to finish or not to finish
2005-06-04 23:50:40
so, i was going through my archives of projects that i terminated for one reason or another. either for time, lack of enthusiasm, lack of skill to finish, lack of soberness, or even lack of will to do anything besides sleep. but joe was there as i was cleaning up the old files, and i stumbled across a video using "Blood: the last vampire" and Zero 7's "in the waiting line." i showed it to joe (it was 66% completed already) and he told me i should finish it. but.... there is a certain lack of feeling to the video. the scenes don't match the lyrics, but the premise is kinda fun. it was originally taken up as a challenge posted by dj_ultima_the_great as part of his "side character challenge." a post which has been long dead. he said that it'd be quite difficult to do a Blood: The Last Vampire video using anyone besides the main character. so, upon hearing that i decided to do it for lack of another idea. i decided to remake the movie, and go sequentially with the nurse's role in the whole thing. i only showed scenesof the nurse and who she was with (which sometimes included the main character). it's kinda cool, but kinda not. so i dunno, maybe i'll finish the video. maybe. i still have all the files to do it on my comp, so it's not like there owuld be any prep time. it's just if i have the willingness to actually do it. at all. oh well, we'll see.

okay, it's time for a long update. and it's all gonna be about Anime Boston 2005. woo, what a weekend. one hell of a weekend. it began on friday, and it ended just a couple hours before i put up this post. pesently, i am sitting with my sister as she watches TV, and i'm pretty friggin' tired. starting early each morning, and going until late (well, sometimes). well, let's begin:
FRIDAY:
I got in by noon friday. wandered about for a bit, and went to the dealer room. okay, they had just about EVERYTHING they could sell. you want it, they had it. pencil boards, posters, keychains, figurines, dvd's, manga, cd's, yaoi, yuri, hentai, cards, markers, video games, plushies, contests, stickers, pins, hats, shirts, shoes, magnets, untranslated manga, nacklaces, pocket watches, chibis, original art, shot glasses, and a hell of a lot more. oh gods, it was amazing. i wish i actually had money so i could have bought more. like, a lot more. but i'm satisfied with just being there this year (next year i plan on bringing obscene amounts of cash). oh gods, i wish i could have spent even more time in there. it was so good. okay, moving on... then i went to the AMV 101 panel where Kiarrens was. heh, she didn't talk that much. oh well, it was still helpful to me as an AMV creator. maybe i'll use some of their suggestions in the next video i make. hmm, after that i met up with Elisa. we wandered around, went back to the dealer room, where she proceeded to purchase over $100 of yaoi. food came next, then elisa decided she'd rather watch anime ta home. so she left, and i hung out. i went to a few screening rooms, and them to the AMV screening for friday. we watched all of the finalists for '05 and they were (for the most part) fantastic. 30 videos. ~_~ well, after that i was really tired, and i needed to catch the train before the last one went out for the night. so i made it home by 12:40, and i couldn't sleep. i was still running on adrenaline, so i stayed up until 3 am. i really should have slept, but i was too pumped. it had been one hell of a first day, so i was still awake.
SATURDAY:
met Elisa at 10 am in the train station in boston, and we went over. we went to see the creator of Chrono Crusade speak. a lot of cool questions were asked, and he gave some really good / funny / interresting answers. apparently he made a spelling mistake for the logo of Chrono Crusade, and no one noticed when the first volume was printed, and he couldn't take it back. he was VERY embaressed when he had to answer that question. his face got a little red and he started nervously laughing. XD it was funny and cute of him. i had a good time at that panel. hmm, then we went to the dealers room, read some manga in the reading room. i actually fell asleep in the reading room, then went for some food. returned to Elisa (who was happy just reading for hours) and we wandered a bit more. we got a little bored, so we went back to her house, watched an ep of anime, then i went home. we were both exhausted from a lack of sleep the night before, so sleep was needed.
SUNDAY:
we went to AB together and got vol. 1 - 4 of Elisa's Chrono Crusade signed by the creator. then more time in the dealer's room. Elisa got broed and went home, and i stayed for a while longer. i stood in the dealer room, then i went to the main hall. in the main hall there was: HUMAN COSPLAY CHESS. it was amazing. purely amazing. i so wish they had proper filimg done, because i'd want a video of it. they got cosplayers to stand on a chess board and 2 players decide where they were going. it was incredible. and whenever a piece took another, the characters had to act out a fight. it was funny as hell to see Card Captor Sakura take other pieces. so many fantastic outfits were there. Rei, Alucard, Vash, Inu Yasha, Sakura, Cloud, Sephrioth, goku (saiyuki), sanzo and so many more. and at the end they got to have a battly royale with the remaining characters where some interresting matches were played. i really respect those cosplayers and all the effrot they put into their outfits and their characters. i mean, it's one thing to just wear an outfit, but they also pose for photos in character. the girl who was Ed sat down on the floor with her legs spread and put a plushie of Ein on her head. she looked exactly like Ed. i think she was even barefoot (though i forget now). and an Ichigo with half a hollow mask gave an awesome sword pose for me. XD but i'm not a fanboy or anything. okay, so after the chess, the closing ceremony happened where all the speakers got to say their thanks, and we got to see the winners of the AMV contest. Kiarrens won! woo! then home i went. tired and happy as hell.
okay, and now for the things that weren't restricted to just one day:
COSPLAYERS:
i got about 20 pictures taken, which was not a lot for the weekend. but i felt kinda bad stopping every cosplayer that had an awesome costume, because i knew they were getting it a lot. so i only stopped a few, and i missed some of the ones i should have gotten. some cosplayers i saw: Battle Royale girls and video girl, Rosette and Chrono, Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, Sasuke, Edward Elric, Roy Mustang, Ichigo, Goku (saiyuki), Sanzo, Hakkai, Xellos, Spike, Nabashin, Vash, Millie, Nicolas D Wolfwood, Goku (db), Charcoal Feather Federation girls, Excel, Hyatt, Cloud, Sepheroth, Aerith, Tifa, Chrono Trigger and Cross characters (whose names escape me now), Lum, Ash, Alucard, Paladin Alexander, Haru Haru Haruko, Totoro, Card Captor Sakura, Kero, Ed, the cat from The Cat Returns, Shinobi, Yuna, Tidus, other FFX characters, and more that i can't recall or name. seriosuly, there were just a bunch that i had no idea where they were from. oh, and one very daring girl dressed as a Street Fighter character. she wore a skin tight green one piece swimsuit that left little to the imagination. i forget what that chatarcter's name is.
DEALER ROOM:
this was the most fun section, because it was window shopping on crack for me. i got to wander around and see all the different things that came from Japan based around anime. it was amazing. i think i mentioned all the differnet things i saw before, but still, it was a lot. i had very little money though. a lot went to paying to get in, plus parking, transportation, gas and food. after a weekend of it, i had very little to spend. but the date for next year is already set, so i plan on saving a hell of a lot of money so i can indescriminately buy shit. seriously. as kellie has Warped Tour for her christmas, i think Anime Boston is mine. Memorial Day weekend '06, don't expect to hear from me for the weekend, 'cause i'm gonna be at the Hynes Convention Center. woo! all i actually got was: A poster of Sephiroth from FF Advent Children, a Hidden Leaf Village forehead protector hat, and a necklace of Church's gun. ~_~ i wanted so much more, such as: DVD's, untranslated manga, a straw cone hat, figurines, shot glasses and ANime Boston merchandise (like shirts). XD i have so much to look foward to next year!
okay, i'm done, i know this has taken up a lot of space, but it's been an eventful weekend. pardon me, i'll end it now. ttyl humanoids, if i live that long...
