work to do, and all I can say after putting some bills away is--Mom, 21st century, now! See, we still do all our paperwork on paper. And after being in business for a couple decades or so, some of hte books are getting fairly stuffed. I always hate having to put new sheets in them, I have a hard time getting the damn things closed again. But since Mom takes to technology like a fly to water, I don't expect it changing soon. Or ever. I understand it drives our accountant batty as well (one nice side effect of your parents owning their own business though--I've yet to do my own taxes)
  • 2006-07-31 09:06:23 I should probably just stop visiting the forums. Everytime I go there there's another newbie thread that makes my head hurt. I'm not against helping newbies at all--we've all been there, and I'm still pretty much a newb myself--but it's just that so often they have so little of an idea of what they're talking about, not to mention tons of grammar and spelling errors...ARGH!! Makes my head hurt just trying to decipher them. It's almost as bad as leetspeak.

In other news, VSM should be here this week, or early next. I can't wait, after the preview weekend on GW (which was HELL on a dial-up connection, and don't even ask about the one bit of PvE I did) I'm itching to get back to work. Might finish one SM vid, might start another, might work on the GitS/Appleseed vid I want to do--I need to re-rip Appleseed though, as I was ignorant and made my soruce MPEG-4 last time :/ I'm definitly making a pair of shorts though. And one good thing about the GW preview weekend--it gave me an incentive to finally remaster my Appleseed vid. I've fixed up the quality somewhat (there's still noticible cubing, but it's better than before), and the aspect ratio got restored as a side effect. Also removed the stray frames (one was my fault, the rest were WMM--I think one might've gotten added in the re-encode, but meh. Even I can barely notice it, and I know that vid like the back of my hand). I'm thinking I might enter it to a con or two now, and when I get broadband again I'll exchange the file uploaded here.

So.....can anyone tell me how to add black space to the beginning and end? I suppose I could re-import it to Vegas when that gets here (I still have the Lagarith encode), but if there's other ways of doing that it'd be nice to know.
